I stayed for two nights recently and found this to be a very good quality hotel, despite it being "budget" and with no restaurant or bar.

This hotel is within walking distance of the main line station - so do your homework if you don't want to be charged £3.80 for the pleasure of a taxi which I was. (If the exit you come out of the station is opposite the main shopping centre / Greggs then turn right, walk up and turn right and the hotel is straight down on the left past Nandos and Frankie and Bennys).

This hotel is about a 15 minute walk to the Stadium of Light.

The room I had, 307, was on the top floor, and last on that level, (numbers can be a bit confusing - don't seem to be in logical order). A good sized room, very clean, basic but I've paid more for a lot worse.

Kurt who checked me in at Reception was very friendly and exceptionally helpful. Housekeeping didn't get to my room until after 2pm so I didn't utilise it although they did leave a letter of concern and clean towels in a bag outside my door.

I was not disturbed by noise inside or outside the hotel.

I would recommend and use this hotel again.

Good location close to town centre. Cheap. Fairly modern room.

Didn't like expensive wifi, car parking arrangements, fixed shower with no height adjustment

Why do I have to add another 45 characters. How stupid.

I have stayed in a few travel lodges before and never hd good experience. However with the lack of hotels in the city, the two main ones being travel lodge, i did not have much choice.

My expectations where low to start with but i can say i was pleasantly suppressed. Granted the hotel is not exactly in a desirable area but the location is convenient for the city centre. The staff where very friendly and helpful, i had to visit reception a few times and each time she was willing to help.

The rooms are basic but have the three key factors; Clean, comftible bed and decent shower. To say clean is a understatement, i would say impeccable. You have a place to hang your clothes, a desk to work, kettle and a tv.

All travel lodges should be at this standard

Room Tip: You can actually ask for a sea view!

Stayed here for a couple of nights not so long ago. This Travelodge is far by the best ever. Its clean, has friendly staff, in a nice quiet location. The rooms are great sized and extremely clean. There is a cinema and a few eating places just a couple of minutes walk away which is great for a night out. Overall I cannot fault this hotel. Would come back again!

Room Tip: Get a room facing the sea

Rooms are very comfortable & clean. Handy location for the city centre with restaurants nearby. Friendly helpful staff. Would definitely stay here again. Probably the nicest travelodge I've stayed in.

Stayed just one night, excellent location, close to town centre, restaurants, bowling alley and cinema all on doorstep..very safe secure building, room absolutely spotless..much respect for room attendents, always looked busy but all had big smiles on their faces!! Nothing too much trouble for them!
