I really think the atmosphere is nothing like the rest of malta. First of all it was freezing in the hotel, they just kept putting our airconditioning on 15 C, even when we asked not to.
It wasn't welcoming at all. The receptionist was awful, the pool wasn't deeper then 1m50, and I had to give them hundred euros which I could spend in the hotel, if not I would got it back. You coud watch films in the rooms (ofcourse you'll pay for it). When we didn't use this, suddenly the television was on when we came back and was in menu of films. You could just smell the marketing!

We had our reservation with breakfast, which was clear by the people at the reception but not with the people in the breakfastroom. I had to take care of it myself during breakfast time. Speaking of hospitality?

I'd advice you a more cozy hotel or appartement, it would be more like the rest of Malta and the simple way of living which makes it a magical place.

Hi there,

Thank you for taking your time in reviewing The George. We are naturally upset that you did not have a great time with us. It is also strange that you could not control your room temperature as all rooms have an independent temperature control allowing maximum control to our guests.

As regards to the €100, this is a deposit that we require on check in for any extras that may be consumed during your stay. This naturally is returned in check out if not utilised. I would also appreciate if you could send the name of the receptionist who was not too helpful directly at ma@thegeorgemalta.com and what particularly was not to your satisfaction as we take these complaints rather seriously.

Kind regards,
Malcolm

Good boutique style hotel. Good rooms and satisfactory breakfast. Choice of restaurants abound very close to the hotel especially Spinola Bay. St Julian's is night club area but hotel well sound proofed. Parking available underground. Main bus routes to Valletta within 5 mins walk. Will stay here again.

Website having some misleading factors:

Firstly the Junior suites states that they have "bathtubs or showers", when me and my girlfriend went for our valentine getaway, we arrived in our room and phoned reception to enquire if it was possible to be transferred to another junior suite with a bathtub, because ours had only a shower, we were informed that the only rooms that had bathtubs were the penthouse suites and this was only available at an extra charge of 20 euro per night, so that our stay was as perfect as we wished it to be we opted for this change even though on the website this is not stated. Which lead to another disappointing factor which was the tv was in another room which meant having to stay on an uncomfortable couch to watch.
Also the website stated the indoor pool was heated when we got there the neither the indoor pool nor the jacuzzi was heated, (this was in february so the water was quite cold).

Finally in replying to THEIR request to let them know how our stay, while commending them on their strong points a nice recptionist, welcoming atmosphere, lovely breakfast, I also outlined what, to us, were disappointing. I only wrote this e-mail because they asked for our thoughts. No reply was ever sent back to me and I found that very bad customer service, not even an acknoledgment that my e-mail was ever read.

I still go on hotel breaks with my girlfriend and her family quite often, 3-4 times a year but I will not be going back to the George hotel nor recommending it to anyone who is looking for a nice break away when there are much better for the same price i.e. meridien, marina, etc.

Wi-fi spotty, TV service not the most reliable.
Then again, who goes to Malta to watch TV and surf the internet?

Location is fantastic, you won't find a better group of employees quickly solving any issues you may have.

Lounges and cushions in pool area were moldy and gross, but the room was impeccably clean.

If you are a sound-sensitive person, look for something farther out.

Room Tip: Room 506 is the most "private", but not as private as you may think.

Hi Josh,

Thanks for taking your time in reviewing The George. We appreciate your feedback and we will look into the issues that you have raised. We are continuously looking at improving our wi-fi service within the hotel and would appreciate if you could let me know your room number at ma@thegeorgemalta.com so we could look into this further.

As regards to the sun lounger cushions, we launder these regularly but as you can imagine in peak season this sometimes is not enough. We have actioned this and will ensure cushion covers are up to the cleanliness level found in the rest of the hotel.

Kind regards,
Malcolm

We stayed at the George Hotel ,July 2013, we booked a penthouse suit. The rooms are spacious but spartan, the rooms were cleaned daily, however the sun terrace suffered from debris thrown from the roof top pool area which was not cleaned. There are no parasols on the terrace which would be beneficial, the terrace is not private either. We suffered poor sleep quality because of noise from the roof top pool, people swimming and the pool being cleaned, in the early hours, we did complain about this, however, we noticed no improvement. We eat only twice at the Hotel in the two weeks that we stayed because of the poor quality of the food. Breakfast was only ok but not great. The hotel is located in a busy area of St Julian close to many good restaurants which is a plus. I would not recommend this hotel to a friend.

Hi there,

Thank you for taking your time in reviewing The George. We apologise that not all services were to your satisfaction during your stay with us. Our Penthouse suite terraces are not currently equipped with a parasol, however we will be taking up on your suggestion and we will look at having one on each of our penthouse suite terraces.

We will also look into rescheduling the cleaning schedule to reduce the noise inconvenience accordingly.

Kind regards,
Malcolm

We stayed at the Penthouse suite. They are spacious and have a big terrace with your own sun loungers. It is however not private. Your neighboring penthouses can peak in between the "fence" made out of random bushes and a palm tree. (in need of some gardening soon maybe?) People at the roof top pool can also look down at you. The hotel is located in a very dense area so if you enjoy the voyaristic aspect of watching others than this is the place for you.

Pool area fills up fast and people hoard the chairs for hours.
Please clean the covers/cushions in the lounge area by the pool bar. They are so disgusting, filled with stains/sweat and old sun tanning lotion. Yuck!
Please provide a big pool towel that fits the loungers.
There was a guy cleaning the balcony window glass but he only cleaned half of the glass because his arm could not reach the rest. I mean Really??

Have someone walk up and down the pool area and ask if they want to order anything. I and others had to walk over to the pool bar every 20 minutes to order drinks/food =/. I am sure by adding this service will increase your profits even more.

The room had a musty smell but it didn't bother us (We have lived in central america) One night we woke up with bites and realized the bed was filled with ants. They moved us very quickly so no issue there and great action by the staff.

All and all good decent hotel but they need someone with attention to details. My advise? hire an american hotel consultant and you will be Number 1 in st Julians in no time.

Good luck.

Are well worth booking in relation to the rest of the hotels rooms, especially rooms 503-506. The suites are meticulously cleaned every day and have excellent private balconies. The front desk staff at The George and bar staff are absolutely brilliant, thank you for making our recent stay a real pleasure. Would we stay again, yes we would ! The Hotels restaurant also looks very good although we never got round to using it. The George is right at he centre of things in St Julians, only the pool is a bit of a let down but you can always book in at any of the resorts in the locality.
