“Luxury hotel, great location, attentive staff”
Reviewed 29 July 2014 via mobile

My husband and I stayed here in July with his work in Malta as a wedding photographer. We stayed in an executive room (827) which is well worth the extra spend. The balcony felt private and yet still with great views. First place we've stayed where executive breakfast includes the option of dining downstairs which we utilised on some of the days. Highly recommend Quadro Restaurant. Beautiful seafood and great wine list. Palio's Restaurant was fantastic for tapas/light meals and drinks. George at concierge was extremely helpful with assisting us find an all day charter. The front desk team were also always willing to help. We witnessed the general manager on the floor on more than one occasion being attentive to guest needs. In fact there was a medical emergency on one day which was very well handled by the staff. You are certainly in safe hands if you stay at this hotel. This is the first time we have seen such a large scale hotel with such a personal touch. They even noted it was my birthday and went to great lengths to make me feel very special. We came as a couple but would bring our children back. If you want a luxury scale hotel with first class service in a great location, book the Westin Dragonara

A lovely 5 star hotel with everything at your fingertips. Great rooms, friendly staff and excellent gym with indoor pool. A great selection of food at breakfast and the only criticism would be the lack of Internet connectivity. 65 euros for 5 days is extremely steep! You can login to the free Internet in the lobby but as that is what everyone else is doing you can't get a seat in the lobby! After an hour you have to forget the network and log back in what a pain! Paceville is quite close and very trendy for the youngsters and Spigola Bay is about a 10 min walk where there are excellent views and restaurants.

For my second time, traveling alone with my little daughter, this hotel made a fantastic week for us, once again. It was so nice to be welcoming back by the staff. The service is excellent and everyone at the hotel are so sweet and friendly. I'm visiting Malta for both work and pleasure, and I will always stay at this resort, also in future.

There are so many things to say positive about this hotel. The people, the food, the cleanliness and the atmosphere.. I really feel relaxed!
The relaxing atmosphere by the pool in hotel-area, that is not crowded, not noisy - are just perfect. (There is another pool in the area for families where older children can play.... More noisy...) A little baby pool for the little ones - also perfect.

The breakfast, I say no more…. Eggs on demand- perfect. Fresh juice and superfood available. Could sit there for hours drinking my coffee, eat healthy food and let the day begin..

The rooms are so clean and spacious - and the balcony, overlooking the sea, is therapy.

The location is very good, busses nearby to Valetta, and a nice area for walking/exercise.

I just love this hotel, and all the people behind it :) Thanks to Stephanie, George, Nicklas, and all of you at the Dragonara! See you next july! Siri

Our fifth year staying at the best hotel in Malta. The kids love it, my wife loves it and this year we brought my father in law and his wife (my spare mother in law!) along and they loved it. After settling in for a few days, they told us this: We've heard all your stories about how brilliant and relaxing this hotel is and now we've been here, we see exactly why you keep coming back. The ambience around the main pool is sublime. The pool area is kept spotless and the pool side staff are there for you, efficient, friendly and very polite. We will be back next July and so will the father in law and his wife. They particularly loved our Tower Room balcony and used to come and relax with us in the evening watch the views and shimmering lights of St Julian's Bay as the sun went down.

Room Tip: South side rooms facing St Julians - for the best sun rises ever!

Almost a year ago stayed with friends at this wonderful hotel. Wonderful not because it didn't have issues, but rather because the people were without exception exceptional!! I felt like I had personal concierge and butler service. Everyone single employee cared and showed it in so many ways. Whether housekeeping, front desk, the Manager every day in every way they showed genuine attentiveness. And the views are spectacular!!!

Room Tip: a room with a view

Just returned from the 1 week at the Westin Dragonara in St Julian's in Malta.

The overall experience was great. We had a great week and we absolutely loved the island. The hotel was very busy, which kind
of affected the score, but I am going to explain my 4 star review later. Let's just focus on the positives first.

Pluses +++
- Beautiful location. Ssmall private beach, 2 swimming pools and plenty of sun beds around.
- Good location - very close to the shops and other restaurants.
- Beautiful rooms and foyer. The Westin Dragonara looks very elegant and it does look like a 5* hotel.
- Very friendly staff. You will definitely see some friendly faces welcoming you.
- Delicious food. We had some tapas every day. The food provided in the hotel was amazing.
- Variety of food. We always had a breakfast in the hotel, which was delicious. Buffett was massive. They literally have
everything. They even advertise the healthy options.
- Gym. It was very big but not very busy. Some machines are quite old but it doesn't affect your work out. The size is quite
impressive for the hotel gym. I would join it, if I lived there.

Minuses ---
- The hotel was very busy. Yes, we can't blame them for that, but it does affect the hotel's logistics. It just seems sometimes that the hotel bites off more than it can chew. For example it happened a few times that they run out of the towels, so if you wanted to hit the swimming pool around 10 am, you were unfortunately forced to sit on the boiling hot sunbeds. Just please be aware of that unless you don't mind tanning without them or get them before the big crowd hits the pool.
- The breakfast in the morning looked quite understaffed. They are great with finding you a place to sit, but after asking for a hot drink, they simply forgot about us. It happened 3 times that the waiter asked us for a drink and they simply didn't deliver it.
- The hotel is full of families with kids. Nothing wrong with that, however please be aware of that before you plan your stay there if you mind that. It does affect the situation in the swimming pool, which is completely dominated by kids.

The overall experience is really good. We already decided to come back next year. Beside those small minuses I was very happy that we decide to stay in the Westin Dragonara. You will love it!

Great hotel in a fantastic location in Malta. Local area has a variety of nice restaurants specialising in different cuisines. Easy access to local buses that travel to Sliema, Valetta etc. just a 5 minute walk away.

Hotel had great facilities. The Gym was kept to a high standard and had good equipment. Tennis courts were OK for hotel courts. Lobby area lovely and the Pianist was extremely good.

Lots of great activities put on by the very friendly animators including table tennis, water polo, football and basketball. Special mention to 'Tino' and 'Naomi' who were fantastic!
