Ok it may be just a Guest House and good 25 mins walk to the ground, but for an away fan looking for a decent area with on site parking, a good night's sleep and a hearty breakfast, when visiting the Stadium of Light this place has to be recommended.

Parking safe as houses in front of the Guest House, a lovely view to wait for it , a beachfront, great customer service and sheer hospiltality even with Chelsea in town to whoop your local team 3-1 when it could have been 10!

Our room was excellent, a double bed, two singles and a massive chair, so for a gang of you wanting a cheap night's kip after the game look no further!

A late night key and secure code, with no noise to be heard, with two or three pubs on the way home if desired.

The breakfast did not disappoint, everything cooked to perfection, plenty of it and more if you wanted, great for my fiance' and I, on route to York that morning for a couple of days racing in York.!

My husband and I only stayed over night, but what a warm and friendly reception we recieved from John. What a lovely chap. We went to the dogs for the evening ang John insisted on taking us! We stayed on the top floor overlooking the beach. It was so lovely I woke at 4.15 am, sat on the window seat and watched the sun rise over the north sea. WOW what a sight! The room was lovely, the breakfast was second to non, and they do black pudding! The guest house is also open all year, so we will be going for the weekend in the wintertime. John even said we can fetch our little jack russel. How good is that? In fact we're going again only a week after coming back. I hope he's got a spare room!

Myself and a group of friends stayed her from 17-19 April 2009 as a friends wedding was taking place nearby.

John was so helpful when we were inquiring about the place, even offering to pick up those not driving up from London from the Train Station. As it turned out, my boyfriend and I got a cab for about £5.

Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted, given our room key, front door code and general information. Our room (6) had a fantastic sea view with access to the beach only over the road, a double bed, 2 singles, and ensuite shower room and WC. The ceilings were high and the rooms bright and airy. The shower was fantastic, really powerful and hot. There was a TV/DVD player in the room which picked up channels 1-5.

Breakfast was lovely wioth loads of choice - full English, cereal, yogurts, toast, kippers, tea, coffee and fruit juice. They offer evening meals if you request them, but it's only a short trip into town where there are loads of restaurants.

I wouldn't hesitate visitiong this guest house again. It has a fab location, comfortable rooms and a great welcome!

John could not have made us feel anymore welcome! He was awesome! John even rearranged the parking lot to make it easier to back into a space. Our rooms both were ensuite and both faced the North Sea....wonderful. We sat at the window seat whenever we were in the room just looking out at the view. Breakfast was huge and they made fresh coffee for me the day we left. Truly, you felt like you were home while you were with them. Although a return trip is not anticipated, I would book in here again and be excited to return. Even though the rooms were great, the food great, John was the one who made the experience special.

"The Chaise" really went the extra mile for us.In the past we have stayed with family, but with 3 kids it's a lot to ask, this was also the case with all other accomodation that I rang round.
John at the chaise, phoned other guests and moved their rooms, to make the family room available to us.when we wanted to extend the stay he did the same again. It may not be flash. You'll find no laminate floors and sunken lighting here BUT, what you will find is a welcome. If you have children you will never feel that they are a nuisance because they are treated with genuine warmth. At breakfast our 2 yr olds sausage came ready cut up for him, and what a breakfast. You really do get as much as you want.
From the top floor we looked out over the sea, what a fantastic view. My husband got to take our 5 yr old to his first footy match because "The Chaise" got them tickets.
It's the first place i've stayed where the host has come out to the car to say goodbye. so you won't get flower arrangements, and slippers. What you will get is comfort, good company, and hosts that will put themselves out for you and your children.

The Chaise isn't a posh place, in fact it's a bit shabby, but you are right on the beach and you couldn't ask for a warmer welcome.
Our rooms were a good size, the baths and toilets clean and the beds comfortable.
If you want a decent place at a decent price it would be worth a try.
