“Superb hotel in excellent location”
Reviewed 29 June 2014

Very impressed with all aspects of this hotel; warm welcome, great room and view, new bathrooms, excellent breakfast buffet. Enjoyed a good lunch at The Edge restaurant which is right on the rocks at the edge of the sea but highlight was the welcome BBQ we enjoyed on the pool terrace; truly excellent spread and all meat and fish cooked to perfection; no small feat when catering for a party of 30. Two good pools; plenty off loungers. Understand the hotel is going to undergo a major refurbishment and will be closed for 9 months from September 2014.

Just stayed here for 6 nights and had a brilliant stay. Hotel is in a convenient location around 10 minutes walk to Paceville and around 20 mins to lovely Spinola Bay in St Julian's. Our room was spacious and had a good-sized balcony with a sea-view (see photos). The staff are excellent - friendly, personable and very service orientated. Also, very easy to arrange a taxi to-from airport by email before we arrived.

Plug sockets in the room are already fitted with international adaptor plugs so you can plug straight in as soon as you arrive - my only gripe would be that there are only two plug sockets in the room so this can be challenging when you both need to keep several devices charged.

There is a "main" pool area (see photos) but also additional pool areas at the side of the hotel in the 'Radisson Lido'. There is also a wide range of bars and restaurants. We didn't eat breakfast but had lunch at the pool everyday from the Pool Bar menu. Food (at the Pool Bar) is served in take-away boxes so you can eat at your sun-lounger (if you want to!) and the menu has a wide selection of Maltese dishes, pastas, wraps, salads, fish n chips, pies etc. Of course, there are also several other restaurants to eat in with more formal service ("The Edge" down by the Lido definitely looked worth trying!).

We also have to recommend the hotel cocktails - in particular, the "coconut mojito" at the pool bar and the "creamy apple pie martini" in the Bridge Bar were both excellent. However, my only other gripe would be that drinks were overpriced compared to other comparable local establishments. You always expect to pay more for a drink in a hotel but when other hotels of the same standard are charging less you do feel a bit cheated.

Nevertheless, we had an amazing stay. Staff are fantastic and we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

My husband & I recently got married at the hotel, & I found the staff excellent. Our hotel room was Lovely, clean & the view from out room was amazing of the sea with the sun setting in the evening.
The Breakfast was exceptional with something to suit every taste, also the Bar & Bistro menu were Fabulous too.
The pools were of a high standard with plenty of sun loungers & it was nice to see that people couldn't just keep them with towels as this isn't allowed.
The hotel is a beautiful 5 minute walk to the Beach & town where there is a Bar/restaurant to suit every need.
On the day of the wedding we had a few hitches at the hotel but thankfully it was all sorted in time. The venue, food & drink at the Wedding was Top notch & the staff were amazing. Everyone was really pleased & enjoyed themselves.
Overall I was very happy with our stay here & will always have fond memories of the place. A special thanks to Chris Tanti (the food & drink Manager) who is excellent at his job & made our stay all the more special for going the extra mile with the little touches.

I spent two nights in this hotel with my wife and my infant son, the room is very old the bathroom is very nice. breakfast was very good. the location is not good as you need to walk about 300 meter to reach the nearest bus station where you can take bus number 13 to go to other places. i requested king size bed however i was given two single beds attached to each other. the service is super excellent and staff are very friendly and willing to make the stay as comfortable as it can be. the hotel needs to be refurbished as the furniture is very old.

Room Tip: i stayed in room 536 and it was over looking the sea.

Our stay was lovely, service was excellent, staff were very friendly and always helpful and pleasant. The hotel is a little tired and needs some attention, but is clean. I understsand they will be closing for a refurbishment at the end of 2014, I would love to see it then! Although there was a local beach and the pool areas were lovely, we would have preferred a nicer, larger beach. But overall the holiday was wonderful and there is sightseeing. The only think I would have liked is a childrens play area indoors and a larger one outdoors. They only opened the outdoor one near the end of our stay.

My wife & I have recently been on a trip to Malta and had the most pleasurable experience. We have been to Valletta on a short visit some years ago when we docked there on a cruise, spending just a few hours there. This time we spent five days on the island, staying at the Radisson Blu resort in St Julian's. The hotel was very enjoyable, the setting was good with lovely sea views. Our room was sea facing, very comfortable and spacious with a large balcony. The room was well maintained and well appointed Coffee & tea making facilities were included. The bathroom was generous in its size and was well provided with toiletries. The food was excellent, with a varied menu. Breakfast was buffet style, and provided a huge selection of choices to start the busiest of days. The grounds were extensive and well maintained. There is a lovely children's pool area with some quieter areas further into the grounds. The staff were courteous, helpful, efficient and the most friendly we have met. Indeed, everyone on the Island we met were genuinely friendly. Just a short walk downhill is the bay with a variety of shops, most will be familiar to the U.K visitors. However, going back may prove difficult to anyone with walking difficulties as it is a fairly steep walk. We discovered a very good Italian Restaurant just a sort walk from the hotel, in the grounds of the adjoining hotel Corinthia. Travel was amazing, we took the local service bus to Valletta for the day from the stop by the hotel, it cost us 3 euros for the two of us on an all day ticket and this was to anywhere on the Island. Eating out was fairly expensive, a two course meal with the local wine (which was delicious) In fact, I had to sample several other varieties just to make sure the first bottle wasn't a fluke! cost in the region of 40 euros. Overall, a most enjoyable stay and we will look forward to our next visit to this enchanting Island and her neighbour, Gozo. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Worth paying the extra for a lovely sea view.
