“Diabolical”
Reviewed 20 September 2013

Ordered pork chop which tasted pretty nasty and a fillet steak which was grissily and just not coked right - the poor quality of meat was inediible and the staff were confrontational and aggressive and would strongly recommend to stay away

“pretty awful”
Reviewed 20 August 2013

found kandles on our first night in st juliens bay,it looked very traditional from the outside so we went in,only got seated and the waiter was over and stuck a plate of fish under our noses,ok we thought he likes showing off his fresh fish,,but we both settled for a steak, well done we said, the wine was tasty and our steaks arrived with blood pouring out the middle ,i ate mine but my wife left a fair chunk of hers,,decided to have another visit a couple of nights later,i plumped for the veal my wife had pasta,,the veal was a disaster over cooked and hard, not very nice,my wifes pasta was rubbery, all this and the waiter was running about like a mad man everything was a hundred miles an hour,,enough to say we payed our bill and left,,,,,AVOID.

“disappointing”
Reviewed 26 June 2013

looked good as we walked down a street with many restaurants, some special deal in the window caught my eye, and in we went.
How can you cook frogs' legs without flavor? ask their chef. On top of that, my sea bream was overcooked and tough. We won't be back. Oh, and the service was just so so, although the folks seemed friendly enough.

“Tasty Rabit Stew”
Reviewed 25 June 2013

After an evening of a too British dinner, included in our hotel package, we decided to go out for dinner in St. Julians. We ended up in the busy center of Paceville in restaurant Kandles, where we went for the local dish: rabit stew. Actually this stew is just one of the many dishes the Maltese people prepare with their favorite rodent. The stew served in Kandles was prepared in a tasty and spicy tomato sauce with a hint of cinnamon. Served with the famous local potatoes and salad we enjoyed a tasty meal, as did our colleagues who ate fresh tuna and pizza. The free house wine was a bit of a disappointment though.

“Maltese food”
Reviewed 24 June 2013

Quiet, friendly, good value, good food. Fish is quite expensive on Malta but here quite reasonable. Free wine with our meal and relaxing atmosphere. Not the best but worth a try.
