“Great hotel brilliant staff”
Reviewed 28 March 2013

Just got back from a stay at this hotel. I can,t recommend it highly enough. Ideal location for night life, a fantastic array of restaurants and the main bus routes. On the hotel, good standard rooms, very spacious, comfortable and clean. First class breakfast and everything runs so smoothly. Finally I can,t praise the staff enough, always available to help, pleasant and totally attentive. Thank you all for making our stay so easy.

Room Tip: Room at the back of the hotel overlooking st George's bay sunny most of the day but not in eveni...

Good hotel and friendly and efficient staff. Excellent quality of food and choice at breakfast. However, March was probably not the best time to visit as our week was spoilt by the rain. This hotel is advertised as St Julians, but beware - it is St Georges Bay, on the outskirts of St Julians. I would imagine the walk from the hotel into St Julians to be extremely hot in the summer. This hotel is in the Paceville area of St Julians which has it's fair share of gentlemens clubs and nightclubs for the younger set, so be warned if that is not your idea of a walk out at night. In March not all the restaurants were open and there was much frantic activity refurbishing and getting the resort ready for the main summer season. We found a wonderful restaurant - Gozitan, serving local food with excellent hospitality which finally made us feel as though we were on the holiday that we were hoping for.

Lovely hotel if you wish to stay in the area. Great views across St.George's Bay,lovely restaurants, relaxing atmosphere all round. We found the food great.
Our room was faultless,as was the service and we enjoyed our balcony. Super comfy beds. Relaxing decor.
My wife was also very impressed that you are allowed to use the indoor pool and spa at it's sister hotel the Corinthia, which is a two minutes walk away.
The Hotel is a short walk down a shallow hill into the bay,and then on into the main drag of Paceville, which is brim full of entertainment and restaurants to suit all tastes. (Oh- and at the bottom of the hill to the right check out our favourite bar and eatery- Andrew's Bar...I've left a review elsewhere here- do check them out).
We liked the fact that after the buzzing atmosphere of St.Julian's it was great to be able to return to a haven of tranquility.
I've been to some 4 star hotels but this place is way up the scale.
If I had to rate this hotel out of five stars I'd give it 4 1/2.
If I had to rate the staff by the same criteria they would get 11,they really do their utmost to please-I'm really impressed and grateful-thank you all we had the best time.

We stayed for 3 nights in this hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff. The rooms are comfortable but we were with 3 people and stayed in a double room with extra bed. The room was a bit (too) small because of that. But the balcony with sea view was amazing.
An excellent breakfast. Free parking in the street in front of the hotel. Walking distance from the center. Free wifi in the lobby of the hotel, although free wifi in the room would be even better.
But we payed only 26 euro p.p.p.n. so it was Value for Money. (booked by booking.com)

Room Tip: We stayed on the 3rd floor, Reception level.

The hotel sits just outside the main town of St.Julian on a not too steep hill, a 15 to 20 minute walk overlooking a bay with a small sandy beach. There is a bus stop outside the hotel (No. 205 buses run three minutes past the hour and it's just two stops to the main square from where onward buses can be caught to Valletta and the airport (X2), the 205 will take you to Mdina via Mosta, route 12 follows the bay, well worth the trip. A free hotel shuttle will also drop you into Valetta and collect you, booking is essential. I believe that one will also drop you at Sliema, for the ferries and waterfront. The hotel is only a ten minute walk to the Bay street area; clubs, bars etc. plus shopping area, McD's, multiplex cinema and popular bowling alley, the noise does not reach the hotel. The hotel is within a complex, its sister hotel has an indoor pool and three outside pools which may be used. The Marina hotel has one outside pool. The breakfast buffet should be suitable for everyone, large selection, full English etc. There are on site restaurants to suit all tastes and local bars nearby towards the beach. The desk staff are extremely helpful, friendly but professional and attentive 5 stars for all of them. There are two computers with free internet access and internet wifi access is available for a modest fee. The rooms are clean, facilities as expected ensuite, in room TV, kettle, mini bar, towelling robes, desk table and if you have the sea view option, a table and two chairs placed on the balcony. Use of the room safe requires a lock/key to be rented? I thoroughly enjoyed my stay 1th march 2013 onwards, The proximity to Bay Street and the bus services, plus the free mini bus made travelling around easy. Taxis are available from the hotel and the Bay Street Mall. Plenty of restaurants, fast food etc. available, parking available, at cost on site. The hotel is as stated clean, modern, has areas of seating outside and inside, in summary comfortable. I would stay there again, which says a great deal. If you do one thing, take the B&B option and get a copy of the bus timetable. The experience on the Maltese buses is second to none; bone shaking rides, drivers who rule the roads (being generally the largest vehicles on the road), all part of the adventure. Top tip, sit on the left side of the bus as you will be able to read the bus stop signs and know where you are, especially at night when they turn the internal electric signs off (?) - not much use to tourists in the dark!

In Valletta take the Malta Experience and St.John's Hospital tour, visit the park above the saluting gallery for views of the Grand Harbour, the cathedral, walk the streets.

Favourite
The staff, location near enough to everything on offer but quiet, breakfast choices, free shuttle bus, general presentation of the hotel.

Least Favourite
Additional payment for internet access and safe key?

Room Tip: Sea front rooms offer a balcony with a table and two chairs, overlooking the bay

Found a great deal for a 3 night break including breakfast, checked in quite late but received a lovely welcome. Parking was extremely limited but I somehow managed to stay 3 nights without using the parking garage - although this was not particularly overpriced!

The room I was given was spacious, nicely decorated - felt as if the bathroom didn't live up to the 4 star rating... I was disappointed to receive a twin room when I had booked and specified a double room. The room contained a minibar and a rather old TV but was very clean and tidy.

Breakfast the first morning was a bit disappointing, few staff to be seen and a lot of items were missing from the buffet. To be fair they were eventually replaced and there was a good choice - in the next days more staff were present but not to seat you or anything. If you hadn't booked breakfast, you could take it anyway as nobody would notice.

Had dinner on one night, this was expensive - but an acceptable standard. It was also a buffet which meant there were a few choices. There are other restaurant opportunities on site and very nearby.

I used the indoor pool and jacuzzi at the neighbouring Corinthia Hotel, it is a short walk - but on my way back found entrance doors locked and difficult to access. The pool was small, the changing rooms were dirty and had no shower gel / shampoo - poor for a five star establishment!

A fantastic 4 days at the Marina hotel in St Julian's! The hotel is amazing - beautiful setting, with excellent facilities. We had a lovely buffet breakfast each day and enjoyed using the restaurants which are part of this great complex! However, the most impressive thing about our stay was the courteous hotel staff, who just couldn't do enough to help in many ways, from sorting out taxis to advising us on trips round Malta. Steven was especially polite and helpful and went out of his way to ensure that our stay here was perfect! Joseph and Mario were also really lovely and did all they could to help us. I would certainly return, and strongly recommend anyone who visits St Julian's to stay here!
