“Fantastic hotel!!!!!”
Reviewed 13 August 2014 via mobile

We are just home from spending a week holidaying at this excellent hotel. We arrived quite late and therefore check in was fast and efficient with myuren. We were given the option to upgrade for an added cost which we accepted ( it is worth haggling a little for a reasonable price!!) it was worth every penny as upgrade included a better room with a pool and garden view, in room movies, and use of the magnificent club lounge. We were really pleased with the room. It was bright, spacious, clean, and airy with a big bathroom incl a bath and really good shower! Robes and slippers were provided and air conditioning was excellent. We also had a lovely gesture from the hotel management of a complimentary bottle of prosecco and chocolates being brought to our room as they were aware we were celebrating our anniversary! A lovely touch which we really appreciated!! Our room was cleaned and tidied to perfection each day.
The pool area is lovely and is kept clean and tidy. Loungers and umbrellas are plentiful and towels are provided so no need to pack them. Poolside bar is available to get drinks and snacks....... All excellent quality!
Yes the hotel is beside a busy club and bar scene however this area can be avoided by walking through st George's bay to get to Spinola and batula bay where there are many beautiful restaurants in a more peaceful and relaxing location. No noise can be heard from the hotel at all!!
We ate at the hotels beach restaurant one night which was a beautiful setting accompanied by wonderful food and cocktails! There is an adjoining beach cocktail bar for after dinner drinks. If u check in on Facebook you receive 10% discount.
What really made our holiday was the club lounge. The service was excellent and it was so relaxing and peaceful. Here we had our breakfast on the large terrace each morning, over looking the pool and view of the area. Afternoon tea is served between 3 - 5pm daily. This meant we did not have to go out for lunch as it was adequate for us as a light lunch. A large range of soft and hot drinks were available all day with pre dinner drinks and canapés served between 5:30 and 7:30. Such a wide range of drinks were on offer. Staff were wonderful in the lounge and were very pleasant and helpful. Canapés were slightly different each night and were all very tasty!
Overall we had a fabulous stay at the intercontinental. We have already recommended it to friends and family and will hopefully return again. Thank you to all the staff for helping to make our holiday so enjoyable.

It's our last day here at has been an excellent stay. First impressions upon arrival were above expectations, grand reception and all staff are beyond friendly, courteous and helpful. We arrived around midday and room wasn't available until approx 2.30pm. Our bags were taken by the concierge, placed in safe holding and I left my mobile number so they could call me when our room was ready. Which indeed they did, and on our return our bags were already placed in the room for us. Wedid have the ooption of upgrading our room (another €20 per night) which would have given us a pool view from the balcony and access to their films pacakage. Although as we had little intention of sitting on the balcony this was of no interest to us - and I did ask to see the room and they are exactly the same as the ones on the street side we were staying in anyway. The street side is quite noisy (pubs/clubs etc) although this had no bearing on the quality of the stay as the balcony doors are double glazed and very sound proof. Also the air con in the room is excellent, we had it on its lowest settting and reckon it was maintaining a comfortable 18-22 °C. The air con fan could be a little noisy at night, but you can switch this off and it has little bearing on the room temp as it's well insulated (keeping the heat out) and tiled floors to keep it nice and cool - just leave the air con on all day whilst you're out. The rest of the hotel is of very high standard, two pools, 1 indoor, depth only 3'6" so no diving! But perfect for relaxing in and doing lengths including a steam room and sauna. You get given each a card that can be exchanged for cards at the two pools and the beach club (hotel own private beach, although tiny so need to get down there early and very cramped!) The same with the pool (lido) on the roof, it can get busy so get down there early (opens at 9am). The indoor pool is relatively quiet, average of 4-6 people in there at any one time (and I was using this at least once everyday at various times). Breakfast is excellent wide range of fruit, international dishes plus good old English fry-up. Although get down there early (breakfast served until 10.30am) if you want the best, fresh pick and not the heated remains of the hotplate as it's all buffet /help yourself. All the restaurants within the complex are excellent, first night we eat in the Am fresco garden, excellent cuisine. The Panarga attached to the beach club, a fish restaurant, deserves a Michelin Star! Or if you fancy something lighter the bar next to the pool on the roof does excellent bar food and snacks as well.
A nice central location, 10 mins Taxi from Sliema, the big shopping district. Plus there is a small precinct opposite the hotel with various shops and high street restaurants, McDonald's, Grill and Steak bar, Hard Rock and the like.
Overall an enjoyable stay and if I come back to Malta this hotel will be at the top of the list of places to stay.

