“Not just for business...”
Reviewed 5 March 2011

Stayed at the Hilton Malta for five nights. Although I realise that the hotel is very popular to business travellers (especially at this time of the year), I thought it is great for any type of traveller. The Location is fantastic, right in the centre of St. Julians but quiet enough to get a good night sleep. If you want to experience the loud night life of Malta you can visit PachoVilla area, which is only five minutes away. Dont forget to go for a drink at the night club at the top of the tower, next to the hotel. The Hotel rooms are huge in comparison to other standard rooms. They are very clean and offer all standard amenities. The views are magnificent (both Marina or Ocean). The cleanliness was ok (thought that the pool could be a bit better) - but overall excellent. The restaurants were of a fantastic quality (especially the seafood night in the main one) as well as the awarded Blue Elephant (go for the Royal Thai banquet menu and ask for Karl the waiter). The SPA is also great offering a variety of treatments - I had a treatment with Pierra, which I found fantastic. The concierge is very helpful and can give you all the info you need for Malta. I highly recommend this hotel - to all types of travellers.

We arrived at 1.30am after a delayed flight and were welcomed back (it was two years since we had stayed) We were upgraded to an executive room - the contemporary, which had to have the largest bathroom I have ever seen in an hotel.
We intended to go straight to bed but when we saw the plate ofl chocolates we opened a bottle of duty free champagne and sat on the balcony, drinking the champagne and eating the chocolates. Lovely start to the holiday.

The hotel is modern and luxurious. But the staff are truly the stars of the hotel and have all been taught the six foot rule (no member of staff you meet passes you with a greating)
The Hilton is part of the Portamosa complex with a marina and restaurants.

It is also in the centre of two difference Malta experiences. The fun of Paceville and the setting of the harbour and the restaurants.
,
The Exec lounge served the most exquisite afternoon tea - cakes, scones and early eavening drinks with hot & cold canapes. The staff again brilliant.

Hilton always serve good breakfasts but at the Malta Hilton it was exceptional.
The Beach club was closed but the main pool was open. (This is surrounded by olive trees which the staff were picking to make into olive oil for use of the hotel) Weather was good -mornings by the pool, leisurely drink at the pool bar and then a walk and perhaps a shared bottle of wine at one of the harbour restaurants - ok for a drink but not impressed with the food or service.

The Mediterranean restaurant in the complex is excellent and so is tthe Pizza Bianca by the harbour. We ate at the Blue Elephant at the Hilton but was not as good as two years ago. This restaurant is better when you can eat outside.

Excellent bar - seat outside and watch the world go by.

We arrived for a short weekend trip to be told our room was not ready. It was nice to be upgraded to a junior suite but nothing more than the norm for me as a Gold HHonors member. We were then informed that the Executive Lounge was not offering any of its usual facilities for the weekend and we would have to go elsewhere within the hotel to receive the extras we had paid for. The hotel should have informed guests of this beforehand, not on arrival from the UK when it is rather too late to make alternative arrangements. As suspected the alternatives were busy and poor quality - not what we had expected when we booked for an Executive room and usual benefits.
Poor service was typified by our room not being made up by mid afternoon and the scrum that is laughing known as breakfast.
Save your money and go elsewhere - this Hilton does not deserve your business. We won't be returning thats for sure.

We arrived at the Hilton midday check in was not until 2pm we had booked three rooms. Two of the rooms were ready our friends had booked a delux plus room with a seaview which looked amazing the view was wonderful. Our room was on the 9th floor we had been upgraded to an executive room what a fantastic room. Our daughter had to wait 1hr for her room when we went back to reception to check if the room was really the people who had been staying in the room had decided to stay longer. Our daughter was upgraded to a corner suite on the 9th floor well worth the wait. There was a seperate lounge area with tv doors that opened up to reveal a luxury bedroom with super king size bed and another tv. The bathroom was so big large bath, double shower and two sinks. She was made to feel like a queen. Everyone at the hotel could not do enough for you. Both the restaurants were amazing the food was so good and service was out standing. This hotel should be rated as a 7 stars it is just wonderful. I would like to thank everyone working at the Hilton our holiday was amazing from start to finish.

We have just returned from our 4 day holiday at Malta Hilton. The service and hotel personel are exceptional and very willing to assist. Our double deluxe room upgrade was big with sea view and LCD tv. A couple of small problems with our room were immediately taken care of. The only problem with our room and bathroom was the overall ventilation of the room which was not at all good. We have noticed the same ventilation problem with the Oceania restaurant where breakfast was being served having as an effect almost the whole hotel and especially the reception above it to smell fried eggs. Also wifi internet is very expensive (20 Euros per day) and it has to be free like Radisson and other hotels in Malta.

Apart from breakfast and the Spa we have not used the other restaurants, bars etc because these were hilgly priced in all respects. The mini bar items are highly priced too, a small botle of water is priced at around 4 Euro. There are some very good restaurants around the corner where you can eat exceptional food at decent prices and the cafeteria just outside the hotel is the meeting place of most of the hotel residents where they can enjoy their coffee, sandwiches, ice cream etc. at very reasonable prices.

Apart from the above I believe that Malta Hilton is one of the best of the island and in the best location very close to everything and I would definitely recommend it. Signed Couple from Cyprus.

We stayed here for a week in January , the hotel is lovely bright and spacious, we were on a b& b basis and the breakfast was well worth it with great choice of very fresh food. We had booked a room to have access to the executive lounge, but upon arrival we were told the afternoon coffee and canape and drinks would be serviced in the bars, we were told by the staff at check in that we could still use the lounge so on day 2 when we went down it was closed off for renovations and stayed closed for the week therefore we felt we wasted our money booking it as having children we were not allowed into the business lounge. Anyways that aside the blue elephant is well worth a visit and the even gave us food to feed the fish its an amazing interior, and the fish night buffet in the oceana is an amazing display of food there was such choice and we found it to be an very enjoyable evening. The indoor pool is lovely and was nice and quiet while we were there, the concierge was very helpful, we booked a sightseeing open top bus tour with malta sightseeing and it was excellent except it included a free harbour cruise which you could use another day , so off we set to go on the cruise , well the boat was terrible it was so bad and i felt so unsafe on it with our children, i was terrified so we disembarked after about ten minutes sitting on it waiting for it to depart. It was called lantini so be warned the bus tour is cheap and worth it but stay clear of the boat. We used low cost transfer to get from the airport and they were excellent. Overall excellent holiday but this is a fancy hotel with excellent staff that can not do enough for you. We used the spa on two days and I felt the reception staff of the spa to be a bit stuck up and felt the were nearly looking down on me when I asked the cost of a treatment and when I asked what the difference was in two treatments I was given the brochure no explanation. That aside the therapists are excellent. well worth a visit.

From the moment we arrived we loved this hotel. We arrived very early in the morning, and were given the choice of checking into an available room or waiting for our room to become available (we took the advice of the staff and waited... and were glad we did). We were given a welcome drink and told when the room would be available. The room was excellent, on a high level with a great view, very large with great amenities. The hotel was really relaxing, a great pool area (plus a great indoor pool), and fantastic breakfast. We also ate at the Thai restaurant in the hotel and loved it - though there are also lots of other restaurants in easy walking distance. Although we loved touring Malta, we also loved returning to the hotel each night. We would definitely stay here again, and would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Malta.!!
