“Fabulous!”
Reviewed 7 July 2014 via mobile

Hotel was fabulous, Matt and Claire were brilliant! Would Definitely stay again! Plenty of towels, couldn't ask for more! I wish I could move the hotel into a better location, as where it is isn't great - but next time I need to stay in a travelodge ill be going here!

Clean well presented room and friendly staff. Overnight stay only and within easy walking distance to the theatre so suited our needs fine. Comfortable bed. Must have 200 characters minimum so here we go. The seagulls can be a bit noisy.

Stayed here when going to the theatre. Was lovely and clean. Very handy for the theatre and surrounding bars. Receptionist was so friendly and helpful and you park in a secure car park. If you have breakfast at frankie and bennys they validate your ticket so you park for free. Well worth the stay so you don't need to get home after the show.

The girl on reception was really welcoming on arrival. The hotel and room were immaculately clean and fresh and a good size. Really pleasant experience! Would definately recommend to others and go back!

My husband and 9 month old baby stayed at the Travelodge end May for 6 nights. We were there to visit my brother who is a student at the Sunderland University. We were hesitant to book this hotel at first, but I'm glad we did.

We arrived an hour before check-in but the staff were kind enough to accommodate us immediately. The room was spacious and clean, a baby's cot was provided immediately, bathroom neat and clean. My only complaint with this hotel is that even though housekeeping was done daily, the room was clean, the sheets however weren't changed at all; none of the 6 nights that we were there.

The location is fine; 5 minutes walk to city center with ample restaurants and bars, the train station was nearby.

This was our second stay. We originate form Sunderland so visit family. A huge improvement to the one in Low Row, which can be very noisy from pub revellers and the fire station. Lovely comfy big beds and very clean. very convenient for the city centre shops (5 mins walk) and the railway station with direct access to Newcastle Airport on the metro. There is a Polish shop over the road that sells basics cheaper than the vending machine. Yes the area is a bit run down, but this is compenated by the convenience of the location.

Room Tip: High floors give good views we were in 205 and had view down the river to the sea and the piers.

The hotel has recently been refurbished and you can tell - it's in quite a good state. The room was very clean and I am glad they got rid of coverlets and had only duvets. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. The location was convenient for my conference, but if you are coming on holiday, the High Street is pretty dead and not very nice. The worst thing about my stay was I had forgotten to pack toothpaste - despite being located on the High Street, the nearest shop was a 20 min walk away (I had no car and had come by train). I was informed by the member of staff that it is not Travelodge's policy to stock complimentary toothpaste for emergencies; instead I had to go down to the vending machine and pay FIVE POUNDS for a TINY tube of toothpaste. And I mean tiny. I had to practically use tweezers to open it. I am shocked by Travelodge's policy of charging an insane amount of money for this. If they can't offer it complimentary (e.g. have some small tubes behind the counter), they should at least charge a decent rate. For this reason, I hope never to visit a Travelodge again.
