Could be one of the best hotels I have stayed in, the staff from the General Manager to the maids were fantasic, food was to die for, and the omelette's for breakfast well he did show how to make them properly. (if you have stayed there you will know what I mean ) Such a friendly place for a large hotel, Can't wait to go back.

We stayed at the hilton last June for our Honeymoon and were very impressed with it.

Our room was spacious and the bed was very comfortable the view from our balcony was of Portamasso and was beautiful.

We sunbathed in one of the hotel's many pool areas most days and foud the poolside staff to be friendly at attentive. Snacks and drinks were pricey but they brought them to your lounger.

We were on a bed and breakfast rate, but we did eat in three of the hotel's four restaurant's. The Blue Elephant was the prettiest restaurant I have been in the only criticism being there wasn't a great deal of choice for people who don't like fish, but it was still lovely food. We tried bottega de vino in the middle of our stay and I had the best piece of steak I have ever tasted. We went to the gazebo on our last night and this was easily the best meal we had on the whole holiday there was a live band that night too which created a great atmosphere. We went to the quarterdeck bar most evenings it was expensive but worth it for the lovely atmospere and good service we loved thier after dinner cocktails. Breakfast offered a huge choice each morning you could have pretty much anything, except marmite which we ended up buying a pot ourselves and bringing down with us each morning!

We had massges in the spa one day also very good but we were so relaxed we ended up falling asleep in the quarterdeck bar that evening!

All in all an excellent hotel with extremely friendly and helpful staff. Malta is a beautiful island and this is perfect base to explore it from.

An absolutely wonderful hotel! I cannot find any reasons to fault it.

The friendly, efficient and very professional staff could not do enough to make our stay enjoyable.

The facilitlies offered by the hotel are excellent. There is something for the entire family.

The breakfast was fantastic, the food always plentiful and fresh. The egg station where eggs/ omelettes were cooked to order infront of your eyes was a particularly good.

We stayed in an executive suite so had access to the executive lounge which offered complimentary snacks such as cheese and biscuits and afternoon tea and cakes at different intervals through out the day which was a nice touch. There is also free soft drinks and beer available all day and free internet access in the lounge.

Our room was immaculately clean, tastefully decorated and very spacious. We were fortunate to have a lovely sea view from our balcony and were given a complementary bottle of wine on arrival.

If I return to Malta I would certainly stay in this hotel again.

We stayed for 6 nights over the New Year period. This is our second stay in this property. We were again very impressed overall. Prior to arrival the concierge Mario arranged our taxi from Luqa airport and also gave us a helpful list of the options for the New Years Eve celebrations. On arrival we received an excellent welcome both from the reception desk and the very helpful & courteous Angela from Guest Relations. We were upgraded due to my Hilton Platinum VIP card to a beautiful Suite on the 7th floor overlooking the sea. The room (as indeed the hotel in general) was beautifully appointed with nice furniture and artwork. The only drawback with this room and neighbouring rooms became apparent during our stay: there was a clear problem with the drains and the smell emanating from the guest toilet in our suite gradually spread to the lounge. However, it was clear that the staff were trying to deal with the problem which had clearly been going on for some time according to a long term guest. As the beautiful Executive Lounge was being upgraded, excellently managed alternative arrangements were made as detailed by some of the guests on Trip Advisor. Once again we very much enjoyed the Blue Elephant Thai Restaurant and the Botega Del Vino Restaurant. The food and service in both establishments was second to none though now we had to be more careful with our choice of main course due to the depreciation of the Pound Sterling making courses in excess of €25 seem rather expensive. We also used room service to use the excellent dining opportunities offered by our lovely room. The service was prompt and polite. We also received several nice ‘complimentary amenities’ in our room every other day such as chocolates, panetone, fruit and wine which was very much appreciated. Breakfast in the Oceana restaurant was also of very high quality. The chef producing the omelettes was not only very competent at his job but also offered great friendly advice on what to do and see around Malta. He also remembered to ask me the following day whether we had followed his recommendations. His helpful attitude was typical of all the staff encountered during our stay. In spite of the struggle with the smell in the guest toilet, the room housekeeping was of a very high standard too. I would strongly recommend this hotel again.

