We stayed at the Hilton, it was really great. Vonderbar breakfast with ham, cheese and egg of alsorts. The sun shon and the sky was blue and a very pleasant stay was had. The restaurants 'Raphael' and 'Bianco' come well recommended and were excellent quality and value.
Bye.....Boom!

We stayed for a week and generally had a good time. We had chosen to stay in one of their executive rooms, although more expensive than the standard rooms , because of the benefits of the Executive club.

The facilities in the room were good but the room itself was a bit tired and needs a face lift e.g carpet well past its best sell by date, dodgy lock on door to balcony, very hard bed.

Bathroom , however , very nice and clean, liked the lighting system which ensures the lights brighten slowly so if you get up in the middle of the night you are not blinded when you go in. Wife really liked the shower . Crabtree and Evelyn products supplied . Toilet made loud noise as it refilled. Housekeeping good and staff polite, cheerful and efficient. However not sure purpose of sign " Please make up room " was as it seemed to have no effect on time room was made up.

Balcony good view over pool area and sea ( Also excellent to watch thunderstorm from on last night )

We like Executive lounges , this one was very pleasant , well furnished. The advantage of the lounge is you get a breakfast buffet , tea in the afternoon , free drinks and canapes in the evening. But also you have the benefit of a quiet place to go to in the day away from the hustle and bustle of the main hotel with newspapers and magazines ( also TV and computer ) with soft drinks, hot beverages and beer available. Finally if like us you had to check out at noon but didnt to leave till 3 p.m for airport it was somewhere to go rather than hotel lobby.

Wife had excellent pedicure in the beauty salon

Pool area - two main pools - one primarily for adults as it almost immediately goes to a depth of 6ft and one much larger for everyone. Mercanti club was closed. Aqua bar provides drink and snack service ( staff could be somewhat more cheerful.) Jacuzzi erratic in operation. Towel service ,good chap cheerful and helpful. Plenty of sun loungers. Also toddlers pool.

Lobby bar/snack service pleasant area ,again staff could be a bit more cheerful.

Main restaurant clean, staff good and cheerful , buffet selection a bit boring. Also ate in Blue Elephant Thai restaurant ( separate review ) but good with positive staff.

Concierge service good.

Reception staff definitely could lighten up a bit and smile.

Have to get use to lifts as not all lifts go to pool area.

Hotel well placed to walk into St Juliens and go to one of the restaurants/cafes or down to the harbour. Next to upmarket shopping centre at base of Malta's tallest building

We arrived in the small hours and I handed over my credit card in the usual way, only to discover later that they tried there and then to debit me for the room rentals we'd already paid for in advance, plus their very optimistic estimate of what we'd be likely to use during our stay from the room minibars. Sensing there might be something amiss, the credit card company blocked the card, so I had to use another credit card for the remainder of my stay. Because of this I got 50% fewer airmiles than I would have been able to earn than if I was using the card Hilton caused to be blocked. Would they answer any of these complaints? Eventually - as if to add insult to injury - they offered me a free night with them at some future date. Oh joy.
A real round the houses to find anyone at the hotel - or the Hilton organisation at the next level up - to complain to; instead, a series of junior administrators in the US whioeach time I got through to one he or she wanted me to fill in a tedious form, and requested this over and over. They wear you down. And the hotel gave (and still gives) no advice to guests as to whether the water in the rooms (bathrooms) is fit to drink, yet prevent you taking away after breakfast even opened bottles of water supplied. So cheapskate. And a great pity because the staff seemed all very nice, the buffet breakfasts all terrific. Shame that the hotel's policy in the areas I complained about (including their [non] way of handling complaints) is so lamentably and inexcusably wanting.

WOW Malta was all about the wonderful lovely PEOPLE !! They can't do enough to make you feel welcome in their country !!! The Hilton was just perfect and delightful, we were traveling as a couple + 2 teens. It is just ideally situated ... quiet yet steps away from all kinds of night life if you want, shops. The rooms and the facilities are PERFECT. We cannot wait to go back ... and we WILL. Please book there, you will be so well cared for & happy !! Oh and the extensive brunches are to KILL for :) And ALL of the restaurants on the little Portomaso port next to our hotel were just excellent ~ we tried them all except the sushi bar!

I have stayed at the Hilton in Malta twice no, once many 8 years ago, and the second time recently when my sister go married and had her wedding reception there.

The hotel is a modern luxury hotel. The staff were always very helpful and the service throughout the hotel was excellent. Our room was on the ground floor with a view over Porto Maso Marina, which was very nice. The room was spacious and clean with nice decor and a large blacony/terrace. Some people may prefer the sea view, but the marina view was very nice for looking at the boats.

