The intercontinental is right in the heart of everything,it's a 2min walk to bars and eating places and a 5 min walk to the intercontinental private beac club.
The rooms are very clean, modern and spacious, the roof top pool is lovely with poolside service for drinks or food, all the waiting staff are brilliant,
Excellent Buffett breakfast serving cooked and continental.
Would gladly return and recommend.
Intercontinental if you reading this I have only one small complaint, Please get some different music for around the pool area as listening to the same music on repeat every day for 7 days drives you slowly mad! :)

We stayed on a 3night break for my birthday. The room was spacious and looked over the pool area. Our room was on the 11 floor and it was a long walk from the lift. The swimming pool area wasn't busy so no rush in the mornings which was great. Pool was nice and clean as were the toilets and showers. The pool bar staff were very friendly, food was excellent and reasonably priced. I must mention " Luis " (guest relations) he was so helpful and friendly. If you walk for 10 minuets you will find a lovely little marina with some great places to eat .We really didn't like the area the hotel was in but really enjoyed our stay at the hotel.

This hotel was recommended to us for a weeks holiday. An excellent hotel, the staff were superb, polite and always helpful. We had one or two problems which were perfectly sorted out for us,by an upgrade and use of the club lounge.
We hired a car which cost 10 euros a night for parking, including valet parking,as there is no where to park a pram let alone a car!!
The food was excellent in the hotel except for the paranga,a restaurant on the beach run by the hotel which we thought was hugely overpriced.

Excellent hotel but in my view in the wrong position.

Was a bit worried, having read other reviews that referred to the busy club scene near to the hotel, but in fact we didn't hear any external noise for our complete stay.

This is a very busy hotel, so has a bit of a 'buzz' about it, staff are exceptionally polite, helpful and well trained and really seemed to treat all their guests with great courtesy. We had a few issues but these were dealt with promptly and satisfactorily. The extra cost to upgrade to Club level is well worth it. The terrace attached to the Club lounge has great views and is a lovely place to spend the cocktail and canapé hour, or enjoy afternoon tea, with the added bonus that we got to chat to many of the other guests and it was all very convivial and pleasant.

Pool deck is enormous, with endless sun beds and, as well as having staff coming around the pool offering to get you refreshments, there is a nice cafe on site.

Buffet meals in the main restaurant were of good quality, with a different theme each night - and even music to match! Again, very attentive service from all the staff.

The hotel is also well positioned for the very cheap and plentiful public buses to and from Valletta, a city well worth visiting more than once I feel. Malta is a small island but there's lots to see and do and I would recommend both this hotel and also the island for an interesting and enjoyable stay.

Really can't rate this hotel or it's staff highly enough. We went for a family holiday for a 40th birthday and the hotel recognised this and sent a bottle of wine and chocolates to the room. Great restaurants our children loved Paranga where they could walk on the beach and the Maltese restaurant staff always ready to help and make any special requests that you may have. Be aware though the portions are very generous especially the children's meals.

Finally special thanks to David Bache for all his help and assistance he truly is a credit to the intercontinental Malta.

Thanks again for a special holiday and birthday!! Can't wait to return.

The hotel is very convenient located for clubs and nightlife places but also for those that prefer to spend the day sunbathing at the private beach !
we liked most the professional staff (but i'd suggest them to smile a little bit !) and the size of the rooms, the spa, the bathroom with separate shower and bathtub, the nice gardens and the balcony !
unfortunately the hotel lacks in some details that would make the difference for a proper 5 star !
first of all the housekeeping did not replace all the towels or bed linen even if we followed the instructions according to the hotel policy - you have to place them in the bathtub and leave a card on the bed to have your bed linen changed. So we had to call and have the room serviced properly. The big bath towels provided on our first day were not replaced even uppon request !
the automatic minibar is also a mess, since someone cannot even place a bottle of water bought outside without risking to get charged without reason ! There is a note that if the minibar will be emptied a charge od 30€ will be applied ! this could make your life a nightmare during the hot days of summer ! the cost of a bottle of water is 3€ from the minibar.
i'd also appreciate a power plug close to the bed !

We arrived here on 21st May and we were checked in at the Club Lounge.

The PROS :

FABULOUS STAFF at the lounge. They go out of the way to make your stay comfortable and give a very personal touch. The two ladies who checked us in were very courteous and so is all the other staff there.

The rooms are nice and big. Very spacious. The bathrooms are grand too.

The lounge serves a good breakfast. The tea and the evening service were great. The alcohol collection was nice. Canapés not to our taste , but satisfactory.

We loved the surprise of a champagne bottle and macarons in our rooms on our second day.

The private beach section is another plus point.

Now the CONS :

TERRIBLE TERRIBLE CHECKOUT
We had a terrible and long experience at the checkout in the lounge. We got an EXAGGERATED bill despite booking on the hotel's website. This computer/administration error was just the beginning , as we had to personally explain the ENTIRE bill to a lady staff member at the lounge. This was very embarassing as there were other guests in the lounge too. Never been in such an awkward situation before. After a while , a senior guests' relation manager came and sorted things out. But this entire process took more than half an hour.

Since it was my birthday on the 23rd , my parents decided to cut a small cake as a surprise for me. They called up to get an empty plate for the cake and a knife. You would be shocked to hear this but the person on line said that a SUPPLEMENTARY CHARGE OF 4 EUROS WOULD BE APPLICABLE. After some time , we were sent a plate and a knife , as "complimentary".

No water bottles in the room. We had to make a special request and then got a few to keep.

No charging points in the lounge next to the seating area.

A risky minibar , if you pick up any item for more than 15 seconds , you are charged.BEWARE.

LONGGG walk to the rooms. Lack of elevators.

CONCLUSION
Though I loved this hotel in totality , I would like that the hotel does buck up itself. It are fine points like these which make all the difference.

Hope to have a nice and a pleasant stay next time.