I am reviewing the beach club. Due to poor organisation we ended up nearly being accused of stealing beach towels and using the sun loungers without paying for them. An employee in a yellow shirt gave them to me but would not take my money, when we went to pay another employee in a yellow shirt was very rude to my wife suggesting we had tried to do someting untoward, his tone was very agressive and immediately wanted an argument. While we got an apology from the bar manager, this left a bad taste in our mouths.

We loved everything about our stay at the Intercontinental in Malta. The staff, the food options, the pool, the gym, the rooms.... it was all fabulous! We stayed for 3 nights in July, 2014 and were in the front part of the hotel, so our room was quite big and spacious. The room itself was clean and well equipped, loved the bathroom, bed was huge and comfortable and it was nice having a banana lounge on our balcony to relax on. The hotel facilities were awesome, the outdoor pool was a lovely escape to the hot Malta weather, although it was annoying how people "reserve" chairs by the pool with their towels, even though they don't actually use them!! There are signs up saying not to reserve chairs, but rude guests still do. So frustrating. I think this needs to be better policed by staff. So we tended to use the pool in the evenings when it was a little quieter and it was still lovely and warm. We used the gym which was well equipped but I think the Malta gym etiquette may be different from Australia as we found guys were wanting to share weights machines with us, rather than wait their turn (in Australia this never happens! You wait until someone is done, then use the machine!) The restaurants at the hotel were fantastic. We ate there 3 times and loved every single meal. We ate at the Waterbiscuit downstairs on the foyer level and also at Narciss upstairs by the pool twice. Good food for a good price. And finally the staff were always fantastic but there was one staff member who just seemed to go out of his way for us every time and that was a lovely Spanish guy called Luis. Any hotel would be lucky to have a concierge like him and I hope they keep hold of him for a long long time! The location of the hotel was in St Julians which is a nightclub/nightlife district. It didn't really bother us as inside the hotel is quite quite and secluded from the rest of the world. Malta is so small that anything is close by with a short taxi or bus ride. It's so hot during the day, the best way to get around is not by walking, but by taxi or bus anyway. Would totally recommend this hotel to others and if we are back in Malta I would definitely stay here again. Just loved it.

Stayed here previously so knew the area and amenities. The hotel is situated in the heart of the area and within walking distance of all the bars and restaurants the area has to offer. The hotel has both indoor and outdoor pools (outdoor being located on the roof) and also a number of restaurants to meet most tastes. The room was well appointed and clean and comfortable, we had a balcony facing into the central area which is way from the noisy Main Street. As the area is lively with many bars and clubs it will not be suited to those seeking a quiet retreat, but provided you are aware of this then it provides an excellent base to explore the area and the rest of what Malta has to offer. The staff are very polite and helpful and can assist with any travel/trip requirements you may have. The capital Valetta can easily be reached via the local bus service in 20/25 mins with regular buses running at very little cost. At this time a 7 day adult ticket is €6.50 for all routes unlimited on the island.

I've travelled to this hotel 3 times now.
Once just on business, and further two times combining business and with family.
I cannot fault the hotel in any way.
The attention to detail from the staff made my family feel at home and provided a wealth of fun, especially making cocktails with the kids.
The facilities are on par with the best hotels and very central for tourist activities.

My family (three of us) stayed at the hotel for a week from 31st July 2014, we had a great time and enjoyed thoroughly! Excellent staff attitudes, they were professional and very helpful to provide information!
Room facilities were fantastic with free internet connection. Delicious breakfast with lots of choices - we were specially provided with some halal food that we requested for. Breakfast time staff were very courteous and showed excellent attitudes, Drisstia, one of the staff at breakfast room on the 4th floor was specially very helpful, who helped us to choose halal food, many thanks to her. The hotel has lots of facilities including big size rooms, indoor & out door pools, a gym & a spa, a rooftop-garden with great features ( viewing at night was really beautiful) and a few restaurants. Our room was on the 8th floor with a balcony and we enjoyed viewing the scenery from the room. I must recommend this hotel to anyone! My daughter is so pleased staying at this hotel, in the future she wants to spend her honeymoon at this hotel after her wedding! Thanks to all member of staff and the hotel management.
