Best times to visit, late May/early June or late September/early October, go later in the year if you want warmer sea temperatures. High season, Malta temperatures can be brutal at +40 deg C. Plenty to see and do, Malta is all about tourism. Hotel concierge was extremely helpful in organising trips and excursions. Hotel staff always helpful, polite and courteous. Food excellent. Service excellent. Facilities pool, gym, spa etc. excellent. If you are looking for beach facilities you may be disappointed but the Lido is a nice facility.

Room Tip: If you are looking for a quiet room with sea and sunset views ask for a room on Northwest Side.

We recently stayed at this hotel. The hotel was very nice. However the noise from the corinthian hotel next door was terrible. The noise was so bad 4 out of 7 nights we did not get any sleep. We did complain to the hotel but the noise was still intense. It really spoiled out holiday. We asked for a quiet room but we feel we got one of the worst rooms for noise. We had a room above The grand ballroom and the noise from that was not good either. With the loading and the unloading of various scaffolding disco equiptment and furniture. This started from about 5am. So the only sleep we got was between 3am and 5/6am. Not a lot of sleep only 2 to 3 hrs at best.

Room Tip: Get a room far away from The Corinthian Hotel and The Grand Ballroom

This Radisson Blu Hotel is actually situated in St George's Bay, a quiet area about 10 minutes walk from the bustle of St Julian's. From many areas of the Hotel, there are beautiful, panoramic views over the sea. The bedroom and bathroom are a good size, although we prefer a walk-in shower. As expected, most of the promised 'sea view(s) from every room, are side views - but still pleasant. I enjoyed sitting out on the balcony, but was surprised that the light could not be turned off by the guest, meaning that you are 'in the spotlight' at night - and an attraction for insects! The staff are the Hotel's biggest asset - usually doing their best, promptly, when requests are made.
As has been commented, the Hotel is desperately in need of a refurb - which will commence towards the end of this year. The four lifts are unreliable, not all of them are working and often do not show the actual floor at which you have stopped. There are several pool areas, which usually are very busy, supplied with (old) loungers and sun umbrellas. Remember to take your pool towels from your room, as there are none at the pool? Although there are notices about not reserving loungers, and that towels will be removed if the guest is not there, I am not aware of there being any staff on duty in the pool area; there certainly was no lifeguard, which I consider a big safety issue. I also had issue with the lack of maintenance & general cleanliness around the pool areas.
My Husband used the gym and was quite happy with the equipment offered - although, again, take a towel from your room, as there are none in the gym.

We were irritated that notices detailing this kind of information are not displayed in the rooms or around the public areas of the Hotel. Similarly, we showed our Club Carlsson membership card at Reception on arrival, but were not advised to show it when purchasing food or drinks, in order to claim the 10% discount.

We ate in the Bridge Bar on the afternoon we arrived, but the food was of a dreadful quality and so we did not go back - which is a pity, as there are great views from the outside terrace. The breakfast in Kontiki Restaurant is a typical buffet, with lots of choices, but no variety from day to day. However, the Staff are helpful and always have a smile and a happy, 'Good Morning'. On one occasion, near the end of the breakfast time of 10:30, the bacon was finished and the chef went to the kitchen and brought out a few slices which he fried at the buffet, just for me: a very nice touch!

Near the Hotel is a bus stop from where you can get a bus into St Julian's, Sliema, Valletta or even Mdina - and all places between. At €1.50 per day, or €6:50 per week, with the opportunity to get on and off as desired, this is great value.

We had a number of issues with our allocated room and efforts were made to resolve these. My most important piece of advice is to ask for a room on a high floor, on the side away from the neighbouring hotel and not overlooking the main pool. On four of the seven nights we stayed, there were functions on at the neighbouring hotel and/or the Radisson Blu. The noise / music was incredibly loud - and the earliest time it stopped was after midnight, and on one occasion continued till after 1am. This is just unacceptable for the guests who are trying to sleep and action should be initiated to form an agreement about the maximum allowable decibels. I believe the Hotel Duty Manager was inundated with complaints over the first weekend of our stay. We complained, in writing, about the noise and the GM sent a bottle of wine to our Room, as a gesture of apology.
When the Hotel has been refurbed, and if something is done about the noise from functions, this would be a lovely base from which to explore Malta. As it is, this is definitely not a 5* hotel and is not comparable with other 5* hotels eg the Hilton or Dragonara, even if Malta Tourism are using their own rating system and not world ratings.

Room Tip: A high room away from the neighbouring hotel and not overlooking the pools, as this is where functio...

We stayed for a weekend break with 2 young kids. It was nice, we didn't leave the hotel for our whole stay. The room was nice and spacious and all very clean. Breakfast was good and we also had dinner there too. Will definately stay again.

