We recently spent 7 nights at the hotel over Xmas as part of a B&B package tour. Having read the previous reviews we were a little concerned about elevators and construction. However, the hotel had obviously picked up on the problems with the elevators as we never waited more than 15 seconds for one. When checking in I asked for a room away from the next door construction and was given a room well away from any potential noise. The rooms were large, modern and spacious, very clean and well maintained each day. The facilities at the hotel are great and the food was superb with a fantastic choice. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and worked quite late to rectify problems on xmas eve when the Internet server expired and customers wanted to send greetings to friends and family. The hotel location is excellent with just a Euro 0.47 bus ride stop to almost anywhere located right in front of the hotel. We really enjoyed our stay and will recommend the hotel to others.

It is round this time of year that we bag ourselves a Thomson last minute bargain and The Meridien was an excellent choice for a weeks b and b, plus flights, transfers, meals on plane etc for £500 for 2. At that price we could afford to upgrade to the Executive floor which included a great sea-view with balcony and complimentary drinks and snacks during the day. Normally this is 35 euros per room per night but they gave us it for 30 euros per night as they had started closing the room up earlier in the evening. We also bartered the late check out down to 40 euros until 7 pm which was a great addition with our late flight home.

Overall, we really did feel that the rating was more 4 star than 5 star as there were a few niggly things that let it down. Our room was comfortable, with great bed and pillows but the lighting was terrible. You could barely see to read your book at night, or even during the day come to that - and there was no proper light on the balcony. The corner shaped bath looked great and was a nice size but it was a bit of a nightmare to get in and out of. No grab rails, and you had to turn round to kneeling and then grab the towel rail. But it was a nice modern bathroom with a good shower. I think a 5 star hotel should also have a bidet. The lighting was also bad for putting on make up and drying your hair, clearly not designed by a woman.

Breakfast was very good, the staff were lovely and friendly, the lounge areas were nice, the location was perfect really. You can get buses just outside the hotel, or if you hire a car for a few days as we did, the car parking under the hotel is safe and complimentary. The best restaurants nearby were Pepperoncino, Piccolo Pedro (?) near The Barracuda (which looked a bit too knobby for us) The Papperazzi which looks great inside but the food doesn't quite match, and for a very reasonable local meal, Tal Kazin just over the bridge at Spinola bay next to Zest.

The hotel is in the heart of a turistic area and with a breathe taking view of Balluta bay from the rooms . We had Invited some Guest to have Sunday lunch with us and the food was superb, with chefs replenishing the food all the time. The superviser on duty and her team served us with great attentiveness. My guest where happy especially with the Dessert area ,
I had to spend some time in the gym to burn some calories. The best part was the SPA it's the best place where you can renew your self with scents of aroma oils and calming music
Definitely a place to be.

We had a lovely stay at this hotel. Crisp cotton bed-linen, large bed, clean spacious room, great shower and wonderful spa treatments. Others have complained in earlier reviews of the long wait for a lift (elevator). We had no such problems. The longest we waited was about 1 minute and most of the time less than 30 seconds. So, either they have sorted the problem or we were there at a less busy time. There is noise from the building site next door, but since we were out most of the day, it wasn't a problem. I note others have also complained of a smelly bathroom. It is true they are a bit whiffy, but I think this is a drains problem on the whole island and not just this particular hotel. One minor issue for us was that the beds were a bit too firm. Breakfast was an absolute delight. I am now dieting to lose the excess gained at breakfast-time! Overall I would recommend this hotel.

I was lucky to find a special offer to Le Meridien and spent a wonderful week there. I booked B & B as I always like to enjoy sampling many of the restaurnats that malta has to offer. So was delighted to find the hotel so conveniently situated, right in the middle of Baluta Bay within walking distance of more bars and restaurants than i can possibly sample in one week.

The hotel was unpolished as a 5* but perfectly acceptable accommodation (clean) as a 4* hotel, with pleasant, friendly staff. The Lotus Spa is excellent and offers some wonderful treatments at affordable prices. I was also delighted to be able to learn to scub dive with Neptunesdiving, a PADI Gold Star dive school right on the waters edge below the hotel. The weather was great with sea temperatures of +20C and the professional dive staff at Neptunes helped me overcome any trepidations and enjoy some of the wonderful clear underwater life of Malta. Thank you Meridien and Neptunes!