Arrived 23rd December and had been upgraded from a De Luxe room to a De Luxe Plus Room. Lovely view of the sea, but having stayed during August Executive in another 5 star hotel in Malta, was a bit disappointed. The Hotel itself is really beautiful with lots of space to sit and relax whether inside or outside by one of the pools.
Decided to ask about an upgrade and was offered one for 40 euros a night in a Relaxation Suite with Executive Lounge facilities. This was amazing as the Relaxation Suite was 600 euros a night ! It was fantastic - lots of space in the living area, and you could sit in the freestanding bath and gaze out to sea through the patio doors from the bathroom. Lots of other luxuries were in the room and my husband was delighted that lots of English football was on TV
The Executive Lounge was being refurbished, so we took afternoon tea (scrumptious sandwiches, scones and gateaux) in the Vista Lounge but this was changed to another venue due to there being more Executive members than the lounge could cope with.
From 6.00 - 8.30 we had alcoholic drinks of our choice in the Quarterdeck Bar, with canapes, nuts and nibbles which were replenished throughout the evening. The Bar staff (particularly Jesmond) could not do enough for us and were surely the most attentive we have ever come across.
The breakfasts were incredible - everything you could possibly want and a special Chef cooking eggs however you wanted them. I tried Eggs Benedict for the first time !
I cannot say enough how friendly the whole of the staff were, whether it be a cleaner, waitress, receptionist etc - nobody could walk by without acknowledging us and once they knew our name, that gave it the special touch.
I do think upgrading made this holiday extra special, so please think about asking if you would like the additional priviledges. It paid off several times over.
Overall, The Hilton Malta is probably one of, if not, the best I have ever visited and will return in the future. Please try it - I know you will not be disappointed.

We stayed at the Hilton over New Year for a one week period. It is the ideal place to stay for a truly relaxing experience at a time of year when one is not guaranteed sunshine. Even with cloudy weather, this hotel will bring sunshine to your day! The staff are so friendly and most helpful at all times, during our entire stay we experienced a very warm response from all staff to our most minor requests. We stayed in an executive plus room in the new section of the building, a beautiful room with all modern amenities, a spacious and luxurious bathroom as well as a lovely sea view with furnished balcony. Lovely Crabtree and Evelyn toiletries, robes and slippers were provided and enhanced the atmosphere of relaxation.

Breakfast is an experience in itself at the Hilton. There is an extensive buffet choice for every taste ranging from the low-fat option through to those requiring a hearty high-energy breakfast. In addition to all buffet choices, there is a chef on site to cook up your most daring breakfast request - from porridge to pancakes, french toast to fried eggs, it's made for you in minutes! The breakfast wait staff attend to your every need and provide for any special requests with a smile.

We checked out the Quarter Deck Lounge bar, again very attentive service and nice snacks (olives, chips etc.) to accompany drinks - in comparison to other bars in Malta, drinks are expensive but you are paying for service and surroundings so enjoy. We think the bar is best for a lazy afternoon tipple rather than a night time venue - pretty quiet at night and not a whole lot of atmosphere.

We used the indoor pool and gym as well as some of the classes. All are very good and the pool never appeared that busy. Steam room and sauna and dressing rooms could do with being updated but it's a relatively minor criticism and one appreciates it is hard to have all things perfect at all times. The onsite spa is adjacent to the pool area and the one treatment (facial)experienced was really excellent and good value given the current offers at the hotel for January 2009. The therapist Nicky was very professional and delivered a truly relaxing and thorough treatment.

Don't leave the Hilton without trying the Blue Elephant restaurant for the best Thai food - service, food, wine is fab and the best we've ever experienced. The sommelier is really knowledgeable and unpretentious and very helpful given the length of the wine menu. The overall evening was a culinary delight and ends with a beautiful orchid to accompany the final bill.

Outside of the hotel we would recommend Lulu restaurant (2 min from Hilton) for excellent quality contemporary food and a romantic meal or special family/group night out. Paparazzi (less than 5 min) is ideal for no nonsense steak, salmon, burgers - very good and very reasonable. We liked Biancos especially for their platters and pastas. Portomaso cafe is just by the Hilton and very good for coffee, cakes, snacks etc. The Definitely Good Food Guidebook in the hotel is very useful and any choices we made from this book were very reliable. Il Rokna restaurant is recommended, it has the oldest and allegedly the best pizzeria in Malta, we would endorse it as the best - really really good pizza.

Overall, if you want a relaxing and luxurious break with the attention of professional hotel staff then the Hilton is strongly recommended. It stands as a model of what a 5 star hotel should be - well done!

My wife and I stayed for nine nights over Christmas 2008. This was our third time at the hotel and its good reputation continues to be deserved, Staff are genuinely concerned to get everything right - their job depends on it after all.

Food was excellant although the drop of over 20 per cent in value of the UK pound against the euro was a shock - Malta is no longer a cheap destination. Cheaper meals can be found at local restaurants which the Maltese use such as Ir Rokna.

We were in room 942 on the Executive floor. Executive rooms appear to have carpets as opposed to the ordinary deluxe rooms which have tile floors. Otherwise there is little difference.

The TV was an old 4:3 cathode ray model which was overdue for replacement but I understand that new rooms added last year have 16:9 flat screen TVs,

For people with walking disabilities such as myself the hotel is largely accessible. An exception is the plush Quarterdeck bar which can only be reached by stairs (totally inaccessible for wheelchair users). The hotel is part of the Portomaso development which has new pavements or lifts throughout - though some of the restaurants in the adjoining Marina are only reached by stairs. The main lift down to the Marina was out of order all through our stay but there is an alternative lift through the underground car park. Once out of the complex you are at the mercy of Malta's potholed roads and uneven pavements.
