“We loved the Intercontinental Malta”
Reviewed 13 July 2011

We have just returned from a week's holiday in Malta. We stayed at the Intercontinental in St. Julian's Bay and really enjoyed our visit. Our room was spacious, we loved the pool and beach club. The staff were very good but we'd like to single out Pepe the concierge and Kate at the al-fresco restaurant for special praise. Pepe was so kind and helpful, he was always attentive and really looked after us. We felt lucky to meet kate when we did, she gave us lots of tips about places to visit and gave us great service at the restaurant when we dined there. We would love to come back one day!

We spent the first week of July in the Intercontinental and can't fault much of it. The consierge couldn't do enough for us, check-in and check-out processes were friendly and efficient, the bed was super comfortable, room large and clean, bathroom clean and comfortable, breakfast was very good and we made use of their 'dine around' offer. It was the best steak I've had in a while (in their BBQ restaurant) and in the restaurant on the sea front (Paranga?) we had the best service ever, and the lamb dish was delicious. The only thing I would suggest is providing free Wi-Fi in the rooms rather than charging by the hour (sometimes you only need 5 minutes to check your emails on iPhone). The asian restaurant was not to the same standard (not bad though!). Loved the pool on the rooftop, even though we weren't around much to use it. Scuba in Malta was excellend (lots of wrecks). What else can I say - just lovely!

Upon arrival we were immediattely impressed by the hotel and the staff. The club room (15th floor) was excellent and consisted of a very nice living room with television and playstation, separate bedroom with two beds (1.20m) and television, separate bathroom with shower and bath, separate toilet. The room was very clean upon arrival and housekeeping made sure it kept that way on daily bases. The whole staff (reception, restaurants, housekeeping, bar, etc) was very friendly, professional and helpfull. The hotel has 8 restauants and offers a great variety. We have had fantastic breakfast and dinners. Nice swimming pool outside on the 10th floor with bar, plenty of sunbeds, umbrellas and towels. The inside swimming pool was closed for renovation. There is also a hairdresser and spa at the hotel. Going back? Without any doubt I strongly recommend this hotel!

An Oasis of calm close to all the nightlife of St Julians bay
One of the best parts of the hotel is the dine for 3 nights for €60 which gives you a 3 course meal in any of the hotels 8 restaurants very good value.
The staff were helpful and everything was clean and well kept, there are very good facilities at the hotel for fitness, pampering and eating.
we would go to the hotel again.

We got sent here as the hotel Cavalieri which we had booked had no rooms for us.
At first we were slightly disapointed with the hotels location as you have to walk through Paceville to get to it. However when we saw our room we were delighted. Although we had a room facing on to the street, it was the quietist room that we have ever stayed in with wonderfully comfy beds and pillows.
All the staff were friendly and helpfull and the breakfasts superb.
The rooftop pool area was lovely and you could always find a quiet corner. The poolside resturant is excellent and very resonably priced.
The hotel also has its own little patch of beach a 2 minute walk away and this made a lovely change to the pool area.
I would highly recommend this hotel and dont let the location put you off.

We stayed the IC Malta from 2nd till 9th July. It was super and we also want to say a special thank to Cornelia, Jeanine(reception) and Jon who made us the best eggs in the morning!
This hotel also has a private beach and a lot of good restaurants such as Paranga.
Kind regards

Aurélie

The I is the perfect combination of a business class hotel coupled with all of the facilities and amenities that holidaymakers expect.

We had an 11th floor executive room overlooking the panoramic pool and the courtyard of the Al Fresco restaurant. Contrary to another report we heard nothing of the music when we were in our room.

Room was huge with 2 double beds, a fantastic bathroom with a massive tub and separate shower. All the usual mod cons (hairdryer, iron, tea/coffee, minibar, cable tv with Sky 1/SS1/SS2/Sky Living etc)

Public areas very clean and contemporary.

Breakfast (huge buffet style) was pretty amazing. Can't think of anything more anybody could want.

Location is interesting as it is in the heart of the bar district in the Paceville part of St. Julians. Don't be put off by this but I would try to get a room that doesn't overlook the front of the hotel as I could imagine it might be a little noisy.

There is a small mall opposite with Adidas, Marks and Spencer Food, Hilfiger, Mexx, McDonalds (free WiFi as not free in hotel), Hard Rock, and a few other decent restaurants.

There is a small but busy sandy beach about 100 yards from the front door of the hotel and there is a private section for residents.

Roof top pool is great and there are plenty of sun beds. Towels are free too.

The bar by the pool is actually good value especially for the great food. Pizzas are really good and so too the wraps and club sandwich.

Take a walk in the evening over to the next bay (Spinola Bay) as there are some great value restaurants especially Papperazzi!

Carry on around the coast from Spinola for a couple of Km's and you will get to Sliema where there is a great new development, Tigne Point with a good Mall and some cracking eateries.

The change over to Arriva bus services from the iconic yellow buses that took place on Sunday 3rd July 2011 not entirely seamless but I reckon they will get there. Sad to see the yellow buses gone though (only the well maintained ones though as some were real clunkers)

Would recommend the I. Clean, modern, good service, good pool, good food, close access to buses etc.

Try it, you won't be disappointed.
