“Birthday party”
Reviewed 24 August 2013

Family gathering and birthday party. The classic Med menu has a great choice and a sensible wine list, plenty of local fish and all that but the fillet steak didn't get full marks. The iconic setting is what really makes this restaurant, close to the rocks, with sea views towards Cap Ferrat and full on sunset.

“Fantastic location, fantastic food!”
Reviewed 14 August 2013

What a find! located right on the sea's edge, this restaurant serves fabulous food and the service is excellent. We enjoyed pre-dinner drinks in the lovely lounge area nestled amongst the pine trees before being shown to our table with views of the Med. The food is of a high standard and the rosé wine was excellent !! I would highly recommend this restaurant - it's more expensive than some but, for location and quality it's amazing!

“A great choice for special occasions!”
Reviewed 12 August 2013

We go back to La Pinede every summer for a family reunion. The views are breathtaking and the food is delicious. The starter of saucisson is always a hit and this time I had the fresh lobster spaghetti. Pictures are attached. The waiter brings the lobster live to the table. The food is very fresh and of a very good standard. The service is always very good and the staff very attentive. They have a kids menu for 16 euros which offers the usual plus ice cream and portions are very generous. There is valet parking which is very useful because that could be a nightmare. Definitely would recommend this restaurant!

“The most romantic dinner of our stay”
Reviewed 5 August 2013

We took the menu of 43 euro and we had more than enough...is that expensive? Not really !!! You receive a fantastic first plate with all kind of different small fish ..hmm delicious and than the gambas basilicum are really tasty and we took as dessert pineapple coco cream and dame blanche and this was also very good...but the big asset of this restaurant is the view..whaww ..very romantic and the restaurant is always crowded..so you must book in advance...nice tip': before dinner go first to the lounge bar and take the aperitif there...very cosy seats ....

“The best restaurant and view on the Cote d'Azur”
Reviewed 17 July 2013

Le Pinede was first brought to my attention by the late, great, Michael Winner. Coming here often as he did on his frequent tours to the South of France. Not a single review (and i have read them all fails to be impressed by the stunning setting. I have eaten here with my wife 5 or 6 times a year for the past 9 years. And never once found the food to be anything less than superlative. Some jokers have moaned about the prices? Have they not eaten on the Cote D'Azur before? Do they live in caves? Or is it simply that they are more at home with pizzas in the Cours Saleya, Nice.
The secret to eating here is to arrive early 12.30. Soak up the rays on the breathtaking terrace then have lunch at 2pm. Either order the 42 or 52 euro menu or just have a starter only or main only. DO NOT make the mistake of selecting three a la carte selections. DO NOT even have a starter and main. As both these options will lead you to spending more than the cost of the set menu. Idiots, (see below) have moaned about the cost. But believe me this is the best value around. You know exactly what you are going to spend right from the start with no hidden extras. The fritture (deep fried scampi, squid and whitebait) is to die for. Always opt for the fillet steak (not the rumpsteak or silrloin) or the jumbo prawns and end with one of their trade mark liqueuer soaked Sorbets.
This is the only place that makes me feel like a film star when dining. You can follow your meal with a coffee back on the terrace or take a dip in the adjacent rockpool. They do not mind you returning wet and there is a shower at the top of the stairs.
We regulary arrive early, stay late. And, of course its all so easy as the restaurant is situated just beneath Cap d'Ail station handy for getting back to crowded Nice.
