Excellent hotel for young couples. Well located in the centre of the island, near Valetta to visit all Malta's attractions. Wide selection of restaurants and night life nearby. The hotel was clean, the staff were helpful and it even has its own sand beach (a rarity in Malta). We were in a standard room on level 9 so we weren't troubled at all by noise. Overall its expensive but worth the extra cost.

This hotel was very nice we paid a bit extra for a club room/ Club floor this was worth every penny and more, breakfast, 2 hrs of free drinks and canapés , soft drinks and coffee all day and afternoon tea, all free, and a better room! Like I say I will stay in this hotel chain just for ths alone!
The area was very disappointing very noisy lots of bars very noisy just outside the hotel, the bay street shopping sounded exciting but was not , pretty rubbish shops with a few designer ones thrown in, the rooms were lovely in the hotel and the pool on the roof was great,
The restaurants were tucked away in this hotel so didn't realy tempt us in? The private beech is good but pretty small and cramped, to be hoest I love Malta but would stay in a different area, it's to young clubby noisy, strip bars etc not very refined ,
We had some great days out to veletta and melia both fantastic,

Was dissapointed with this hotel. Claims to be a 5 star hotel but I would say 4 is being overly generous. The front desk is all very flashy and at the check in desk the staff member will try and sell you one of the hotels various lounges. For an extra 30 euros per day per person we were told we could use the lounge which included breakfast and various snacks through out the day and we would be able to help ourselves to free alcoholic beverages. There was no mention that the free alcoholic beverages would only be available between 5.30 until 7.30. I was gob smacked that it was more important to the employee to get a sale rather than explain the free bar was only available for 2 hours per day. I wanted to march down to the employee and tell him where to stick his lounge but it would've causesd an argument between my husband and I and I didn't want to spend an evening of hardly speaking when was suppose to be the highlight of my year. We paid for a superior room what a waste of time that was. The balcony we got never got any sunshine and was tiny compared to the other hotel rooms. The head board on our bed was cracked which the employees tried to hide by covering with pillows. The balcony door we had didn't even had a lock so initially we could not lock the door. Once it was reported however the maintenance repaired it very quickly I must say. Wish I had gone elsewhere.

Me and my partner Fabienne came to Malta for the last weekend of June. Malta is great in June. It was hot, but not too hot (we also went to Malta in 2006 in August, we stayed in Hilton). But this time, I enjoyed beaches close by & night life is fun! Good cocktails bars and cheap prices. The hotel beach club is very close and nice place to relax. Hotel staff ok. Room cleaned everyday of course. I had small issue with reception when arrived because we arrived early morning & room was not ready, but ok. We were happy with room and food was fresh. Herbal teas were not available for breakfast and we had to take coffee which was not great. Not sure if it was a Maltise way of serving it. If you like nightclubs and bars and cinema, hotel is good. If you like quiet time, maybe look for other places.

We had booked a panoramic room with access to the club lounge and on arrival we were escorted to the club lounge on the fifteenth floor where our check in was dealt with whilst we enjoyed a glass of complimentary wine. The room was large with a good bathroom and views overlooking the pools and out to the bay. Try to avoid rooms overlooking the street as the hotel is right in the middle of the main "drag" of bars and restaurants.

The club lounge is lovely with a large terrace for eating breakfast outside. Access also gives you afternoon tea and free drinks in the evening.

The stars of the stay, however, were the staff. Without exception and regardless of their role they were all incredibly polite and helpful. They turned a four-star rating into five stars.

I read many of the reviews for this hotel before booking a short break in June - seemed a mix bag. Admittedly the area was busy and built up but we knew this up front.
When we arrived we were offered a very reasonable priced upgrade which included a better room overlooking the swimming pool and use of the Club Lounge.
Both of these were most definitely the way forward. Rooms which do not overlook the pool would probably be lacking to be fair.
The Club Lounge was certainly the best option - wonderful staff who were incredibly attentive. To be able to sit on the 15th floor terrace and have a relaxed breakfast was a great start to the day. Afternoon tea was certainly a winner and the complimentary pre dinner drinks and canapes made a great start to the evening.
We found the staff everywhere really helpful and welcoming whether it was in the hotel, Club Lounge or on the private beach. The best part of the holiday though was discovering The Water Biscuit - we ate there twice and both times were delighted with the food and service so well worth a visit and at a reasonable price - particularly if you 'check in' on social media and get a 10% discount
Overall a good break but appreciate the built up area is not for all.
PS the gym was the most amazing gym we've seen with so much equipment and classes too

My partner and I spent four nights at the Intercontinental Malta and really enjoyed it as a base for exploration. Our room and bathroom were clean, comfortable and spacious and the hotel had excellent pool facilities to splash around in when the day became too hot to explore. The hotel staff were all incredibly friendly, saying hello and checking how our stay was going whenever the saw us- we were allowed to check in early hassle free with no extra cost- something we both really appreciated when tired from a very early start. The hotel is really well located for buses to the rest of Malta, a pleasant walk to Sliema and the surrounding bay and for numerous clubs and restaurants. The downside of this is that it can get a little crowded and noisy in the surrounding town in the evenings, but I actually thought that the room was really well sound proofed even though our balcony overlooked part of the strip and a bungee machine- when the doors were closed you didn't really notice the sound. We actually quite enjoyed sitting out people watching in the early hours- so this hotel is a good option for people watching!
