We decided to stay at the Radisson St Julians yet again as we have always enjoyed everything about the hotel. We were not disappointed it was our most enjoyable stay helped by lovely sunshine most days. The highlight of the stay was the New Years eve Gala dinner which was a lavish affair and a great nights entertainment. We could honestly not find any cause for complaint during our 2 week stay at the hotel from the staff to the food and the overall cleanliness of the hotel. We will stay again without a doubt.

We chose the Radisson for a family break ( myself, wife and 16 year old son) during the mid term school holiday. On arriving, we were immediately impressed with the reception area and ground floor foyer. Very 5 star. Our rooms though were a different matter. The furnishings were no better than a normal 3 star hotel. My wife found long black hairs all over the room, in the bath on the bathroom floor and even on the tea and coffee facility tray! Our son came in and said that his bath was full of limescale. After complaining. and having our room " deep cleaned " we could still write our name in the dust on the T.V. shelf and other surfaces in both rooms.
At breakfast, The sausages, bacon, scrambled eggs etc. were never hot, only mildly warm.
A big disappoint was to find out that although we were on a school mid term break, and the weather was still very warm, nothing outside was open. Lying round the pool was like being in a ghost town! Nothing to eat, nothing to drink, unless you wanted to get dressed and go back into the hotel and pay the extortionate prices they charge.
There are no shops nearby, the closest being almost a mile away in St. Julians down a very steep hill. Be warned about coming back up! The "sandy" beach there is really a gritty beach, with piles of smelly seaweed. The flies love it.
We will never be coming back.

We stayed for 10 days over New Year 2009/10. Excellent hotel. The staff were all very friendly and attentive. Rooms are spacious and well appointed. The buffet breakfast in the main dinning room is very good. The food in the "Le Bistro" (a 24 hour restaurant) was exceptional! The excellent, very comfortable Bridge Bar was good for a quiet drink and had, on some evenings, piano player - some evenings it had English or European football on discreet TV screen (and played at discreet volume - if you don't want to see / hear football)

Unfortunately we had a poor start. We arrived at the hotel for our 10 night christmas break only to find that the double bed comprised of two single mattresses and two single duvets, our son's bed was a portable camper bed. I was also unhappy that I had requested a "good" table at the bistro restaurant and was asked by the manager to return in 5 minutes, I returned in 5 minutes and was told the table was not quite ready, I returned to the bar next door. After a few more minutes we went back to the bistro and were told to wait by the bar in the bistro as the table would take a few more minutes. Why they could not simply have said they would call us from their bar next door when our table was ready I don't know. When I was shown to the table it was not a "good " table, next to the kitchen and close to a large family dining with 3 children. On a good note however I raised this with the night manager who apologised for the Bistro approach and assured me that the problems with the bedding would be looked into first thing in the morning as it was now approximately 11 pm.
I was very impressed with Marika and the night manager for sorting out the bedding the next morning, although why it could not have been in place upon our arrival I don't know. She also gave us a complimentary meal which was an unexpected surprise and she showed some concern that we had not sorted out our dining arrangements for Christmas day and offered to provisionally hold us a place for the day. I was deeply touched by her concern. On Christmas Eve we were invited to a choir performance in the main bar and offered canapes and drinks. The performance was splendid and all in all a good start to celebrating christmas in Malta. Upon our return to the room we found gifts and a card on the bed (mince pies, chocolate surprise box for a young child, connect four and an electrical gift for us) a really nice touch!
We travelled the length and breadth of Malta during our stay in our hired car, (bus services are also good and cheap and the bus stop in just outside the hotel and charges not more than 50 p to Velleta). The concierge at the hotel was extremely helpful with providing us with details of the weather, parking or good days to visit different sites. Michael in the bar is an absolute star. The room, once the beds were sorted was large and cleaned to a good standard. TV channels could have been better, the pay per view £16.31 was ridiculous, especially as we had travelled from the Marriott in Edinbourgh and they only charge £6.50 per movie. Breakfast was fabulous, exstensive selection and great quality, I especially liked the sparkling white wine (nice touch!). Malta grew on me and we would definitely return both to Malta and this hotel. The staff all made this a wonderful christmas break, the hotel responded both well and swiftly to any complaints (which were very few, the two aforementioned on the first night) which I really appreciated. Prior to going out to Malta we had considered staying at the intercontinental, the hilton, the corinthia or the dragoneria. On this visit out we checked out the competition and felt we had chosen the right hotel. Thank you Michael, Marika, Peter and Night Manager (sorry I can't remembe your name) for taking very good care of us and giving us a memorable Christmas. We look forward to visiting again. Wishing you all the best for 2010. Happy New Year.

As a family of five (3 children) it was our first time spending Christmas away from extended family and roasted Christmas turkey. So naturally we were all a bit apprehensive about staying at any hotel at this time. We need not had worried. The Radisson was welcoming and family friendly. The ambience reflecting Christmas was truly spot on. The room service at the Radisson was excellent with loads of coffee and tea refills every day. We felt quite at home at this five star hotel. High standard of care was maintained throughout our stay and report of any discomfort was quickly resolved. A top Maltese choir was invited to sing for guest on 24th evening and guest were provided with free wine and nibbles. We had Christmas dinner at the Bistro and again that was very good. Portions were very large and the children needed helping hands to finish their food! There was amazing sea view from the bedrooms. Waking up to the Mediterranean Sea view was certainly one of the highlights for me. It was just too much for me to contain each morning. We rented a car so as to go around the Island and to Gozo but if you don't plan to do much sightseeing then you will not need a car as the hotel is quite central - probably 15 minutes walk into town if that, and yet in a quiet location at the same time. A great benefit I think. Amenities at the hotel suited both kids and adults, including my teenage son. Free internet allowed us to call friends using our laptop on Christmas day to wish them happy Christmas. If there's any negative comment to add it would be the lack of a microwave in the suite kitchen that we had. I think this hotel made the Malta experience an experience I would love to repeat one day soon.

Great service from reception, the Bistro restaurant and the gym and spa. Food n the bistro was brill. Buffet breakfast featured tinned fruit for a lovely retro touch.

Room was tired and cold there was no heating.

Loyalty points were on my account within a week.

We usually stay at the radisson at least twice a year, in March and December (Xmas Week ) We have found the hotel excellent the staff superb, so friendly and always willing to go out of their way to make your holiday a happy and sucessful one. The food is always excellent, the rooms are clean and always fresh looking. The housekeeping staff have always been excellent. All the staff we now look upon as dear friends and it is always a pleasure for us to return. We have used the radisson since it first opened and have always been highly delighted with the service the, food and presentation of the food. The management are always available to discuss any matters with you. Due to mother breaking her hip we are unable to go to the hotel for Xmas this year. We have recommended several friends and even taken friends with us to stay at the hotel. All have been highly delighted with the hotel and associated services. In our view it is a great hotel, this being due to the excllent management and staff.
