“Dinner with friends from UK”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 July 2014

Pleasant evening dinner with friends visiting from Liverpool, one of their favourite restaurants in St Julian's. 2 kinds of bruschetta, garlic bread, mozzarella & tomatoes for starters, fish kebab, 2 rib eye, 2 pizza calzone, 2 beef fillet accompanied by roast/fried potatoes, vegetables and salads, wine beer soft drinks and water. Icecream and cheese cake + liqueurs.

“Superb food and view”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 July 2014

The location of this restaurant on Spinola Bay gives wonderful views from any table.

The food is very nice and plenty of choice. We have bruscetta and pasta during lunch and washed it down with a nice NZ Sauvingnon Blanc which was reasonable priced.

Well worth a visit or two.

“There is better out there”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 July 2014

Food was nice although very small portions (unusual for Malta), service was ok but restaurant was quiet when we arrived and as it got busier you could see the staff struggling to keep on top. Our waiter spoke no English which wasn't a massive issue but made things slightly harder to do. Beautiful setting and lovely views but definitely nicer places to eat even just next door.

“It's all in the location!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 May 2014

I've rated the restaurant as average as didn't eat here. We had drinks on the terrace a few days. We ordered rose wine and it was a very nice bottle of local wine (€10.60). The terrace does get busy, probably because it is in such a good location on the bay. It was a lovely place to sit and look across the water whilst sipping a cold drink. You could choose from sitting in sunshine or shade.

“Atmospheric, restful”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 May 2014

I like this restaurant! I had grilled swordfish with a salad and baked potato accompanied by a half bottle of dry white Special Reserve wine, which all came to about 22 euros. I ate indoors, but there is a nice terrace overlooking the bay. Raffael and the next-door San Giuliano are old boathouses built in the 17th century by the owners of the nearby Palazzo Spinola. You dine under impressive groined vaults built with the local honey-coloured limestone. A blessed absence of music--just the low hubbub of conversation. Just writing about it makes me want to go back!
