“Excellent, very comfortable stay”
Reviewed 11 September 2010

We stayed at The Chaise for one night and was pleasantly surprised at how clean, comfortable and welcoming it was. The view from Apartment 10 was amazing and we will be recommending to all. Also the breakfast was excellent, very quick and served with a smile. Thanks again

John couldn't have done more to make us welcome or accommodate our needs. Made us both a special breakfast because we were running the Sunderland 10k. Great location right on the sea front and close enough to walk to the city centre. Clean and tidy rooms with nice facilities. Excellent value for money. Hope to return next year and would recommend.

Thanks John!!

I stayed at the Chaise from mid March to mid June 2010 while I was working in Sunderland. I found the place to be just what I was looking for. Very convenient for work. Clean, tidy, with large well equipped rooms. The decor may not be to everyones tastes, but hey its not your home, its a B&B.The views from the front of the property are terrific as the B&B looks straight out to sea. John, the landlord is a wonderful host. Kind, considerate, very friendly and helpful. He is always cheerful and willing to stand and chat.
I would recommend this B&B to anyone. I came to think of it as a home from home and I would have no hesitation of going back there again should I get another contract in Sunderland or the surrounding area.
Sorry John, 10/10 is the only score I can give you

My husband and I and our dog recently stayed here. The dog stayed free! We could not have been made more welcome by John. His jokes were terrible but his breakfasts and our one evening meal were excellent. Our room had a seaview, was clean and airy. Nothing was too much trouble and we hope to go back again in the not too distant future. The beautiful sandy beaches are only a few minutes away and three are dog friendly all year round. We have no hesitation in recommending The Chaise to anyone looking for a fairly priced, friendly and comfortable B & B.

What a lovely little hotel. Right on the beach front with sea views. Easy walking distance to the town centre. Proprietor was absolutely lovely - couldn't have been more helpful and friendly if he had tried! Fantastic breakfast. Rooms were clean and very comfortable. I would not hesitate to go back!

We stayed here as a treat for my husbands birthday and a away match at the stadium of light.
We arrived at about 2pm after trying to find it for a while turns out its right on the sea front.
We travelled by motorbike and their was parking available but the owner offered to put the bike round the back for us to ensure it was safe which was very nice of him.
The owner himself is VERY friendly and helpful and filled us in on where to go etc.
The room we had was en-suite and it was a good size room with a lovely view from the bay window. It had a double bed and a single with a wardrobe (with plenty of hangers in) a set of drawers, bedside tables and lamps.
I think in fairness the room could probably do with a bit of a revamp, the walls were a bit dirty and the bathroom particularly the shower weren't that clean, the shower wasnt great and was more like a running tap than a shower, we did let the owner know at breakfast, who said he would look into it, I think maybe a new shower and particularly a cubicle would really make a difference to the room.
You get your own key and a code for the door, it is a quiet guest house infact the only noise I heard was someone snoring next door!
Breakfast is included and had everything you would want and extra coffee etc was not problem! Dinning area is nice it is large bright and clean, not all sat on top of each other.
Guest house is a short taxi ride from town and only a 20 minute walk to the stadium of light! Taxis are well priced.
There is a bar but it was being renovated while we were there.
If going here and you pay by debit card there is a 5% charge (there are signs in the building and he did tell us), just something to consider!
Our stay here was ok for what we wanted, which was somewhere to get our head down after the match /a night out and breakfast was included.
I would consider going back here if maybe the room we were in had a bit of a revamp, for us the shower and cubicle really let it down, but I can only comment on the room we were in!
The service here is VERY good and the owner is a nice guy and happy to help.
