Malta is one of those places where people make you feel at home and completely at ease.
This was my second visit ti the country and my second stay at Le Meridien.
This is the one to stay in once you arrive to Malta. The staff is just amazing and if you can take the time to chat to them you will immediately be part of the Le Merifien family.
As a solo traveler this is a major plus in a hotel for me. I really miss them all, specialy the wondeful Kudeta Club team ( ground floor/terrace bar) and Nikos at the front office. Angela, the hotel manager is a superb host.
Take the time to experience the Spa and indulgence yourself with a wonderful Maltese food buffet at the Sirocco( second level). The room's view is to die for with the small bay , the fishermen boats leaving room for your imagination.
Follow the concierge team sugestions and I am suere you will always find something useful to do during your stay in Malta.
Le Meridien is really worthy as you get good services for the kind of money you pay.
I am really looking forward for staying there again.

Recently returned from the le meridien, beautiful location, met and checked in quickly on arrival, rooms lovely beautiful sea view, dont get any sun after 10.30 though , rooms at back appear quieter but dont have the views but have the sun from mid morning. Hotel prices very expensive (current Euro exchange) so take advantage of happy hour 6-7pm except Weds but London Bar and Tikya Bar nearby a lot cheaper make equally good cocktails. On some nights certain bars in the hotel were closed to guests due to private functions which took presedence over guests who were on holiday who were left to be shunted to a pool bar and given happy hour cocktails in plastic cups. Tasks also such as cutting palm trees around a sunbathing area was taking place at 10.30 am when guests wanted to use facilities not a good impression as guests reqested to wait until this task was completed. Reception staff were friendly but not prompt to rectify any problems expressed. Lifts were well and truly a nightmare. Watch the mini bar you only need to look at it and it is recorded on your room bill. The hotel in general seems to be running on a 'shoe string. Improved organisation could make this hotel so much better.

Good: Great spacious rooms, very clean. Lovely rooftop pool, plenty of sun loungers available. Great spa at reasonable prices. Good location, within a few minutes walking distance to plenty of restaurants and bars. Good bus service stopping right outside the hotel.

Bad: Lifts were a nightmare!!!! you could be waiting 10 mins or more for a lift to come to your floor!
Housekeeping wake you up each morning before 8 am to clean the room which is a bit of a pain! Also, when cleaning each room they turn on the tv and play music at full volume which is a nightmare if you are in the room next door!
Staff at reception and concierge were not particularly friendly. Bar staff were quite nice however.
Food and drinks at the hotel were quite expensive. No wi fi and the internet in the business centre was quite expensive at the hotel.
We are spg gold members and we were certainly not treated like preferred guests. Upon arrival we were ignored by the receptionist and eventually when checked in our room wasnt ready (which was fine) until we were ignored by the concierge who was not interested in taking our bags and attended the people behind us in the queue before us.
Overall its a nice hotel and has potential!

Beautiful hotel, great we could get a sunbed at 11am in the morning and didnt have to be up at dawn to reserve it. 12th floor rooftop pool a little small but adequate. Prices pretty steep for lunch tho at the bar but thats no thanks to the Euro. Bedrooms lovely and having the separate toilet was good if not unusual. Our room looked onto the car park but we only were in Malta to sunbathe, sightsee and sleep so it was no big deal, we did ask how much to upgrade to sea view and it was 50 euros per day, needless to say we didnt upgrade. The Barracuda restaurant is lovely if expensive but treat yourself its worth it. Buses plentiful, crazy drivers, only 47 cents to anywhere on the island. Took a boat trip with the hotel through HERA cruises, went to Comino - Blue Lagoon, was very disappointed that it didnt berth closer to the lagoon so we had to swim in waters 20ft deep which is ok if you are an ok swimmer, think other people disappointed also. Lunch on board was included and ok not great. Spa in hotel nice but they do try to push other products onto you but just say no. Indoor pool very nice. However visit Malta its worth it, very pretty, nice esplanade, lovely churches etc. I would definately return.

My wife and I stayed at le Meridien 12th-26th may, we stayed there the same time last year. We always book an executive room which gives access to the exec lounge. Ideal for free soft drinks throughout the day, and god quality premium brand drinks fro 4-7pm.Noticed on this visit slight cutbacks in staff numbers, and a slight dip in standards. Don't get me wrong, the hotel is still clean and friendly, food is good ( only stayed on B&B basis). Bar prices have took a increase, coupled with very poor exchange rate on the pound, means unless you're on expenses very difficult to drink in the hotel..hence the advantage of the execuitve lounge.
We took the opportunity to visit the Excelsior Grande in Valletta, managed to have a tour of the hotel, including 3 rooms, basic, executive and junior suite.Hotel standards higher than Meridien, rooms slightly smaller, gym not as good, views not as good, overall feel much more upmarket. Big down side is the Excelsior's location, loads and loads of steep steps to get up to Valletta, or down to ferry landing. Plus night life in Valletta practically non-existent after 9pm. therefore..forced to pay hotel prices..which are very much the same as Le Meridien.
Overall impression, for friendly service, clean hotel, and great location, go to Le meridien. For plush carpets, and the desire to dress up for dinner, and enjoy a pianist with your pre-dinner drinks ...go to the Excelsior Grande

The Meridien was a pleasant surprise. I had the benefit of staying in two hotels in St Julians during my stay, as part of my trip was on business, so was able to compare.

Plus points : extremely spacious room, everything brand new (and worked).
Facilities in room such as iron and tea/coffee. Balcony with table/chairs.

Swimming pool (but I didnt get the chance to use it)

The rates that I have seen for this hotel are quite reasonable.

Make sure you get a front view room as many are at the back overlooking the carpark

Only downside for me was that it was slightly out of the centre of St Julians, but even then not too far, 10 minutes walk to the main stretch of restaurants.

Good, easy, cheap bus service from the front of the hotel to Sliema.

I would stay here again

We stayed a week in Le Meridien, had found a good package deal with Panorama.
Pretty much all of the reviews on Tripadvisor at the time of booking were spot on: the hotel is perfectly comfortable, perfectly clean, kind of anonymous in a way.
We got a lovely corner room with small balcony, looking onto the bay, sparkling wine & petit fours awaiting us. Nice to have the ice machine practically outside the door! The air con worked perfectly, thank God, Malta is quite hot in September.
The breakfast offering is quite as vast as mentioned by other reviewers, yes the meat does taste different than home, but then, you're not at home.
I had a facial in the Spa and if I could remember the name of the therapist that treated me, she would receive the only black mark of my review. She pinched non existent black heads on my face! Also she was fairly pushy on trying to sell the (lovely) Elemis products. Prices pretty much as you would pay here.
The location really is the best thing, though, you just step out the door and you're in the middle of everything, two wonderfu restaurants maybe 100m up the road, particular mention for Piccolo Padre, lovely food, great price, spectacular view.
The only real flaw is the Lifts, they do indeed take forever, so perhaps not the easiest choice for anyone with mobility difficulties, as main entrance is up a steep -ish ramp too.
We would definitely go back, though. We love Malta, and this hotel is great.
