We stayed at this hotel september 2012 for a business meeting and slept here for 4 nights. Staff was very friendly and helpfull; good rooms, nice roof top swimming pool with bar and snack service. Hotel with harbourview close to soem very nice restaurants. Busstop in front of the hotel!! You don't need taxi's to travel!! Hotel is not cheap, but worth every penny.

Room Tip: Rooms on front side have harbour view, at the back you look on the parking lot......

This hotel was perfect for me and my husband. It was close enough to walk into the Bay where there are many restaurants and bars, but far enough to avoid the younger crowds and the nightlife in Paceville which was not what we were after.

This hotel is elegant and stylish, it really is beautiful and has amazing facilities. The indoor pool and spa were amazing, the massages were very relaxing and the pool is beautiful and serene. The gym is large and has alot of equipment, we never needed to queue for anything and often were the only ones in there.

The rooms were very large, possibly the biggest bed I've had in a hotel! They were well decorated and had modern and updated decor/facilities.
The lovely staff prepared a freshly made cake for us as we visited the hotel on our anniversary, this was a lovely touch as we were not expecting it at all...we only mentioned in passing that it was our anniversary and it was nice that they paid attention and went out of their way to ensure we had an enjoyable stay.

The Executive Lounge was quite nice, but we didn't spend much time here as it is not open until late, so you can only really have a pre-dinner drink, at which point you don't really want/need the snacks available anyway. It's nice if you have the exec room, but don't book an exec room just for access to this lounge.

The hotel have a travel centre on the lower ground floor, pre-book the hop-on/hop-off bus tour as this is a great way to visit and enjoy the entire island at a fraction of the cost of a private tour. The buses are regular and frequent, and you're never waiting longer than 5 to 10 minutes at each stop. It really was the ideal way to see the island without worrying about driving abroad (although the Maltese people are lovely, the drivers can be quite aggressive! be careful if you're hiring a car)

Room Tip: Upgrade to a suite, all the rooms are lovely even if you don't, but it's nice to have the ex...

We held our daughter's third birthday party in the beautiful Pisces Hall and couldn't be happier with the service we received. In particular Cristina (Events Co-ordinator) and Danjuma, our assistant on the day, were marvellous. The food was of a very good quality and the hall was set out just as we wished - couldn't fault it and would definitely host a party there again.

this was the second trip my husband and i have taken to Malta. on the first trip we stayed at a resort with a lot of grounds and properties on location. le meridien is more of a "city central" hotel and we enjoyed it very much. i had read a lot of reviews, good and bad, but one comment is worth mentioning -- the lifts are terrible. at peak times, you have to wait a long time and once a lift arrives it is completely full. the rooms are large, especially the bathroom, if slightly outdated. the pool is small but we always found sun beds. the location is terrific, but the new Arriva bus system is HORRIBLE. breakfast was included in our rate, but i would not have paid extra for it. the staff was very friendly and helpful. we ended up hiring a car for the last 3 days -- parking was free !!

Room Tip: we had a lower floor, non-seaview smoking ( ick ) room and it was excellent. you can always get a s...

Great location and we had a great sea view from our balcony, however the rooms at the other side of the hotel overlooked the car park, so worth paying the extra for a sea view in my opinion. The staff were all very helpful and extremely friendly and the food at breakfast was amazing, however with breakfast costing 17euros per person a day there was now way we would have eaten at the hotel had it not been included in the room price. Our room was a Junior suite and was large enough to accomodate My wife and I and 10 year old son with ease, with my son sleeping on the sofa bed. The mattress on the double bed was a bit hard for my liking but the bed itself was massive. Please be aware that the sheets in the room do not get changed unless you leave a card on the bed, we were unaware of this as the card had been buried in amongst a mountain of hotel advertising leaflets that we didn't bother to read and consequently had to ask at reception why our sheets were not being changed. The TV in the room only had limited channels in english (mostly news) and movies etc were all pay per view. The mini bar was tiny but well stocked, however it was fitted with a sensor and every time an item from the fridge was picked up it was automaticlly added to your room bill, even if you replaced the item unopened! We checked our bill daily and found endless items listed that we had not consumed. The staff at reception were obviously used to this sort of thing because the queried items were deducted from the bill with no argument. We were very disappointed with the lack of facilities for children as one of the main reasons for booking this particular hotel was the fact that it advertised a kids club which we found out no longer exists upon our arrival. To summarise, this is a nice hotel in a great location with great staff who are both very helpful and friendly. However, I think to make this hotel a great hotel, then some of the hotel policies need changing. Get rid of the sensors in the mini-bar, change the sheets twice a week without being requested to do so, open up the kids club (as was advertised) and put a few more complimentary channels on the TV.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view, it's worth paying a little bit extra!

