“Relaxation on the Riviera”
Reviewed 7 July 2011

I had a room on the harbor side with a great view and a balcony. Sitting up there you can just relax and read a book over a glass of wine. The downstairs area had a restaurant that is open air. The location itself is nice as well and a walk to the palace doesn't take much time at all. The distance is short, but its the switchback roads and the inclines that will slow you down.

Chose this hotel because of location and it couldn't have been better. It was beautiful, clean and right in the middle of where you could really go anywhere. I have to say that it was Philippe that made the stay over the top. I emailed the hotel before and he responded and helped us get to the hotel from the airport. We were celebrating a special occassion and I have to say after meeting him I realized he takes his job seriously and will go above and beyond to make your stay the best. Even when the maid service didn't make up the extra bed and it was late and they had already left, he brought up a roll away bed himself and made sure it worked for us. When we were leaving he gave us information how to make getting where we needed to go easy and fun. The staff treated us so nice with a smile and just that extra something that makes you glad you chose the hotel you did. I would recommend this hotel to anyone that is staying in the Monaco area.

Room Tip: WONDERFUL room that has the balcony and panaramic

Having travelled down from Dijon taking 7 1/2 hours, we were very pleased to finally get to our hotel, being a first timer to the area I was unsure with what to expect, this hotel was nicely positioned in front of Monacos many marinas, our 3rd floor room seaview room was perfect to view some stunning yachts, our room 302 was a large size and had a very big bathroom, usual refinements were in place(air con, tv, Internet, tea coffee etc) hotel had it's own car park which was ideal considering space in monte Carlo is so limited, staff were informative a special mention to Phillipe who was very informative and provided us with some welcome tips on where to go during. our stay, the hotel itself was at one end of monte Carlo so visiting the main areas meant taking the complimentary shuttle bus, otherwise getting to and from places meant a long walk!!!! and don't forget there are lots of hills!! This hotel however is a perfect base to visit Monte Carlo and id recommend here for anyone wanting to visit here for the first time.....enjoy!!!

The staff was very good - polite, informative and helpful. Cap d'ail has a nice small and homey feel, probably because it's located next to many condos. I guess you'd like this hotel if you're in it to relax in a peaceful and quiet environment.

We drove to the hotel. Big mistake. The road signs in Monaco make you want to stab yourself in the neck with an unsharpened pencil. They're small, inconsistent and we went dizzy from all the roundabouts, curvy roads and u-turns. And like what a previous reviewer said, the garage access was stupid. You've to drive around the block from the drop off point, to the garage after checking in. The messy roads make this round the block drive complicated.

Approx 20 euros for 24 hours of internet (via lan cable or wifi). Choose the cable if possible. Their wifi connection is not very strong/stable.

My wife and myself stopped in Ireland to pick up my 76 years old mother to take her with us on this, our first trip to Monte Carlo. We flew into Nice and as another reviewer said forget about finding this hotel from your "gps" because the streets are to narrow.
We had planned on staying only 3 nights and then heading up to Paris. We were in Monte Carlo to see the semi final and finals of the Rolex Tennis at MC Country Club. We booked a one bedroon suite which was plenty big and had a queen size pullout bed. The room was on the second floor overlooking the marina....with yachts bigger then some countries navy. There was work going on in the hotel as they were doing some renovations to the pool and bar area.....I'm sure they were getting ready for the Monaco Grand Prix crowd which comes into and takes over Monte Carlo in May.
The staff were a big help. The restaurant was inculded in our price and we had plenty of fresh fruit and breakfest cereals as well as an omelette station each morning.
The hotel shuttle will take you to the center on town and stops a couple of other places if you like on the way.
We picked a Marriott because we didn't want to chance another hotel and be disappointed away from home. We ended up staying in Monte Carlo an extra 2 night and scraped our plans to go to Paris and flew right back to Ireland from Nice and on to Phoenix AZ from there. Philipe and Charlotte at the front deck were most helpful and both speak excellent english.

Room Tip: Try and get an upper floor if possible.

My wife and I spent 3 nights in the hotel (a few more in Paris). From check in to check out, the service was fantastic. Everyone we came in contact with was very helpful and friendly. Not to mention very tolerant of my extremely poor French. All of them spoke very good English so there was no communication issues at all. They were just finishing up the new restaurant (poolside it appears). Looks like it's going to be wonderful but we just missed it. They did bring us out one of the new desserts to try however and it was very good. We stayed on reward points so I cannot speak to value too much. However we paid the extra 40 Euros a night for the sea view room. The room was very spacious and the view was fantastic. Well worth it! Monaco and the surrounding area are about as expensive as one would expect but I wouldn't say outrageous.

The hotel offers a shuttle to a few of the local attractions such as the Monte Carlo, the Palace and the train station but they do not offer a shuttle back. However getting back it not too difficult. It's not far of a walk from anywhere in Monaco back to the hotel.

As far as getting there, we chose to pay for a town car from the Nice airport to the Hotel. It was about $140 and took roughly 40 minutes (perhaps a little less, we were tired). As we had never been there before, it was worth the money to get there. Coming back, we took the train from Monaco to Nice. That was easy once we were familiar with the train system. There aren't any taxi's around in Nice from the train station that we saw, but walking down the hill, just follow the signs painted on the sidewalk to the bus. 1 Euro bus ride that is about 5 minutes and you're there. Far cheaper and simple.

We had a fabulous time. I couldn't be any happier with the hotel and the staff.

This hotel is conveniently located to shopping, harbor, and the sights. The front desk supervisor was extremely helpful in assisting me with a lost bag. I left a bag on the train from Paris and was unable to find it in the lost baggage area of the train station in Marseilles where it was suppose to be stored. Because I did not speak french and the baggage clerk didn't speak very much English we didn't get anywhere in getting my bag back. So when I got to the hotel I asked the supervisor if she could help me. She was very kind and tried to find out about the bag but was unable to get it back either. But I was extremely grateful for her help.

The restaurant in the hotel is very good and reasonably priced for the location. We had a balcony room with a view of the harbor it was gorgeous. The room was clean and comfortable. I would stay here again.
