We have just had 4 nights in this very tired intercontinental. The location was horrible for us as it's in an area that is best regarded as partiesville. Everything you read about Paceville, where this hotel is located, is true. Full of 'gentlemans clubs' if you could call them that. Nothing but drunks and stag parties in strip clubs abound. The hotel is a long bus or very expensive (€20-€25) taxi ride from the lovely Valletta. We would definitely stay closer to town next time as it would be better value to pay more for the accommodation but less on travel. Tired hotel but the staff were beaut. Very friendly and helpful. We paid extra to upgrade to a superior room on arrival but still had red wine splatter (we think it was anyway!) all over the cupboard doors. The beds you could feel the springs through so not terribly comfortable either. All in all very disappointing. Definitely doesn't deserve the 5 star rating I think it has. Worst we have stayed in for quite awhile.

Plus :
- Comfortable rooms and beds
- Extremely friendly and helpful staff

Minus :
- Hotel starts wearing out. EG, non of the terrace doors was closing properly, meaning noise when windy and feeling of insecurity, fitness material a bit old
- Location (but like in most Malta) : surrounded by concrete, no nice views, noise outside because of airco adjacent buildings

An amazing experience from the minute we walked through the doors until we left. Even though the hotel is located in the very busy area of Malta no noise can be heard from your room. All the staff are very professional and efficient and nothing is too much trouble. The rooms and facillities at the hotel are second to none and if we were to come back to Malta we would definitely book here again. We booked into the Club Lounge which for us was well worth it as we enjoyed many a pre dinner drink here and enjoyed the view from the terrace.

The hotel is located at St. Julian which is the busier and more happening part of the Island. Night life in this area is active and the hotel is quiet despite this. View from most of the rooms is not anything to rave about. Hotel is well managed and the breakfast is fabulous. Room and the beds are very comfortable.