Breakfast was always great (thank you to Anthoney the British chef) he made the best omelettes and fried eggs and was ever so polite. Not great with children as they always placed us at the back so we had to walk back and forth alot, me and my husband had to take it in turns as we couldn't leave the children where we couldn't see them.

The lifts were a nightmare and ever so frustrating. You had to wait for a very long time and when they came, they were always full during peak times.

The curtains had tiny holes in them so would let some light through. We requested the beds sheets to be changed everyday, but they weren't. (My son stained the sheets with a little chocolate and slept in the same sheets for the last 3 days). The towels were not changed everyday - even upon request and small things such as the shower caps and ear buds were not replaced.

On the last day our flight was very early so we requested for a breakfast box as we had paid for our breakfast and they gave us fruit and yogurt with a slice of cake with no spoons. We left the boxes with the driver. We expected more as the daily breakfast was so grand.

The hotel itself is located in an excellent place, close to everything.. The spa was lovey as were the pools. Service is very slow in the restraunts

Not advisable to go to the Fireworks display, Gozo and comino cruise with small children. Waste of time and money.. On all the excursions, the tour guide arrived late and showed no remorse and consideration that you are travelling with little ones. (On the fireworks display night we arrived home at 2am, although promised to be back by 12)

Popeye village and the meddeteranien are highly recommended for families with young children.

Try Shakinas, a 2 minute walk from the hotel to the left (amazing Indian and Lebanese food).

Free wifi in the reception which was nice.

Hope this helps, we would definitely go back to Malta, but think we would try another hotel next time.

Room Tip: The view nit facing the car park

The Le Meridien Hotel is a five star hotel nicely located right at Balluta Bay. We stayed there for a week in August and had a deluxe room with sea view. The reason why I chose this particular headline for my review is, that Le Meridien has everything in place to be a great hotel but lacks a bit the final fragments it needs to be a great Hotel....

The Meridien has got for example a very nice pool on its roof on the 12th floor, it has very attentive and polite staff no matter in which part of the hotel they are working, be it breakfast or dinner or at reception or the concierge. It has a great Spa Area with high quality treatments (as I was told by my girlfriend). The rooms are spacious, the bed ist great, the wifi works fine, there are coffee and tea making facilities in the room and if you have a room with sea view you can look right at the boats and yachts of Balluta Bay. We booked half-board and had very tasty food for breakfast as well as dinner. There were different themed dinners for each day of the week and we enjoyed each one of them....

The final fragments missing to become a great hotel can be noticed, when looking at details. The spa pool for example, looks great but the changing room makes you feel you're in the changing room of a low-budget gym. The gym of the Le Meridien itself has all the equipment you need for a proper workout, but a lot of the equipment is dated and some are in need of repair. Occassionally throughout the hotel there were broken parts of walls, for example on the 5th floor or at the breakfast area. In one of our bathrobes were holes and sometimes there was a strange smell on the 5th floor.

Please don't get me wrong, we still enjoyed our stay at Le Meridien a lot, and if being asked, I would definitely recommend this hotel!! I just think, if the hotel could work on the last details, it could be an absolutely wonderful and great hotel.....

Room Tip: The more expensive rooms with sea views are worth the extra money.
