“You get what you pay for”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 March 2013

We have only just returned 16/3/13. To start with the local area is very lively plenty of bars clubs and cafes. The hotel has as I was told recently changed owners we were here for 1week and noticed little bits of improvements . The food is basic with limited choice but always something to eat (maybe you could change your bacon suppliers though guys) the bread and rolls were always fresh. The bar snacks were very basic. The staff reception bar and entertainment were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble (especially the entertainer Leigh who is really friendly and will go the extra mile to help even if it's not his department) the rooms were basic but clean (maybe a few more English channels on tv but hey you are in a foreign country) the pool and surrounding area was always clean plenty of loungers and tables and chairs to sit. The beers cold alcohols strong (and plenty of it) walk to the corner at the black bull bar get a day ticket for the hop on hop off bus from the english guy whos always there and go explore this lovely island and stop moaning give it a try it will only get better.

Room Tip: If you want a quiet room ask for pool facing room as the others do get noise from surrounding bars

The hotel staff we not friendly. Took three days to sort Toilet that was leaking. Maintenance man left bathroom in a mess when he had fixed problem. Room was not changed every day. Food was not hot and tables were not clean. WiFi is only based in reception. Charged me for non attendance even though I changed the dates and got an email confirmation.

This is not a 4 star luxury hotel, but you are not paying 4 star luxury prices!! We calculated that it cost us less than £15 per day for our 10 day all inclusive stay. For that we had 3 meals a day, unlimited drinks, snacks, room, maid every other day, and use of the pools. HOW CAN YOU COMPLAIN ABOUT THAT??? Ok, the food wasn't wonderful, but it was edible, a choice of fish or meat dishes every day, plus salad, soup, bread and dessert. Limited choice, but the restaurant was clean, and the staff in the restaurant were extremely helpful and very efficient, constantly clearing plates away, cleaning tables and serving areas, and couldn't do enough for us.
The hotel is in an area full of bars and clubs, with the resulting noise, but there are quiet rooms, so you need to request one if you want peace and quiet. It was great having so many bars and shops so close to the hotel.
Our room was basic, but clean, with plenty of extra pillows and blankets. The hotel is undergoing a refurbishment at the moment, and the rooms could do with some attention, ie re-tiling round the bath. But most of he problems were caused by previous guests ie cigarette burns on the bedside cabinets and graffiti on the balcony wall. That is not the fault of the hotel, but the guests!
The public rooms were spotless and very nice, the staff were extremely helpful, and although the outdoor toilets were poorly equipped, we are in the habit of carrying toilet paper around with us anyway, as we have travelled a lot in France where it is NEVER supplied.
All in all, if you want a cheap holiday, this is fine, but you have to keep it in perspective. You get what you pay for!!!!

Room Tip: If you want a quiet room, ask for one. Be prepared to supply your own toilet paper and hand cleanser...

Rooms were clean and tidy. Shower was ok but bed was terribly lumpy and short.
The meals were really low standard and everything smelled of fish. The soup was nice though. And there was always fresh fruit. A tip...don't eat the bacon. It was all fat and now and then there would be a pink bit of meat attached.
The bar staff (Marcel & Albert) were friendly and helpful but reception & managers weren't. Hotel is NON-SMOKING and we witnessed them trying to get a woman arrested for smoking on her balcony and refusing to pay the €150 fine.
Great location for the party scene but that has its drawbacks as well as its noisy at night....all night.
The swimming pools were not heated so nobody swam in them, and the indoor pool by the gym was even colder because that is a heated pool, but they refuse to turn the heating on.
It felt like a trainee hotel because no matter who you asked a question to, they would ask someone else, and they in turn, someone else.
I met some great people there and made friends easily. Initially I thought they were all whingers going on about the bad food and the such, but after a day or two, you understand their point.
What topped it all off for me was check out at 11am. I'd checked out on time but an hour later realized I'd left all my British money in the drawer. Reception gave me the key back and when I got to the room it had already been cleaned and the money was gone. I locked the room, went back to reception and explained to 5 people, one after another, what had happened. I suggested that the cleaner might still have it and will hand it in after her shift. I was made to wait for 45 minutes in the reception and eventually I was beckoned over by another manager. This time i was marched by 2 of them to the lift, taken to the 7th floor where I was made to wait by the lift for another 15 minutes while one of them spoke to the cleaner, then escorted to the room by the pair of managers without a cleaner in sight. He opened the drawer and pointed inside and said its empty. I explained that that was my point. He said the cleaner had seen the money in there but she didn't take it and that I must be a liar because she wouldn't lie to him. I said I'd contact the police and he said he'd do it for me because by the time they arrive and start taking statements, I still won't have any proof and I'll miss my flight home later that afternoon.

So....to summarize;
You get what you pay for. Booked it cheap, expected cheap, it was cheap. There were some nice points about the place like the bar staff and entertainers.
I wont go back myself. I would have if they hadn't STOLEN MY MONEY OUT OF THE ROOM.

Room Tip: I paid extra for sea view. That means a higher floor to look out over the other buildings.

If you have read my reiews before you will see i am fair
we have just returned from this hotel all inclusive for a week and i can honestly say its the worst i have ever had ok price was cheap 180 pounds each so with that price i knew that it was poor quality.
God what an understatement.
Didnt help going in the elections people hanging out of cars blowing horns loud music all night long.
Never go to anywhere near valetta what a dump a city lost in time derelict buildings everywhere.
Back to the hotel very dated but clean rooms usuall two stars nothing more.Room cleaned only once during stay.
The food i wouldnt give my dog and he will eat anything, in a week all we had was toast in the morning everything else was not edible.
I dont know what some of these people were eating when i read their reveiws but it certainly wasnt on my menu.
Lee tried his best with the entertaining but he didnt have a clue and gladly admitted it the last night i took over the entertainment,
The management at the hotel were rude ,unhelpful and didnt care about any of the guests.
Try another resort away fromValetta if you have to visit Malta if not Try another country.
Sorry if this sounds a little harsh but im only being honest

Room Tip: First find another resort on another Island

We went here after being told that the first hotel booked was full in Qawra. And were told it was a good place to stay. When we got there we had to wait 4hrs for our appartment. When we eventually got the key and opened the door what a dump. The whole place was dirty I spent the first two days back and fourth to reception that every time the toilet was flushed water flooded the floor eventually we got moved next door the only difference was that the toilet worked. the room was for four adults the beds were like berth bunks.under the block was a night club and the whole place would vibrate from the thumping of the music which could last until 5am.

Room Tip: go somewhere else
