“Sweet staff, uncomfortable beds”
Reviewed 10 March 2014 via mobile

The extra star is for the friendly, welcoming, warm and charming staff.
The hotel is nice and clean, rooms are with good style, pool and gym-for-2 is fun, but four nights in these beds are way too much for my spine. The mattress is too soft and unbalanced, and so does the pillows.

Avoid rooms at the back of the hotel, next to service elevator. It ain't awful because during nights and morning is quiet, but during the day resting is tough for all the banging and staff's talks and singing :-)

Breakfast was satisfying. One day vegetables weren't fresh enough, but other than that everything was ok.

You expect to sleep better in any place, but anything else was nice and the staff's attitude was delightful.

We'd booked this hotel for a family short-break during half-term and felt we'd made an excellent choice. We caught the X2 bus from the Airport and hopped off at St Julian's, finding the hotel was only 100m (uphill) from the bus stop. We had purchased a 7-day bus pass which at 6.50 Euros was great value, including airport transfers, and we used our passes to explore Malta over the next four days. The concierge staff were friendly and helpful; our nine year old son enjoyed the pancakes and omelettes cooked to order at breakfast, and whilst the top-floor swimming pool was too cold to use on this occasion we enjoyed the far-reaching views. There is a good selection of restaurants around the hotel, plus small supermarkets. Was also able to watch the European Football on the lounge big screen!

This hotel, while tucked away up a side street, is an excellent one.

At time of our visit, early March, the hotel was quiet but service was excellent, our room was kept immaculately clean and tidy and the facilities were top notch.

Free wifi throughout the hotel was always available.

We'd booked for b &b and was very pleased with the selection of food for our breakfast and there was the option of a 4 course evening dinner for only €16.50.

Drinks at the bar were cheap...€3 for a bud and my wife indulged in several Brandies at only €3.50 a shot.

Rooms were comfy and quiet. There was always hot water and I thoroughly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a hotel in Malta that's close to all the facilities of Paceville and St Julian's have to offer including many excellent restaurants and bars!

Room Tip: Get a deluxe room where possible.

Nice hotel, big rooms, mainly friendly staff...breakfasts good. Nice decor. However, if you are renting a car , the streets nearby don't really make it clear when you are allowed to park. When we asked the girl on the desk what the restrictions meant and where we could park , she just shrugged her shoulders. We parked at hotel for 5 euros a day and 20 euros key deposit for peace of mind.

We have just returned from a week at the Argento Hotel and found it to be a really pleasant friendly small hotel. The staff are all very helpful, and the hotel fresh and clean. The hotel is located up a slight incline road, about 100metres or so from where the buses run so is ideally positioned for exploring the island by the cheap buses, as long as you don't mind being squashed in like sardines, with the big chance of not getting a seat. This can be a problem is you are less mobile.
The bedroom was large & airy with 2 King beds and a good sized bathroom, the balcony caught the sun pleasantly in the afternoon, but as others have mentioned, don't expect a view. The beds were very comfortable and there is plenty of storage space and a free safe. Free wifi in rooms too, excellent.
Plenty of choice for breakfast, the evening meals were good and no problems if you wanted a slight change, like the sauce left off the meat if it was something you were not keen on. The evening meals were extremely quiet customer wise, probably because there are lots of other options in the area and most people were on a bed & breakfast basis and not half board like us.
If and when we return to Malta I would definately use this hotel again.

It was our first ever trip to Malta, and won't be our last due to the friendliness and hospitality of the Maltese. We booked The Argento because of it's glowing trip advisor reviews, and were not disappointed. The staff are a credit to their hotel-helpful and courteous, and they appear to enjoy their job despite the long hours some of them put in.
A special shout out for the housekeeping staff as the place really is kept so spotlessly clean you could eat your food off the floor...if you so wished!
Would definitely recommend the location if you want to be somewhere central to exploring Malta, and being close to the action. We hired a car,but be warned it can be problematic and timeconsuming seeking an available space to squeeze into(but we always managed somehow.)
Our rooms were large, spacious and airy, and we slept like babies in extremely comfortable beds, followed by a hearty breakfast(All Hail to the omelette Kings behind the counter)to set us up for a day's exploring.
The only very minor quibbles we had were the views out the room balconies overlooked a kind of uncared-for- looking mish-mash of buildings(that we affectionately nicknamed Gaza Strip)-but the quality of the room made up for this.
Also we'd opted for evening meals(which were generally good and tasty,-the slow-cooked lamb in red wine was to die for)but found the dining-room lacked somewhat in soul, ambience and atmosphere in the later hours-but we're sure that can be worked upon. The charming staff made up for what was lacking anyway.
Many thanks too for the lovely card and the bottle of sparkling wine in a bucket of ice that was given to my sister and her hubby on their pearl anniversary- very much appreciated!
All in all a memorable holiday and we'll definitely return. The weather may have been coolish and inclement, but the warmth of the Maltese people is really what sticks with us.

We are a group of 7 friends from Ireland. We stayed in Hotel Argento for four nights in February 17 to 21st.. We would highly reccomend this lovely hotel. It is spotlessly clean . The bedrooms are large, bright and airy. The decor is very modern. The staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. They came out to greet us and help us in with our luggage. They booked boat trips, bustrips etc with pickup from the hotel. The breakfast is excellent. The chef makes pancakes and omlettes to order. The hotel is situated within 5 mins walk of excellent restaurants and the waterfront. You wont have seaview but you will get evrythingelse you would expect from a 4 star hotel. There is a bus stop at the end ofthe road. You can buy a day ticket onboard which will brng you to anyplace on the island for €1.50. Overall an excellent hotel and very good value.

Room Tip: The duvets are a little too hot but you will find blankets in the wardrobe for apleasant nights slee...
