We have just returned from a weeks stay at the totally gorgeous Hotel Juliani. We cannot praise the staff there enough - and send very special thanks to Caroline and Albert on reception for all their kindness, warmth and help - our welcome to the hotel was the best we have ever had. To Kenny for such a warm smile every morning at breakfast and to Jason and Gaby behind the bar - always waiting with a refreshing Kinnie or a Cisk - and of course a delicious cake! The room we had was very spacious and we had a terrace at the back with sun loungers and a partial view of Spinola Bay at the front, the style is relaxed and contemporary and the rooms provide all you could wish for (we had room 805). The hotel is ideally located for the buses around the island, and for walking to Sliema around the coast. We did not eat at the Zest restaurant in the hotel, as there are just so many lovely restaurants in the area to choose from (a week's holiday is not enough!). The bar area is great for watching the world go by, and the lovely breakfast is also served here.....Whoever employs the staff for this hotel really knows what they are doing, and also what people staying in hotels want - quiet, calm efficiency and a warm welcome morning, noon or night. We really loved it, and miss it - not just all the little well-thought out luxuries, but all the people who made this holiday really special for us, THANK YOU ALL.

Room Tip: ask for a view of Spinola Bay

I am another very satisfied guest just returned from Hotel Juliani. I did pay the extra for a front facing room which was a lovely bonus although traffic noise may be an issue for some, we also took TA advice and requested a kettle and cups!. Like many others on this site, I can only congratulate the staff on their friendly and helpful manner to each and every guest - especially our 'cleaner' who was a real 'gem'. The location of the Juliani is another bonus as everything in St Julians is within very easy reach - supermarket, bus stops, restaurants. We did visit the other major hotels in the resort which made us even more satisfied with the Juliani. The Hilton is beautiful, especially with the Portomaso Marina area but it is a huge hotel offering many facilities which we would never have used. The Maltese people are the most gentle race of people we have ever met and it was always a pleasure to talk to them or be served by them.
During our 7 nights we ate in - Paparazzi, Parappett (3 times), Zest , Gululu and Maltese Mama. All meals were excellent with huge portions. There is such a wide choice of restaurants in close proximity it can be hard to decide, all at much more reasonable prices for food and drink than UK. Parapett and Maltese Mama were our favourite.
The only slight dislike we had of the hotel was the small pool area on the roof - just not enough room for the required number of sunbeds for guests. It was great to borrow the laptop from reception staff whenever we needed it.
Thank you Hotel Juliani!

this time was my second stay at the Hotel Juliani & it was even better than the last time although already that first time was very nice indeed.
I had a very nice room with plenty of space in & around my bed & unbelieveably quiet too.
(I had a night a slept nearly 9 hours in a row WITHOUT having too much to drink before only which does not happen at home even),
because it's so quiet & relaxing there.
the same goes for the fine pool area with room enough to stretch & a very clear water in the pool. And always the service !The Hotel staff is exceptionally friendly, helpful & effectiv.
(starting with the ladies at the recption to the ladies who tidy up the rooms perfectly.)
So I intend to go to Malta probably in October & of course I will stay in the Hotel Juliani !

regular readers of my blog or reports via TA will know that I am being extra frugal with points this year, this was a hard one to call as there was little to actually complain about but it didn't ring many bells with us for the money spent. I think it is probably one of the best around particularly if you want this attractive and convenient location with everything from pubs to restaurants a plenty within yards. Friendly staff, efficient, clean. Shame we never knew about the tea / coffeee making on request, first time I've know that, still once in Maltese hotels it cost extra to have an old telly in your room. Mind you no BBC world service seemed strange. We had a rear facing room as I knew the location and worried about street and traffic noise. In the end it was other guests who gave us a sleepless night, very much an exception as nearly everyone we met there was so pleasant. The restaurant seemed a mish mash of cuisines, not west not east, not my taste. The room was small for the cost but very comfortable. Beakfasts were very good except on busy weekdays with lots of business guests up at the same time. Perhaps some form of bar service at the pool would have been nice, probably did this in high summer I suspect.

Room Tip: front rooms have spectacular views

We spent a week in Malta and if it wasn't for the gorgeous Hotel Juliani we probally wouldn't have left with such fond memories. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The rooms, although not cheap were very good value for money considering the location and quality of the finishes. It certainly rivals any other boutique hotel I have ever stayed in. I also highly recommend the hotels main restaurant for lovely Japanese fusion. The road noise outside was quite high, but thankfully we had a room close to to the top so it didnt matter, but be careful if you are sensitive to noise.

Absolutely wonderful hotel!

Stayed here for 2 weeks last September. Fabien was prompt in dealing with our requests. Booked a junior suite with a fab view of Spinola Bay, perfect for having a relaxing drink watching the world go by. The room was spotless, clean towels every day, added touch of toiletries in the bathroom. Room service superb...and if you like your early cup of tea just ask for tea making facilities, a tray with kettle and cups is supplied instantly.
The staff were polite, courteous and ready to please. Jason is very helpful at breakfast. We didn't use the Zest restaurant, but breakfast was excellent, varied choice of all hot and cold food.
Perfect location for buses to all over the island. An experience in itself. This was our 5th trip to Malta, first time in this hotel. We won't be looking for another one! We will be back in August for our honeymoon...can't wait!

Room Tip: Upgrade to suite for best sea views

Hotel Juliani, a 4 star hotel, is Malta's small design boutique hotel enviably located in the heart of Spinola Bay, St Julian's. Today it remains a family-run establishment committed to ensuring you feel at home and well looked after. Each hotel room offers excellent facilities, fresh Mediterranean decor and plenty of space.
