We stayed at the Hilton Malta for three nights this past weekend, having booked two king rooms as a "Standard Points & Money Reward" for 25k points and €60 each.

We checked in very late (after 10PM) as our ferry from Sicily was delayed. We had made arrangements with the Hilton concierge to have a car meet us at the ferry terminal which was a wise decision - there were very few taxis at the port.

As HH Gold, both rooms were upgraded to the 10th floor in the new tower. Unfortunately, the beds were not true Kings, but rather two adjoining twins (with separate linens). As it was so late (and as both rooms had been upgraded) we didn't press the issue.

Breakfast in Oceania was expansive, although the service was terrible and the coffee was abysmal. The staff seems to want to seat you as close to the host desk as possible, so if you don't want to sit wedged between three families with toddlers you will have to ask. Additionally, it was impossible to flag down an attendant for drink refills.

Fortunately, the coffee machines in the Executive Lounge seem to have been repaired. There was one afternoon where the machine reported that it was "out of milk" but a quick knock on the door brought the attendant, who quickly solved the issue (and delivered my coffee).

We also received complimentary water in both rooms, as well as chits for wine. I thought this was a very nice touch, and it thrilled my in-laws (who have not traveled with us before) to no end.

Most of the outdoor amenities were closed for the winter, but the indoor pool was lovely. We also enjoyed the "Quarterdeck" bar, which had a great view over the marina.

We utilized the Hop On / Hop Off bus as it came directly to the hotel, and we had parents with us. This was actually a pretty effective way to see Malta, especially for those who don't want to do a lot of walking. You can save a tremendous amount of money by purchasing the "Malta Pass" online. Even if you only do a half-day on the bus and the temples at Hagar Qim - the bus tours are €15, and the temples €10, so the pass can be a great savings IF you purchase it at the discounted online price.

We also utilized some taxis, and can wholeheartedly endorse Paul Spagnol. He was in the queue in front of the Hilton, but I think it would be worth it to make advance arrangements and have a reserved driver for the weekend. His pricing was better than the other drivers we had, and his professionalism and education was beyond compare. I do have his card if anyone would like his contact information.

For early risers, there is a table with coffee and pastries set up by the Concierge desk. This coffee was actually substantially better than that in the restaurant, and the deserted lobby was actually a decent place to work in the morning. This would also be a convenient option if one wanted to leave early for sightseeing, although I don't understand why they have this in the lobby rather than in the Executive Lounge.

Overall, I felt like this was a great value for a Reward Redemption, and we were treated well as Golds. I would NOT have paid the posted rate for these rooms (€400), especially in the winter when many of the amenities were unavailable.

Room Tip: Rooms in the new tower are modern, but can be a hike from the elevators and lobby.

I may sound a bit biased reviewing this property again, but I need to give credit where credit is due. We stayed here for 3 nights over New Years and continue to be impressed by both the property, facilities, and most importantly, the staff! Keep it up Hilton Malta. You continue to set the example for hotels in Malta!

We stayed at the Malta Hilton as a family in two deluxe rooms for six nights over the New Year period, and attended one of the hotel's New Year Celebration Nights with a group of friends who were also on the island.

This is easily the best Hilton property I've stayed in anywhere in Europe. It is clearly well managed, it is kept very clean (including the rooms), the staff are first class and everything runs very efficiently.

Our rooms were both large and spacious, and both had excellent views out over the Mediterranean. Cleaning service was ultra efficient, and room service also worked very well. The indoor pool and leisure centre is an added bonus, but do be aware that kids have to bail out at 6 pm (which seems a touch early!), as is the spa.

Breakfast is one of the better ones we've encountered over the years, and our only dinner in the hotel was at the Blue Elephant Thai Restaurant.....a superb meal.

A fantastic location, too, close to the restaurants of St. Julians and the nightlife (should you want it) of Paceville, and within easy striking distance of anywhere else on the island.

Very hard to beat, I suspect, on Malta.

This hotel is perfect for a short break and I would definitely return here. Location was perfect, huge balcony overlooking marina. As good a breakfast (if not the best) as anywhere, with complimentary bucks fizz to start the day off. The hotel cocktail bar, along with the Blue Elephant Thai restaurant means if you want a lazy week-end you do not have to step outside the hotel. The other restaurants on the marina however are worth a visit, as well as the casino and panoramic bar next to the hotel. All in all, a classy hotel for a mini break. Excellently priced afternoon tea, but take the credit card for drinks by the pool!

Tip: The hop on bus tour with free boat trip is worth doing, as a visit to the old Medina was one of the week-end highlights.

Good service - almost all staff friendly and helpful
Got upgraded to sea view room :)
Free underground parking.
Very Spacious and clean rooms and the beds are really comfortable.
5 star building, lovely grounds.
Lovely indoor swimming pool and spa.
If you from the U.K all the sockets are standard 3 pin so no need to take an adapter.
Nice breakfasts - good selection to choose from.

Con's

4 star rooms decor and furniture wise - rooms need updating.
No free wifi.
No free mineral water in room.
Breakfast area can get crowded at certain times.
No beach - just a rocky area with lots of broken glass around - not good for kids if you
are looking for them to be out on a beach on holiday.
