We travelled as a couple with our three year old child. first time to Malta. We stayed at the hotel for easter and unfortunately the weather was not great, consequently using the pools was not always possible.
This hotel could be anywhere, basically a big international hotel with nothing unique to the country. Staff was friendly, but not five staf service. The conceirge was useful, but always lined up. Front desk were almost all new (I hope!!), so more training needed.
Rooms were very clean and a good size. We had an ocean view, but on a low floor, so really we had a view of a palm tree.
If you were coming for a pool/beach vacation and didn't care about the history etc of the country this might be perfect.
There are many resturants near by that are good, so eating out of the hotel is ideal. Breakfast in the hotel was good, but very busy. Getting to Valetta takes time, but can be done by taxi.
The hotel recommended the hop on hop off bus (which we normally like). The traffic is very slow in Malta...I would pick specific sites and travel by car!
The hotel could use a better play area for kids (perhaps there is one in the beach club which was closed).More
