“Great Location + Great Value = Great Hotel!!”
Reviewed 24 July 2011

We stayed here for the first 5 days of a one week holiday. We chose this hotel on the basis of its Trip Advisor reviews and we weren't disappointed.

We had a "Deluxe Sea View" room, and were delighted with it. The room wasn't huge but was plenty big enough for our purpose. It was tastefully decorated and furnished with a decent flat screen TV and a DVD player. The bathroom was nice, with a Jacuzzi bath and decent water pressure. But aside from all the positive stuff above, the balcony facing out over Spinola bay was stunning, and a beautiful place to have a drink in the evening once it had cooled down!!

The location is undoubtedly the nicest location on the island (we drove around the entire island during the week). It's not as built up as some of the other tourist areas, contains a number of the top restaurants in Malta, a number of lively bars/clubs, mcdonalds, and stops for the malta bus tour companies and multiple local bus routes.

The hotel also has a roof-top pool which was beautiful to just relax by the pool reading a book, having a beer or to take a dip. Drinks were very reasonably priced!!

I had a few minor issues with my stay:
1) Any beers we ordered were at best lukewarm.
2) The minibar in the room barely worked at all, so beers out of this were also warm.
3) The car parking is limited and extremely tight

On the whole, i found this hotel to be of a very high standard, very reasonable cost for the quality!! I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone planning a trip to Malta!! I'll definitely stay in this hotel again if i'm ever back in Malta!

Room Tip: Get a sea-view room. Well worth the extra cost!

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Hotel Juliani for five nights from the 17th of July until the 22nd of July 2011. We were both very impressed by the overall standard of the hotel, its staff and its general cleanliness.

St Julians is a busy area, particularly around Spinola Bay, and I particularly liked the fact that as soon as we walked through the front doors to the hotel then everything seems much calmer and quieter. The staff were all friendly and helpful, particularly those on the front desk. They were not always able to answer all my questions (particularly on bus routes, but that was because they had only just recently changed), though overall they were pleasant and were able to point us in the right direction.

We stayed in room 604 which had a partial sea view and balcony, which I was pleased about. The room was clean and was tidied every day while we were out. The only downside was a rather unpleasant ingrained stain in the bath - but this did not detract much from the experience. My girlfriend enjoyed using the swimming pool which was just the right temperature for a swim, particularly when the weather was as hot as 35 degrees celsius, and there were always enough sun loungers available.

The hotel is well located for the restaurants in St. Julian and is on the main bus routes (numbers 11,12,13) to Valletta. However, (and this is no fault of the hotel) the bus company changed the routes at the beginning of July and now it is a much more lengthy process to get to places other than Valletta and Sliema. For example, it took us an hour and a half to get to the Airport on our final day, and the bus was twenty minutes late turning up (that was at 8:30am). To get to the Gozo Ferry port we took the number 11 bus (going the other way to Valletta) and that took almost two hours! Likewise, the 202 to Mdina/Rabat took a very long time. Before we attempted these journeys then we were warned that doing so was "not advisable" by one of the receptionists. While I found that slightly disconcerting at first, she was ultimately right. The hotel no longer seems to be so well located for bus connections due to the new timetable - although these may change again in future so be warned!

We ate at the restaurant Zest and Cafe Juliani located in the hotel. I found both to be expensive for what they were, though the setting and staff were pleasant enough.

Other things, not in any particular order, which we liked were the good lifts, the sound proofed, quiet rooms which led to an excellent few nights sleep and the décor which was subtle and functional.

We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend the hotel. It is probably a little expensive when compared with other hotels on the island, but the service and the lack of problems we thought meant it was worth it.

Room Tip: Try to go for a seaview if you plan to spend time in the hotel

Me and my friend stayed at the Hotel Juliani for a long weekend, from start to finish the service provided was beyond excellent! When we first arrived we were disappointed that the twin room we had booked was actually a double with a camp bed. After a call to reception they explained they were fully booked and offered to move us in 2 days time, a little annoying but as everything was good we didn't let this bother us. The next day while lazing around the beautiful rooftop pool we had a call from reception advising us that a twin room was now free and would we like to move into it. The room was stunning, better than the first one and the private balcony topped it off!
The rooftop pool provided not only stunning views of the bay but a perfect place to chill out and sunbathe. Cocktails and food well priced and tasty which is a bonus.
I was so impressed with my hotel that I'm planning to return in September, yes its might be on the pricey side but you definitely get value for money!

Let's start from what we liked. The location is very good: lots of restaurants, Paceville is near, nice sea, bus stop is right next to hotel entrance. Sea view room - what else to say?) Very good restaurant inside the hotel - Zest. The other two very good restaurants that you sould try are Barracuda which is relatiely not far from hotel and Ix Xlukkajr which is at Marsaxlokk town on the east side of the island. Free wifi and laptop if you didn't take yours. Friendly staff specially at front desk.
What we didn't like. There were some bleach spots on the carpet in our room that was kind of surprisng to see in boutique hotel. Many times our shower and toilet items were not refilled on time that was also surprising to see in boutique hotel. Pretty weird booking through internet, we stayed there for two weeks but didn't qualify for "Beat the crounch" special offer, so we payed for trip to Airport. On the other hand we stayed in Thailand with room price almost 10 (ten!) times less and we'd got free trip from/to airport. Small things, but they have great impact on hotel image espeially if it's boutique hotel.
Overall the hotel is overpriced and there are lots of chepaer options around.
But anyway Malta is worth visiting.

Stayed at the Juliani between the 11/25 June 11
Arrived in the early hours and were greatly assisted by Albert ,night concierge.
We were very impressed by this hotel and it's surroundings, and all the staff who were very attentive from breakfast service till the bar closed, an extremely friendly team.
We used this as our base as we toured as much of the island as possible, using the local bus service.
we visited many of the local restuarants, but always found ourselves returning to Zest, where Alan and his team were always exceptionally helpful and patient with us.
George, we found the standard of your Hotel extremely high and your staff are such a credit to you, well done Sir.
We do hope to return in 2012 there is nowhere else we would rather stay.

My husband and I stayed at the Juliani for a weekend in July with our 14-month old daughter. We arrived very late and night and the man who checked us in was very friendly without being overbearing, and even gave us a carton of milk for our daughter. A crib was also already set up in our room when we arrived. The room was spacious and comfortable, with simple, tasteful decor.

We paid for one of the "sea view" rooms, which had a balcony and a view of the Spinola Bay, which was great for sitting in the evening, drinking a bottle of wine and watching life pass by down below :) And it's very nice to wake up in the morning with the sun shining in and such a beautiful view!

The location was very good - lots of nearby restaurants with outdoor eating options, plus a number of nearby places where you can dip into the bay or sea for a swim. It's a little further from Valletta - you need to walk and take a water taxi, or take a bus. But the walk along the bay to the water taxi was very enjoyable.

Room Tip: Pay a little extra to get one of the

Had a wonderful stay at Hotel Juliani
Room with balcony was an excelent size, and included air con, safe, and free wi-fi.
Very clean and daily maid service.
Great view from the balcony, and we were able to see the change from old to new buses,a change which did not seem for the better at the time we were there..
All the staff were very helpful, and breakfasts provided far more choice then usually provided in the Med area.
Well worth a visit
