“Good hotel, restaurant closed”
Reviewed 2 March 2013

This was a very luxury hotel, staff very attentive, although the whole place was quiet and not many people around due to the season. There was no issue with noise from the Paceville nightclubs mainly due to the season, but we also made sure we booked a sea outlook room which is the other side of the hotel from the nightclubs and bars.

We booked a penthouse suite which was excellent, 2 rooms lrage balcony, very nice for sun bathing when we got some very good February weather! All very modern. Main complaint on the roon is the TV channels, there are lots of international channels but mostly in non-English and you have to pay for them seperatley, for englich speaking you have Sky News and BBC World, i think this is poor for this standard of hotel. You do get free internet wifi in reception though.

The other main complaint was when we arrived at the hotel we were told that the pre-booked meal be had ordered as part of the booking could not be honoured as the restaurant was closed that week for renovations. This was poor, we booked a special offer for meals when booking the hotel and to be told on arrival we could not have this was not good, a courtesy email beforehand would have been nice. They offered a refund of the meal cost only, some sort of other gesture would have been nice to make up for this. The restuarant did look nice and did not appear to be getting work done, I suspect it was closed due to the seaosn for that week to let all staff off on a break.

Health Spa was good, nice pool, not large but room ebough for swimming lengths, spa and steam room also. The changing rooms were small, not really sure how they would work with more people around the hotel. Roof top pool looked great and would be super in the summer, perhaps limited seating though if the hotel was busy. We also too advantage of the health club treatments, the facilities here were very good for massages etc, again it was very quiet but the facility was still open and staffed well, we were suprised when we had to pay seperatley and return robes etc as this spa is run seperatley from the hotel so bills cannot be added to your room bill

My GF and I stayed at the George for a couple of nights as a kind of holiday within a holiday (we were staying in Malta with Mum but wanted to get away a little) it was well worth it, a very pleasant hotel nicely decorated, was a bit miffed at having to pay for the hire of Bathrobes in a Spa Hotel and not having any tea or coffee facilities in room, but these are minor gripes.

Room Tip: We booked early but we could have saved €€€€ by booking later.

A wonderful hotel in the middle of the busy Paceville nightlife. The staff were very helpful and friendly, the spa was wonderful and we upgraded to a deluxe room which was huge and had a balcony from where we could see the sea. The roof top pool area was a treat in the warm afternoons and as we are quite middle aged ( 60ish) we enjoyed the comfort of the hotel and weren't disturbed by the noise from the nightclubs and bars around Paceville. The hotel is ideally placed for the main Arriva bus stop and within walking distance to lovely bars and restaurants.

Room Tip: Rooms on the street side might be noisier in summer

I stayed in Hotel for 6 days. Breakfast was excellent but coffee not. Coffee in bar was tasty, indoor pool and sauna - very nice. I used roof poolI too. My room was in 6-th floor, I did not hear noise from Pacewille. I will stay in hotel next time.

Hi Gintaras,

Thank you for choosing The George for your stay in Malta and for taking time in reviewing the hotel. We actually agree with your feedback about coffee at breakfast and have upgraded the coffee to the same quality as the one at the coffee bar . As from the 1st February all guests having breakfast are entitled to complimentary Illy cappuccino and espresso. You will no doubt enjoy these on your return to The George !!

Kind regards,
Malcolm

We were one week in a "studio". This hotel is very confortable because of its location (near the center of Paceville... ). We were very well welcomed by a kind staff. The rooms are clean and spacious, with a good and modern equipment. Bed is not too bad, exepted the pillows. We had a kitchen in the studio, very practical for us. There is an italian restaurant inside the hotel but we did not test it. Reception had differents services as internet desk, the ambiance is nice. There is a "spa" too : the swimming pool is nice, as the hammam and jaccuzi (we did not test the sauna).
Well, in conclusion i would recommand it and could be ready to have an other stay there...

This hotel really meets the standard of an european city hotel. We stayed in the penthouse suite on fifth floor with a view on the sea. The sun leaves the big terasse very early at this time of the year but you can join the big pool terrace on the roof top. The room was big and very nicely furnished. Even if the hotel is in the middle of the night life area it is calm enough to sleep well. The spa offers a lot of treatments beside the sauna and the pool.

Room Tip: the penthouse suite on fifth are facing the sea, the penthouse suites on 6th floor are facing the to...

I was pleasantly surprised on arriving at the George. It is decorated to a high standard and the room the front desk service was efficient. My bedroom was excellent (5th floor) with all necessary mod cons (flat screen TV, iPod speaker, fridge etc.).

I ate in the hotel the first evening. The food was great, the service friendly and the price reasonable. The ambience was not favoured by the quietness of the restaurant, it being January.

I was very disappointed by the spa. I had planned to have multiple treatments, but ended up just one due to an unsatisfactory experience (full body massage). Whilst the spa area is decorated well, the service details are not there. No changing area, no robes, I was kept waiting for my appointment and to top it off, my massage was performed by a masseur who spoke little English and wore latex gloves! Not what I had expected.

The only other issues experienced were with the plumbing (toilets not flushing) - although this was promptly resolved and delays with my room being cleaned (sometimes after 4pm).

The upstairs sun deck and pool area are lovely and would be ideal when the weather is better.

All in all, I enjoyed my stay but the service could be friendlier and the spa definitely need attention.
