We've been there in Jan` 2014, and we loved it.

The staff is welcoming, and with full of energy and a will to serve you and to please you.
They were full of good and useful "tips" for traveling in Malta, tips which even saved our money.

During our staying, I told to the reception lady that my wife is having a birthday (that's was the reason for our vacation), and as we arrive to our room in the afternoon a bottle of Cava and a plate of chocolate with a personal greeting waited for us in your room.

We warmly recommend, and looking forward to come back.

My wife and I have just returned from a one week break in Malta staying at the Intercontinental from the 22nd July. We arrived very late in the evening and as soon as we checked in ventured outside to look for a restaurant. We were spoilt for choice as the hotel is very centrally situated and the place was buzzing! We later discovered the hotel also has some very good restaurants - our favourite was the Waterbiscuit and the one on the beach is also excellent. The rooftop pool and grill is also very good and there is also an indoor pool and Spa on the 5th floor with a very well equipped gym. The rooms are quite spacious with a good size bathroom. All in all we had an enjoyable stay at the IC and would certainly stay there again

We bought a spontaneous trip Malta. Chose this hotel due the recommendations. At the arrival we got upgraded to a room with lounge access- which was very nice. The room are cleans and big. The pool is a bit small for this amount of people, but overall it is ok. 100m down the private beach- very nice. Good breakfast. Excellent service. The only thing it is located in a night bust area with a lot of bars and clubs. If someone enjoys the nightlife it is the place to be! Highly recommended!

Our family just returned from a holiday in Malta staying at the InterContinental Malta from July 18th for 8 eight nights. We had the most wonderful time and I assure you this hotel and it's staff have a great deal to do with the success of our vacation. The staff at the InterContinental Malta are beyond professional they are lovely people! From the concierge who are extraordinary in their chosen profession, always seemed to do a little extra to help us out. This professionalism extends to all levels from the cleaning staff, restaurant staff, pool staff etc, each as gracious, friendly and helpful as the next.

Roof top pool is the perfect size and not very crowded, always chairs to be found and staff to assist in helping to find you a spot.

The Intercontinental Malta beach can be found just a short walk from the hotel and is lovely. Staff will again assist with both towels and finding you the perfect chair to lounge.

The restaurants at the InterContinental Malta are wonderful, we had the opportunity to dine at each of them and they are quite good. My favourite would be Paranga where you can dine seaside and enjoy fantastic fresh fish and Waterbiscuit which has amazing meals and deserts. Wonderful.

Finally I want to thank the entire staff at the InterContinental Malta for making our Malta Holiday the best vacation ever!!!

Much appreciated.
Colleen, Jim and Joshua Jacobs

me and my partner were out celebrating and spontaneously decided to book a room at about 11pm. I quickly checked booking.com to see if a room was available but didnt make a reservation as we were a few mins away. The very kind gentleman at reception checked us in, and after authorising my credit card told us that he was upgrading us. We found ourselves in the presidential suite. A fantastic way to continue our celebrations. This is my 3rd stay in the hotel and it's always been a pleasure.

Thank you so much for making our special night extra special.

Stayed at the IC 5th July till 18th and overall hotel was excellent. We booked the holiday, without using a tour operator due main u.k carriers limited to certain days and flight times. We booked with Air Malta and enjoyed a schedule flight including meals, soft drinks and hold luggage included. Air Malta also gave us a £50 discount for booking into IC, As i think they are business partner in some way. We arrived at midnight and were greeted into the lovely spacious cool lobby. Very helpfull friendly reception, and swift check-in . We had requested a high floor , triple room, overlooking pool , ( after reading other reviews ) . We were given room 905, very clean, seemed recently decorated, safe was easy to use for your valubles, and overlooking the lovely landscaped inner garden and terrace on floor 7 were we enjoyed a super al fresco breakfast only 2 floors below. Breakfast was approx £ 8 each per day. which we thought was quite reasonable as the choice was more than adequate with all the usual hot and cold offerings. We also chose B&B option so we could chill within the hotel and leisurely plan the days activities, without venturing into the hustle and bustle and heat, just outside the front of the hotel. I fully agree that it is busy once you set foot outside, but you do find super restaurants without a route march. The small marina next to the Portimaso Tower is worth a walk and there are some super seafood restaurants there.
Our room was well equipped, but we recommend reading small print on room services booklet, before opening or moving contents of minibar. Our son soon received the comp wi-fi on his i-pad,adequate but not that fast. I think there was an speedier upgrade which was chargeable if you needed to work whilst on holiday etc. Room service was almost compulsory each day and if you hadn't had the maids in for the usual daily clean, we had notes under the door and a call from reception asking if we needed our room servicing in the evening up to 9pm . The maids were available on each floor, most of the morning if you had run out of anything or needed more towels etc, both of which were routinely topped up or changed on the daily service. The indoor pool was a very refreshing start to the day, and was empty most days until about 7.30am. We didn't partake the fitness room, but it did look comprehensive if you were keen to "work out". The internal gardens were lovely and had lovely small rock pools, stocked with Coi Carpa and turtles.
Large pool depth starting at 8 inches going up to 4 foot on the 10th floor, with ample sunbeds throughut the day and with a lovely breeze most of our stay. The private beach was also welcome but you needed to be on it by 10am to secure a bed. Fresh sunbed towels were available at both pools on production of your towel card, which you were given with your room card at the beginning of your stay. Hotel reception can assist with excursions. We went on the 3 harbour morning boat cruise from Sliema and the Hop on Hop off bus tours around the island. Both worth doing and approx £15 each per trip. The local buses are quite easy to use with bus stop behind hotel and approx £ 1.25p each way to Sliema and same again onto Valetta. Approx 40 minute walk to Sliema if you like walking, mostly along a lovely sea front promenade. We got the bus one way and walked back. Lots of excursion info leaflets available in reception desk area. All the hotel restaurants looked inviting but we chose to eat out each night,as such a large choice within easy walking. Yes the surrounding area was busy and bustly, but the hotel is tranquil and relaxing. There is a " Tesco Express" sized and stocked supermarket close by with local beer approx 70p per can and cava at £3 also sandwiches for lunch etc. , i also tried the roof top shiesha bar across from the hotel with my grown up son, an interesting experience, i probably won't be repeating !!. but you might.
To conclude, our experience of the IC was a great one. We would recommend to anyone visiting St Julians Bay who wants a central hotel with excellent service and facilities, that is relaxing to be in, whilst exploring your way around Malta. The IC is a primarily business hotel, which is evident in the way it goes about its daily and nightly efficient way. This was our experience, but it is of course always good to look at others.
