Have just returned from a family holiday staying at intercontinental in st julians. We had a very pleasant and enjoyable stay at this hotel. Gardens and lobby area of hotel were beautiful, breakfast was like a banquet with so much choice. Staff very friendly and nothing was a problem. Nice enough area, but if you dont want to be in the middle of the nightlife its best you dont stay here. Once inside we didnt hear a thing. However i would rate this hotel a 4star rather than 5star. Although rooms were nice, they could do with updating, as could the pool area. We had friends staying at the hilton, which after visiting, there is no doubt the hilton hotel is on a different level. I would still recommend this hotel to anyone considering staying here.

Firstly: We visited in 2010 and were so impressed by this Hotel that is was a unanimous decision to come back. Secondly: We did raise our concerns with management and had quite in depth discussions and they did appreciate our constructive criticism.

We did arrive very early and had to sit in the lounge area for some 3 hours or more. The front of house staff were very efficient and apologizing for the delay. Plus offering to take our luggage if we wished to go somewhere and return later.

The room was on the 13th floor with a balcony and facing the pool. Below was the garden with Alfresco restaurant.

The room was brilliant, very spacious and comfy. A problem with the basin was put right almost immediately. Cleaning done very promptly.

We felt the breakfast a let down this time. Much of the grill items were undercooked and not very warm. The 'egg' chef didnt appear very interested in his job, omelets cooked to order but fried eggs done in bulk and not cooked well. On our last visit the staff were so attentive. As soon as we had been sat at our table they arrived offering Coffee or Tea. This time we were left sitting and most mornings we got our own hot drinks - no problem with getting them - but just so different from before. Very little chat between the staff and guests, last time I felt we got to know some of the staff well.

Sweet Freeze Friday: I appreciate the hotel has to survive and make a profit. We were there for their 1st and 2nd event. We could hear the music from this event so clearly. I actually sat in bed at 23.23 and recorded it, you would of thought that I was being serenaded in my room. I did actually get a chance to let Andrea, Front Office Manager hear it and I think he was a bit surprised and said he would pass my comments on. We did have other people around us who also commented that it was too loud. One couple had 2 little boys who they couldn't get settled and they were 'horrible' the next day as not enough sleep - parents comment not mine.

To add to this the music was also loud from the Alfresco restaurant, on alternate days they had a chap singing (trying to sing!) and it was the same play list. To add this to the Friday music it was 'clashing' in the room.

I did suggest that perhaps management should go to some of the rooms opposite the pool and listen for themselves.

I felt this time that there were two sets of staff, possibly working for different groups. The people from reception desk, concierge, pool staff, cleaning were the Best. The staff working in Breakfast room were on another planet.

We did not eat in any of the hotel restaurants as their times are very limiting for us. We like to eat around 17.00 but none open at that time. We know we could have ordered room service but thought as the cooked breakfast food wasn't very hot then we didn't stand much chance of it being better delivered.

Although being in the Club area there is no obvious noise or disturbance from them. There are plenty of walks, restaurants and small shops to see.

Andrea asked if we would come back..... sadly no

The hotel itself is very nice, helpful staff, lovely pool area. Restaurants seem nice but not particularly my style. The main problem is that Diamond own suites within the hotel rather than the complex and therefore not up to the expected standard. Had a real problem with Wi-Fi as was told by Diamond it was free (as silver member) but it was not - although reception were very helpful to resolve this issue even though it was Diamond to blame. Rooms ok, towels very scratchy and small - not 5 * quality and kitchen is minimal. Also the hotel itself is situated in the heart of clubland - good for 18-30 but not so much for families in the evening as lots of students (drinking) Ask for a room overlooking the gardens as less street noise.

This hotel is ideally located close to many shops, bars and transport. It also has a private section of a beach in St George's bay. The hotel is close to the lively area of Paceville, which is just a short walk away, but you wouldn't know it from the peaceful atmosphere of the hotel and its surroundings. It is also close to the beautiful Spinola Bay, which has some lovely restaurants, where we spent most of our evenings.

The room was an ideal base for our holiday, and a refuge from the sweltering heat outside. It was large, with good air conditioning (which we could not have survived without!), a lovely, well-equipped bathroom, comfy bed, and balcony.

There are two swimming pools - one outdoor rooftop pool and one indoor pool. We found the indoor pool to be relatively quiet at most times, whereas the rooftop pool was busy throughout our stay (July 2012). The hotel also has a number of restaurants. We found breakfast to be of a good standard with a wide choice of food ranging from healthy fruit to classic English breakfast items. However, the one time we had an evening meal in one of the restaurants we were underwhelmed by its quality and the poor service we experienced.

Apart from the restuarant service, we found the staff to be helpful and friendly.

We would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Malta.

still remember the hotel, the great atmosphere, all the helpful hotel staff, and the location, will comeback soon to visit Malta and stay in the hotel. If you go to this hotel, you will never have problems, and if you have just simply go to the hotel's trouble shooter Mr. Andrea, front desk manger, he works hard to satisfy his clients.regards.

Me and my family went to malta 2 years ago and last year and we stayed in this hotel we are going back this month for a week. The staff that work at the hotel treat the holiday makers like royalty it is not the most beautiful place or the quietest. Their arn't that many young children that stay there but that might not be the case at different times of the year. It is easy to relax at this hotel and it is situated on one of the most senic bays. The only down side is where it is because you sometimes feel that you on in the middle of a building site. Over the road from the hotel there is a little shopping centre where you can go have some lunch and there is a nice shoe shop.