When we entered our room the first thing that took our breath away was the view from our balcony window. To say it is spectacular is an understatement. The room was spotless and well air conditioned with all the amenities that you would expect for the price we paid. Staff were well trained and very polite. All in all a great stay.

We chose the Radisson as our base for our first visit to Malta and couldn't have been any happier with our decision.

Dealing with the hotel itself first. The hotel is actually set in St George's Bay, about 10/15 minutes walk into St Julian's. It is much quieter and less densely populated than St Julian's which we appreciated having a young family.

It is a modern hotel - spacious lobby, three bars and two restaurants, lots of space to relax in away from your room. The family room we had was well proportioned and well furnished - there was no issue with being packed in like sardines. Bedding and towels were changed daily if desired.

The pool by the hotel was reasonably busy, and I suspect at the height of summer this can get a little cramped as it's not the biggest. The swim to pool bar is always "cool", and was manned at most times.

We decided, however, to base ourselves over at the lido, a very short walk from the main hotel but still within its grounds. With three pools, one being a good sized children's pool, finding beds together and relaxing in quieter surroundings was the order of the day. The restaurant bar was very good, and the staff in that part of the complex very friendly.

We stayed half board and the food throughout our stay was both varied and of the highest quality. A live cooking station meant you could have anything cooked fresh from meat to pasta - and breakfasts were as good as we have had anywhere.

My wife had a couple of treatments at the spa attached to the hotel which she said were very relaxing and good value for money.

The main selling point of this trip, however, was the friendliness of the staff and the quality of service we received throughout. All the staff generally were polite, gave you a smile, and wanted to make your stay as relaxing as possible. They were without exception very good with the children - they were patient on those odd occasions when giddiness takes over, and went out of their way to speak to them at all times.

But when staff go that step further, I think it reflects well and makes a holiday. As a couple of examples, on arrival in the early hours of the morning due to flight delays, the staff simply gave us our key cards, during which time they took our luggage to our room, and told us to sign in properly sometime later in the day. We also had an issue with our child's buggy, and they went out of their way to source one from a local hotel and provided us with it for the week free of charge.

Small things I appreciate, but I would argue they were beyond the call of duty and done with genuine sincerity.

I believe the hotel is closing at the end of the season to have an extension built, a bit of a refurbishment and the main pool made bigger. I am sure it will make the hotel even better, and hope they retain the excellent staff that makes this hotel very memorable.

I would return to this hotel without hesitation and would recommend it to anyone seeking a family holiday in a quieter location not far from the hustle and bustle of St Julian's centre.

We stayed at this hotel between 24th-30th May 2014 for my sister's wedding. I had read some poor reports on here before we travelled and was aware of the upcoming refurbishment, so was slightly anxious.
It turns out that I had nothing to worry about! A large party of us arrived at the hotel late at night and were greeted very politely and dealt with quickly and efficiently. We had a young man on reception who informed us that it was his first day, he was very friendly and professional.

We found all of the staff to be very warm and friendly. Our cleaner was lovely and made an effort to speak to our little girl each day. She even went out of her way to find a safety pin for my husbands button hole on the wedding day. Our daughter was unable to sleep one night as she was afraid of the shadows being created by the outside balcony light. My husband rang reception to ask if our light could be turned off but was informed that all lights are automatically turned off at midnight. However someone quickly rang back to say that they would make an exception and turn all lights off early for one night so that she could settle. We were extremely grateful and amazed at the lengths that the staff go to in order to make guests comfortable and happy.

We thoroughly enjoyed the super breakfast each morning, extensive choice and plenty of seating available. One of the gentlemen working on the breakfast buffet gave me a full carton of fresh milk as I had none for the baby's bottle which was very helpful.

The pools are lovely and were very clean. The only problem was that they were very cold and we were unable to stay in them for long, even the baby/child pools were chilly. There is an inside pool but we did not use it.

We paid for a sea view room and were really impressed. It was spotlessly clean and spacious and the view was incredible. We had asked for a cot to be provided and it was there waiting for us, again very clean. The bathroom was modern with a great hair dryer and lots of little shampoos etc.

My only concerns would be that the carpets in the corridor were in desperate need of replacing, but this will all be done in the refurb. The lifts were somewhat unpredictable, on 2 occasions it stuck between floors, only for about 5 seconds but that is enough to make you panic! There are 4 lifts to choose from, on many occasions it appeared that only 2 were working. We were on floor 5 and would have much preferred to use a staircase but it appeared that the only staircase you could use after floor 3 was the emergency one.

There is a superb children's park just outside of the hotel which was very clean. There is a bus stop very close by, a nice beach around 10 mins walk ago, and also a large shopping centre with many nice restaurants.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the radisson blu st Julian's and would definitely return. The wedding day was perfect and the stunning grounds and location of the hotel made it one to remember for everyone.

Room Tip: Opt for a sea view room rather than a side sea view
