“Not boutique nor do they know what a jr suite is...”
Reviewed 23 June 2012

Booked this as I wanted a bit of space to work and relax in so went for a junior suite. First room was a family room with two double beds filling whole room! 2nd was just a bedroom, two small chairs do not a junior suite make. Eat there one night, very average and disinterested service. Front desk staff very attentive but don't know a suite from a std room. Pricy for what it is, Juliana opposite is third of price for same thing!

Dear Reviewer,

Thank you for taking your time in reviewing The George. We apologise that our Junior Suite did not meet your expectations and welcome your comments. In fact all our Junior Suites should have a two-seater sofa and an armchair. We did notice that a sofa was mistakenly missing in your room and placed it in your room accordingly.

We have photos of our 40 metre squared Junior Suites on our web site (hotel link available at the top of this page) and we recommend that all our prospective clients have a look at this before making their room choice.

I trust that the above clarifies the matter. Thanks once again for choosing The George for your stay in Malta.

The hotel is in a good central location. The service, quality of rooms was outstanding - the staff were attentive and helped out whenever we had questions about the island/places to eat/the Maltese people.
The hotel was always, clean welcoming and a welcome retreat from a busy day of sunbathing and sightseeing.

the only feedback I would give is that the pool side bar didn't seem to keep the same hours on all days of the week - there were some glorious evenings by the pool that would have been made much better by an ice cold beer!

Room Tip: Select a room with a balcony - there is a little bit of outside news but its worth it to be able to...

The hotel was an absolute pleasure to stay in - the staff were really friendly, the indoor and outdoor pool were gorgeous and our room was amazing! We were given a lower penthouse suite which was large with all the facilities we needed and the beds were really comfy. Really made our holiday fantastic and I would recommend it to anyone - great location near to bars, restaurants, beach and access to the rest of the island is easy. There is a restaurant in the hotel open until midnight which was so handy as our flight got in late and we didn't have to go out and look for anything as soon as we arrived and it wasn't too expensive either. The lobby area is really comfy and offers free wifi which was good. Would of liked the pool to be open past 8 as we enjoyed it so much but that's my only small criticism. Definitely want to go back!!

First time to Malta... Booked this hotel on Expedia a few weeks before travelling... Reasonably priced... Staff were very pleasant and helpful always smiling... Went out of their way to help us on a couple of occasions... Free wifi in the lobby was fast and reliable... Rooms were huge with amazing contemporary bathrooms, large balcony, huge beds, plus a few extras like large flat screen tv, ipod/iphone dock, etc... Room was on the first floor and the hotel was in a busy urban area, but noise or pollution wasn't a problem... loads of shops, cafe's restaurants, pubs and clubs within a few mins walk from the hotel... Public transport to all major tourist attractions and a tour guide desk in the lobby...

Room Tip: Not sure what to suggest, have only stayed at this hotel on one occasion, our room was on the first...

this was my second stay in this contemporary design hotel, large rooms, spacious bathrooms (they even spoil their guests with Molton Brown toiletries).
Good breakfast selection. I loved the pool and terrace on the roof. Waterfront just down the road.
Efficient and helpfull staff.
Many restaurants around

Room Tip: 310 wuth a balcony

This review is written for a stay in the George in early June, so therefore not the height if the season and needs to be read in this context.
Fantastic value and reasonably quiet for this time of year. If you want a reasonably quiet hotel and one not near the nightlife too much then out of season I can definitely say that this hotel fits the bill! In high season I would suggest it would be noisier, just because if where it is in relation to the bars etc.
Room was really lovely. We had a junior suite and a courtyard room, the junior for me and husband and 8 year old and courtyard room for our 19 year old! Clean and good beds and showers. Plenty of space and well decorated. There's a fridge in each room, for you to fill with water bottles etc. really found this handy. We found our rooms very clean and the maid service came and made beds and tidied every day. We tried not to request fresh towels unless we needed them, but if we left them on the floor for collection, they were always changed as required.
The swimming pool on the roof is not huge but good enough for a swim, with sunbeds and a rooftop bar. Towels are provided by the hotel for the pool. Did not use the spa, but others did and said that they enjoyed the treatments they had and said it was a nice small relaxing area with an indoor pool for over 21s only. Ou can use the spa pool if you are not having treatments too.
There is a 24hour snack area where you can buy drinks hot and cold and wraps, sandwiches etc. very reasonably priced. We found the hotel bar really reasonable and coffee and cakes well priced. Breakfast is I think acceptable for the price. It's typically Mediterranean, but there is a cooked breakfast too, bacon, tomatoes, mushrooms, frankfurter type sausages! Our 8 year old loved it!
The staff were lovely, really friendly and very helpful.
We loved e reception area. Full of big comfy sofas and free wi-fi. Brilliant before going out for dinner, we sat and had drinks from the bar and used our iPads etc. to catch up on things. Our 8 year old used the computers provided at reception area, great facility.
We enjoyed our stay at the hotel and if we went back to Malta would stay again.