Breakfast at the hotel was lovely, there is a huge selection of different foods on offer, with the option to sit inside or outside by the pool.

The pool area outside is great and overlooks the sea, with 1 larger pool and 1 smaller pool (more for swimming lengths). There are loads of sunloungers all around the pool side, and a pool side cafe serving drinks and snacks. The hotel also has a fantastic gym and indoor pool and spa. The gym has a spinning studio aswell as all other major pieces of equipment. The beauty spa looks very nice, but i didn't have any treatments as they are very expensive. There is also a Toni & Guy hairdressers next to the Spa.

The location of the hotel is excellent, it is a short 5 - 10 minute walk to local shops and restaurants.

We have just returned from a 6 night stay at the Hilton Malta. We don't make a habit of writing reviews on TripAdvisor but we're making an exception this time - we loved this hotel. We have stayed in some very good hotels (Fairmont Miramar, Santa Monica; Bellagio, Las Vegas) and for us, the Hilton Malta is up there with the best of them.

We would highly recommend you upgrade to an Executive Room which will give you access to the Executive Lounge on the 9th floor. I'm cautious about upgrades (sometimes not worth the money) but it is definitely worth it here.

First of all, you get a far superior room - beautiful modern decor; Crabtree and Eveleyn bathroom products; very spacious; huge comfy bed; lovely view of the marina/sea. However, the Executive Lounge will quickly become an extension to your room.

You can have breakfast in the Executive Lounge if Oceana (the breakfast restaurant) is busy. You help yourself to unlimited free tea, coffee, bottled water, soft drinks, lager (Heineken, Becks and the local lager Cisk) and snacks (crisps and nuts) all day until the Lounge closes at 8pm. At 3pm you help yourself to afternoon tea (sandwiches, beautiful cakes, scones etc) and at 6pm a full bar is brought out, together with pre-dinner snacks (olives, cheeses etc). Excellent value for money, and members of staff are available at all times if you have any queries. If you want/need to, the Lounge is a quiet place to work. There is also a computer in the Lounge ready for you to use (we used it to check-in for our return flight and get the football scores!).

The pools are great. There are 7 outside and 1 indoor heated pool (although we understand that some of the pools close for the Winter months at the end of September). There is no shortage of sunbeds and parasols. We went down to the Merkanti Beach Club each day. It has good facilities, a bar and restaurant area, two pools and access to the jetty into the sea. There are also watersports facilities (my Husband hired a jet ski) and watertaxis/daily boat trips to Valletta, Sliema, Gozo, Comino and the Blue Lagoon (payable locally). We took a return watertaxi from the hotel to Valletta. It was well worth the 40 euros we paid, if only for the 'door to door' convenience (although you could do it much more cost effectively by taxi or by taking the bus to Sliema and getting the Sliema-Valletta ferry).

There are pools which are, strictly speaking, meant to be for adults only which children staying at the hotel also used. We had no issues with that whatsoever - in fact it makes our holiday watching the children having fun and enjoying themselves. Nobody else appeared to have any issues with it either. However, some previous reviewers obviously found this problematic.

Some previous reviewers also had a problem with the hotel prices. We would, to some extent, agree (hence the 4 rating for value). However, in our view, you have to expect that you will pay more for food/drinks in any hotel - not just this one. We ordered a bottle of water and a diet coke from the pool bar (6 euros - not bad). We also ate at the seafood buffet at Oceana one evening (37 euros per person - worth the money given the choice on offer). However, we ate at Oceana the following evening and it wasn't as good value at 33 euros per person with much less choice. We didn't eat at the Blue Elephant this time - but we will next time on the basis that it has received some excellent reviews.

All of the staff at the Hilton are extremely friendly and helpful. They are polite, and can't do enough to help you.

We only had one issue. There was a large conference during our stay and the delegates took over the hotel. On two occasions they had exclusive access to certain parts of the hotel. As full paying customers, we were particularly cross with that.

Unlike previous reviewers, we found some lovely eating places in the areas surrounding the hotel. Hilton Malta is sat in the middle of two separate bays, St.Georges to the north, and Spinola Bay to the south. There are A LOT of Italian restaurants, but also some very good Maltese restaurants. Gozitan in Paceville, for example, serves beautiful fresh fish. Chapter One, also in Paceville, has a Michelin trained head chef. We didn't find eating out in Malta particularly expensive. The truth is, like anywhere, you can make it as cheap or expensive as you like.

Finally, to Malta itself. We disagree that it is stuck in a 60s timewarp. The area around the Hilton is very modern and mostly recently developed. Yes the buses are old, but that only adds to the character of the place. There's a lot of history - a trip to Valletta is a must even if you don't want to explore the rest of the island.

All in all, we would highly recommend the Hilton, and Malta itself.
