“Old style attention to detail and great service!”
Reviewed 26 August 2014

Spent 2 wonderful weeks at this hotel! From the moment we checked in we were impressed, the service is really amazing, on every level, pool staff , reception, concierge etc. Every request was dealt with within minutes in a super friendly professional way! The rooms are spacious, pool a pleasure , food at the pool bar, the beach restaurant and at breakfast excellent, and there were other restaurants in the hotel that we didn`t have the opportunity to try. The concierge service was really excellent, they organised taxis, booked restaurants etc all with a huge smile. The restaurant is really well situated for sightseeing, beaches, restaurants , nightlife etc. Felt sorry to leave because it was like home for 2 weeks! Thanks to all the staff that made our stay wonderful!

We stayed as a family of four for 10 nights, 2nd August - 12th August. Room was fantastic. Bath and separate shower cubicle. Modern, clean and very spacious. We had four young lads in the room opposite who loved to come home at 3.30am and kindly let us hear some very loud music. I called reception and it was dealt with immediately. As a good will gesture we were upgraded to the club lounge. Free soft drinks all day long, tea and sandwiches 3.00pm-5.00pm and free alcoholic drinks between 5.30pm and 7.30pm. This saved a small fortune for the remaining 9 days. Once I found the gym, I was very impressed with it. Huge gym with lots of machines and free weights. The swimming pool is on the top floor. Pool towels provided, same at the beach, Once you confirm that you are a guest at Intercontinental. We had originally booked a hire car but cancelled this once we found out about the 10 euros per day parking charge. To be honest, we didn't really need the car as the taxi to and from the airport is 20 euros and if you walk 150 metres up the hill and round to the left you will find bus stops on both sides of the road that take you to Valletta etc. A few regular Malta holiday makers that I spoke to had stayed in the Hilton which is a similar standard hotel. Both opinions were the same, Hilton although still central is in a nicer location but the rooms are much better at Intercontinental. We ate at the buffet restaurant once only and thought it was average. A big part of our holiday is heading out for an evening stroll and trying different restaurants. Paranga on the beach just 100 mts away was our favourite. It's been said already about the staff,, they were all 1st class, nothing too much trouble. Wi-fi modems in all rooms. You are allowed a small amount free each day. Being an avid scuba diver I had done the homework before we arrived in Malta. I had 3 days diving with Cresta. They are a 3 minute walk from hotel and are 1st class. best dive centre I have ever used. There you have it,, A classy hotel in central location,, hundreds of restaurants to choose from on your doorstep.. No need to hire a car.. 10 mins on bus to Sliema,, 25 mins to Valletta due to all the stops and busy traffic.. We really enjoyed our experience at this hotel. We were well looked after.

Stayed for 7 nights 2-9 August on arrival we were upgraded to Presidential Suite due to my husband’s Platinum Ambassador status. The suite was amazing! We encountered a problem with one of the TV’s which we reported, the staff could not have been more helpful in trying to fix it, it wasn’t really a major issue to us we were more thinking about someone after us trying to use it, we weren’t there to watch TV because it wasn’t fixed immediately when we booked Waterbiscuit for a meal that night we were informed the meal would be complimentary not necessary but much appreciated.
We ate at Pranga and Waterbiscuit several times during our stay in fact only eating outside these two hotel restaurants one night both restaurants are excellent. Pranga more for waterfront location although the food is good, the food at Waterbiscuit is just exquisite.
The best thing about Intercontinental Malta is the staff absolutely every member of staff you encounter always smiles and greets you from the moment you walk through the door from the lady servicing the room to the fantastic staff in the Executive Lounge. It feels a little unfair to single out some but Inna was brilliant with her smiling face every morning at breakfast, remembering our preferences and always there to help. Nicola, Angelic, Maggie and Laure also more than worthy of mention for their absolute perfect understanding of customer service and hospitality always helpful, always smiling always happy to converse. Every guest is made to feel extra special and absolutely nothing is too much for them.
Some comment on the streets outside I would not let you put this off once inside the hotel resort you have no idea what is outside and it’s not exactly Ayia Napa not that it bothers us anyway. I would fully recommend this hotel and upgrading to have access to the Exec lounge for the superb benefits this brings the breakfast is excellent, afternoon tea delightful and evening drinks and canapés on the beautiful terrace the most perfect start to every evening .
This was our second visit here and we are now booking our third we shall see you again very soon.

After our fantastic experience with Intercontinental Malta in 2013 we decided in 2014 to again spend a holiday in this hotel.
And this was not disappointing. On the contrary, it was superb. In fact nothing negative. Spacious family room, good service, hygienic and very helpful and pleasant staff. Luckily Robert was there again, as well as James and their colleague Christopher and great receptionists.
We enjoyed the hotel restaurants Paranga, Al Fresco and Waterbiscuit.
Another highlight: we were invited to management drinks (IHG Reception) and had a very nice conversation with Mr. Peter Kriznar, Guest Experience Manager, meanwhile enjoying (molecular) cocktails.
Malta can be proud of such a hotel!
Again: we will be back

Our first stay in Malta and we must give the Intercontinental St. Julian's top marks! A very well appointed hotel which was spotless. Every member of staff was polite, helpful and genuinely appeared to be pleased to work there....... UK hotels take note!! Highly recommended for couples or families.

The best attribute of the hotel is the fitness center. In my opinion one of the best i've seen so far within a hotel in Europe in terms of size and machines.
The beach is at a walking distance but usually crowded.
The rooms are clean and large but they were trying to give us a room for handicapped people with what we thought was a king bed for two (but normally is just for one person). We complained and they gave us another room more comfortable on the 12th floor.
We didn't try breakfast but you can eat it in the courtyard and it look quite decent.
Staff is attentive and ready to help.
In terms of quality:price i would say it is slightly overpricey and they request a large deposit (120 euros + the price of the room beforehand).
