Wi-fi spotty, TV service not the most reliable.
Then again, who goes to Malta to watch TV and surf the internet?

Location is fantastic, you won't find a better group of employees quickly solving any issues you may have.

Lounges and cushions in pool area were moldy and gross, but the room was impeccably clean.

If you are a sound-sensitive person, look for something farther out.

Room Tip: Room 506 is the most "private", but not as private as you may think.

Hi Josh,

Thanks for taking your time in reviewing The George. We appreciate your feedback and we will look into the issues that you have raised. We are continuously looking at improving our wi-fi service within the hotel and would appreciate if you could let me know your room number at ma@thegeorgemalta.com so we could look into this further.

As regards to the sun lounger cushions, we launder these regularly but as you can imagine in peak season this sometimes is not enough. We have actioned this and will ensure cushion covers are up to the cleanliness level found in the rest of the hotel.

Kind regards,
Malcolm

We stayed at the George Hotel ,July 2013, we booked a penthouse suit. The rooms are spacious but spartan, the rooms were cleaned daily, however the sun terrace suffered from debris thrown from the roof top pool area which was not cleaned. There are no parasols on the terrace which would be beneficial, the terrace is not private either. We suffered poor sleep quality because of noise from the roof top pool, people swimming and the pool being cleaned, in the early hours, we did complain about this, however, we noticed no improvement. We eat only twice at the Hotel in the two weeks that we stayed because of the poor quality of the food. Breakfast was only ok but not great. The hotel is located in a busy area of St Julian close to many good restaurants which is a plus. I would not recommend this hotel to a friend.

Hi there,

Thank you for taking your time in reviewing The George. We apologise that not all services were to your satisfaction during your stay with us. Our Penthouse suite terraces are not currently equipped with a parasol, however we will be taking up on your suggestion and we will look at having one on each of our penthouse suite terraces.

We will also look into rescheduling the cleaning schedule to reduce the noise inconvenience accordingly.

Kind regards,
Malcolm

We stayed at the Penthouse suite. They are spacious and have a big terrace with your own sun loungers. It is however not private. Your neighboring penthouses can peak in between the "fence" made out of random bushes and a palm tree. (in need of some gardening soon maybe?) People at the roof top pool can also look down at you. The hotel is located in a very dense area so if you enjoy the voyaristic aspect of watching others than this is the place for you.

Pool area fills up fast and people hoard the chairs for hours.
Please clean the covers/cushions in the lounge area by the pool bar. They are so disgusting, filled with stains/sweat and old sun tanning lotion. Yuck!
Please provide a big pool towel that fits the loungers.
There was a guy cleaning the balcony window glass but he only cleaned half of the glass because his arm could not reach the rest. I mean Really??

Have someone walk up and down the pool area and ask if they want to order anything. I and others had to walk over to the pool bar every 20 minutes to order drinks/food =/. I am sure by adding this service will increase your profits even more.

The room had a musty smell but it didn't bother us (We have lived in central america) One night we woke up with bites and realized the bed was filled with ants. They moved us very quickly so no issue there and great action by the staff.

All and all good decent hotel but they need someone with attention to details. My advise? hire an american hotel consultant and you will be Number 1 in st Julians in no time.

Good luck.

Are well worth booking in relation to the rest of the hotels rooms, especially rooms 503-506. The suites are meticulously cleaned every day and have excellent private balconies. The front desk staff at The George and bar staff are absolutely brilliant, thank you for making our recent stay a real pleasure. Would we stay again, yes we would ! The Hotels restaurant also looks very good although we never got round to using it. The George is right at he centre of things in St Julians, only the pool is a bit of a let down but you can always book in at any of the resorts in the locality.

This hotel had the potential to be very good, but sadly fell short in a number of areas. It is situated opposite a language school, and several of the students are staying at the hotel - appreciated more by teenage guests! This means that they dominate the area and sunbeds around the pool most of the time. We stayed for a week, expecting the full boutique experience. However, our room wasn't ready when we arrived after 3pm; and wasn't cleaned and serviced the following day until after 5pm, when we returned from a day out. We had to contact the house keeper (Geraldine) to get the bathroom cleaned which was filthy on arrival; and also had the massive crack in the ceiling looked at to check it was only cosmetic. The room lacked the usual facilities, so no radio, no kettle, no mini bar, no tissues, no shaving mirror in the bathroom. I had to buy some slippers from reception as these weren't supplied either. The sheets weren't regularly changed, we had to strip the beds and ask to get this done. (Another couple did the same - great minds think alike). There were only 2 glasses in the room although there were 3 occupants. Geraldine was very apologetic and sorted out a lot of the problems, organising a complimentary meal in the excellent hotel restaurant. (We ate there again as it was so good). The duty manager brought up a bottle of wine. Staff varied tremendously, some like Clara and Philip were very good and friendly, others weren't able to cope (rude) and were less effective. Disappointing breakfast food: no butter. awful bacon, spitting coffee machine - but very helpful staff. The area to the left of the hotel is foull, the drains smell of poo, the pavements cracked, dirty and dangerous. There is litter everywhere - the streets were cleaned once in the week. Not recommend for children or mature adults.
However, the hotel spa is brilliant! We had fabulous back, shoulder and head massages and really recommend it.

I stayed with my husband and we chose this hotel as we had a penthouse suit, which include its own private sunbathing patio, plus a lounge, fridge and free in room wifi.

The rooms were spotless when we arrived and kept to that standard by the cleaners.

The hotel staff were all very helpful especially Josef and Bjorn, who made restaurant and taxi reservations for us.

The hotel pool is only small, but as I only chose to swim in it early morning before others were up that was fine.

The hotel has a large lobby which is airconditioned and offer free computor use as well as Wifi.

The positioning of the hotel is very close to the very lively Paceville area but we were never disturbed by this. Although we think you might be on the otherside of the hotel.

All in all we had a great stay and would recommend to anyone paying the extra for the Penthouse Rooms.

Room Tip: Rooms above the hotel enterance on Paceville Street are probably quieter and offer a limited sea vie...

I have mixed feelings about this hotel. Though I liked the very clean look and modern feel, I really hated the location. This was not my choice, however, since it was a company trip. This area of town is so obnoxious at night and littered with underage kids going clubbing. Really weird seeing that the average age appeared to be 12, but I digress. My room was nice enough, the view was...meh. It appeared clean enough and the staff was helpful. I think it was overpriced for the location and digs.
