easy check in with really friendly staff , we booked a mountain view room and up graded to a port view with balcony room as the rooom was very small it was worth everypenny of the 40 euro , the hotel is ok but not great ...the breakfast was good , the room service was not great either , the aircon was really bad , the room was always hot , the hotel is on the edge of town so it was a 10 mins walk to town centre . we used the shuttle a couple of times which was never full , BUT the hotel staff are really amazing.. any problems [and there was a few ]were dealt with quickly , nothing was to much trouble for any of them , we would stay here again but this hotel would not be our first choice .

Room Tip: balcony room

I stayed here in early September for business. Location was great- walking distance to a small beach/park. The Stadium and some shops including Carrefour was also quite close. The outside lounge area/ bar from the lobby was fabulous. It was a wonderful area to unwind after a long day. Free wifi in the conference rooms was a nice touch.

However, the rooms were just ok. The view was great - I could see the port with all the boats lined up. Room service was very friendly- food was just ok. The bad? The rooms were very humid and would never seem to cool enough for me to sleep through the night. A colleague mentioned he had the same temperature problem. The carpet was very stained- I considered wearing shoes while in the room. The in- room wifi was a whopping $19 euros a day and only allowed for connecting one device. Connecting multiple devices were additional $19 euros/day.

All in all it was a decent hotel but the rooms can use some upgrades.

I stayed at this hotel in April 2011 ,during the Monte Carlo Tennis Tournament . It has a great view of the Marina, it is a walking distance to very good nearby restaurants, the public bus service just across the road is very practical for public transportation ( but we rarely needed it since the free and very friendly hotel shuttle service was perfect ).The room service was very good . Breakfast was very good. And for tennis players, there is a tennis club just next to the hotel whereby the hotel can book playing hours for you and you can play with the pro if you do not have a playing partner.

Room Tip: Reserve a room which has a good view of the Marina

I booked this hotel on Marriott points for 1 night. Since we got there late on the first night and only had 1 day there, we probably should've booked for 2 nights to experience all Monaco had to offer. We drove to the hotel. Parking was 22 Euros/night. The roads are very difficult to navigate and since they were restructuring the roads, the GPS had a hard time getting us to the hotel. We had to stop and ask an officer for directions. His advice was to follow the signs for "Stad Louis" and that was the best advice (saying "go left, then right, then around the loop" def would NOT have helped since the roads are sooo complicated).

Room was disappointing and not up to Marriott standards. Nothing special about the rooms or the mountain view. Sea view might've been worth it since I think the rooms are a tad bigger but all you really see is the port. Free minibar in the room for platinum members. Consist of Pepsi, Corona, Heineken, bubbly and non-bubbly water, gummy bears, peanuts, chips, orange juice, and iced tea.

Shuttle makes 3 stops within Monaco and leaves on the hour from the hotel (they have a shuttle timetable at the front desk). If you know the time you'd like to leave, book in advance. It's not a walk up service and if people have booked and they run out of seats, you're out of luck. Shuttle drops you off but doesn't pick you up so make sure you know how to get back. It's not difficult but as mentioned before, the streets of Monaco aren't that easy to navigate. Best bet is to walk towards the stadium. Think visual cues are better than a map for such a small country.

There's a big grocery store (Carrefour, I think) nearby. In the same shopping complex with an "elevator" you use to get up to one of the main city sections. Around a 10-15 min walk.

In summary, if you're looking at this hotel as a place to rest up for the night to experience Monaco then I would recommend it as it is fairly close to some of the attractions. I wouldn't recommend this hotel as a luxury hotel to use for lounging around and sun or pool.

We booked this hotel because we had marriott points. And we upgraded to a room with a lounge deck and patio...it was worth the 40 euros. we woke up and had a gorgeous view of the port and the mountainside. The staff was very helpful with directions and provided a map. They offer free transportation to anywhere in monaco. However, we elected to walk since it is such a beautfiul city. We walked to Lavotto beach which took about an hour (we stopped and had a snack and took pictures). The beach was awesome. For 24 Euros we got two lounge chairs and an umbrella for the entire day. we ate lunch for under 25 euros. It was an awesome day.

Room Tip: get the 40 euro upgrade for the patio deck.

I booked this hotel becasue I didn't want any surprises. I had a completely different impression from the photographs than what actually was. The location was on a strange side street in a very business-oriented area and not attractive at all.

However, when I checked in, the staff were wonderful. I began to feel better. Then we walked into the elevator which was old, run down and very small. My heart began to sink as we walked along the corridor and came to our room. The room was small, and looking out onto a construction site. I immediately checked the price to get a better room and declined; nothing is cheap on the Riviera.

By morning, I heard a "drip, drip, drip", which sooned turned into a considerable leak from the ceiling. Upon checkout, I mentioned this and our overall disappointment, and the manager quickly gave us a 20% discount. As I mentioned earlier, the staff bent over backwards to help and be of service - quite a change from the French experience I have had for many years! The restaurant was simple and quite nice - facing the marina. They have a great shuttle service to the train station and the port. But if you are expecting a typical US Marriot experience as far as construction standards and aesthetics, you will be disappointed. If you just want a place to sleep while waiting for your cruise out of Monte Carlo the next day, I suppose it would be ok, given the other incredibly expensive choices in the area.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the Marina

Booked using Marriott Reward points and upgraded to a room on the 'Riviera' floor (floors 10 & 11). Room was good and well appointed, with separate balcony overlooking the port and out to sea. Room was not as large as many other Marriott hotels. This room also featured a mini-bar with free beverages (soft drinks, beers) and snacks, which were offered free of charge - probably as a substitute for the 'Executive Lounges' found in other Marriott properties, but which is not available at this hotel.

I ordered room service, which arrived promptly and was offered a choice from the main restaurant menu (at the same prices), in addition to the usual room service fare. The server was friendly and offered to set up the food on the balcony table, allowing me to enjoy the view while eating. Prices for both food and drink in the hotel were very reasonable I thought for a hotel of this class and the location (6 euros for a glass of wine, most main courses c. 20 euros, 2 x scoops ice cream dessert 5 euros).

I did not use the gym, but went for a swim. The pool is pleasant, but not particularly large and I struggled to find a sun lounger at 11.30am. Although this was during a reasonably busy period over the school holidays.

There is a free shuttle bus running c. every 30 mins into Monaco (can request a number of different drop-off points) and the driver was friendly and courteous. I was the only passenger on the shuttle at the time and he gave a commentary of the principality and the sights as we drove. Note this bus is for drop-off into Monaco only, guests need to make their own way back (15 mins walk from the Monaco port area), or a bus/taxi.

Overall a good stay. I would return. I felt that incidentals were good value, with good service. I cannot comment on the value of the room itself, as paid for with reward points.

Room Tip: Request Riviera room (high floor - floor 10/11) and/or balcony
