Stayed at the start of family holiday -idea was to use this location as a base to see some of the island before moving on.

Hotel is excellent standard - public areas and guest suite were furnished to high quality and well kept.

Staff could not do more to help and support us - we had a couple of minor issues during our stay ( e.g. Airport pick up car did not arrive) - but these were dealt with quickly and appropriately ( Apology and refund).

Summary - great location , excellent hotel environment

I was a bit anxious booking this hotel reading the mixed reviews but my family were amazingly surprised. I travel with 2 children, one teenager and an 8 year old and we have travelled in Europe and America and My children rated this hotel as next to the Vegas hotels we have stayed.
The receptionist, Mark was very helpful when we arrived after midnight on tne 27th of October, he offered me an upgrade of the room which I didnt plan but I guess having the 11th floor overlooking the swimming pool and the garden was a better option rather than overlooking tne street. The other reviews stated that this hotel is in a bad location iis true because you have to passby all the clubs and pubs before you can get to this hotel but didnt really bother us. Everything is close, like restaurants and shopping mall is just accross. the outdoor pool or the beach didn't look appealing to me but couldnt really comment as we didnt use those facilities.
The staff seem very helpful and pleasant although we are a family that are very easily pleased and not needing a lot to do with the staff. Our room was cleaned every day and quiet. The breakfast was good, everything you need is there.

This was our second visit to this hotel , the last being pre kids, this time we brought them with us.
The service at this hotel is by far the best of any hotel I have ever been to, and I have been to many all over the world.
Breakfasts (buffet style in The Haruba dining room) were plentiful and there was plenty to choose from. Agnes the lovely waitress who looked after us impeccably deserves recognition for all her hard work.
Dinner (buffet style in The Haruba ) we don't normally do buffet dinners, but with young children we thought we would give it a go and I'm glad we did (Chef Lilly made a great friends with our kids and spoiled them rotten cooking items for them specially.Thank you Lilly). The buffet food was varied every night, hot, fresh and appetizing. The waiting staff again were amazing.
The suite we had was well equipped with everything one could need and more.Housekeeping were excellent and kept everything topped up and tidied up after us (no mean task with our kids).
Guest services were always on hand to sort anything that needed sorting ie birthday cake for one of the kids, and thank you from them for the treats you sent to the room.
The concierge was brilliant, if there's anything you want to know or book he's the man to see.
All the amenities that we used (pools, garden, beach club, kids play room etc) were of good quality and well maintained.
All in all we had a wonderful 10 days.
Thank you to all for making our holiday so enjoyable.

Just returned from 8 nights at The InterContinental Malta. First impressions upon arriving to the hotel were not good - it is in a very built up, noisy and slightly dirty area (Paceville) which is basically the clubbing/bowling/cinema/gentleman's club strip of the island. Coming from London suburbs this is exactly what we didn't want. Already fearing we may have made a mistake with our booking we were presented with our rooms (2 couples, 2 double rooms) and things only got worse. Our rooms were on the back of the hotel looking over construction sites with no view whatsoever just concrete buildings. We immediately decided that we wanted to move hotel and went to look at the Westin Dragonara just down the road which appeared to be slightly more removed from the clubbing area and had better sea views. On return to the InterContinental we asked to cancel our booking and move hotel. I have to say that the staff in the IC are some of the best we have ever come across. They were more than happy to facilitate our request however offered us a chance to look at two other rooms in the hotel of the same standard but overlooking the pool. This made all the difference. The view over the pool is very nice and much more relaxing than those facing the back of the hotel. With the improved views and not really wanting to undertake the move to another hotel we agreed to stay at the IC.

Once settled into the IC you quickly realise that this is a hotel of a good standard. To mention again, the staff are exemplary and really make the experience. There are numerous restaurants within the hotel, the best of which we found were the Waterbiscuit (NOTE this is a great option for breakfast and much cheaper than the main hotel breakfast - the breakfasts are gourmet with a great menu including cold and cooked and comes to around 10 Euros per person including coffee, juice etc) and the outside restuarant on Level 7 (cant remember name). There are also lots of good restuarants surrounding the hotel so you are spoilt for choice - our favourite was Maltese Mama - check out the reviews on here. The rooms in the hotel are nice and clean and are kept that way by a good level of room cleaning; daily if you wish. There is a shower and bath in the en-suite. Some slight mould problems in the bathroom around the sink but this is really being picky and not overbearing. Balconies in all the rooms but make sure to ask for overlooking the pool.

The outdoor pool is really very nice and offers plenty of sun loungers and a bar and restaurant area. I enjoyed some early morning swims up here almost every day and was practically by myself most mornings (yes the sun was up!!). There is also an indoor pool although this is quite small and often full of young children. There is a sauna and steam room (free access) and spa (expensive) too.

You notice that once inside the hotel it is very quiet and peaceful and it's easy to forget that you are in a fairly built up area. Once we got accustomed to the area it's not too bad - can be interesting for people watching. Although there is no getting away from it being a noisy part of town it is well located for getting around, especially if you are using public transport - Malta's bus system operated by Arriva is very good and takes you nearly everywhere.

We chose to rent a car as there was four of us and did this through the rent a car place in the hotel - cheapest we could find and again very good service. **There is free parking in the backstreets near the hotel so you dont have to pay 9 Euros a day in the Car park** Seek out a bay with painted white lines and you are fine to park - avoid yellow and blue bays.

Overall we had an enjoyable stay at the IC and it's fair to say that it grows on you. Would I stay here again? Probably not for holiday purposes. The area is too built up for me. I would seek out the Radisson at Golden Sands which is in a beautiful (although remote) part of the island.
Would I stay at an IC again? Yes absolutely. The standards of their staff are very good and I enjoyed the stay. The IC at St Julians would be ideal for a business trip or indeed a short holiday break and is well-served by comfortable rooms, public transport, restaurants, days out and bars.

Stayed at this Hotel in October 2013 for 5 nights.
We had a lovely stay. The room was very comfortable and spacious and far exceeded our expectations. The Hotel has plenty of amenities for all ages. The rooms are very clean and the staff are very helpful and pleasant. Short walk to the hotels private beach where sunbeds and towels are provided free. There is also a bar on the beach which serves food and the staff there are also very pleasant and helpful.
Although the Hotel is very close to the busy nightlife once in the hotel you cant hear it. The rooms are soundproofed so again, once in your room you cant hear whats going on outside.
We booked in as bed and breakfast and found the breakfast catered for all needs and tastes.
There are a number of nice restaurants within an easy walk. The hotels restaurant on the beach front is well worth a visit.
Overall a relaxing and enjoyable stay.
