“Between Average and Good”
Reviewed 25 March 2012

The rooms are alright, with some quirky colours, though small and without much natural light. A few things in the room did not work, especially in the bathroom, though they were quickly repaired. The reception is tucked into the corner of the front cafe, all looking tired and in need of refurbishment. I did not like the idea of the public toilets being right next to the kitchen - bad design! The tidy front terrace, if you can call it that, spills onto the street and the scenic atmosphere is dented by the presence of MacDonald's right next door.

Room Tip: Do not take a room in the middle of the hotel - next to no natural sun light.

This hotel deserves its Tripadvisor rating. Small, friendly hotel. The staff are very obliging. The food at breakfast is extensive. Situated in a great location overlooking the small harbour, pay the extra for a view, you can watch the fishing boats come home every morning with the days catch. The bus stop is directly across the road, you can get anywhere on the local bus. There are lots of restaurants within 100yards. Biancos is good for all types of food, not only Italian, they do steaks, fish, etc. Meet is a good choice if you want a good steak, so is Bufallo Bills at the Portamaso marina. While you are at the marina try the fantastic cakes at the Cafe Portamaso, it's by the Hilton and the casino.

Room Tip: Well worth paying for the view of the harbour.

We stayed a week at the Juliani for our Anniversary and Birthday celebration, in a fantastic room 403 overlooking the bay, the staff were wonderful and couldnt do enough to help, we even got a huge platter of fruit in our room for our Anniversary, and two glasses of bubbly! There was a good selection at breakfast, hot and cold buffet, and always served with a smile.
There are many good eating places nearby, Bianco a few doors up serves great italian food and fresh baked pizzas, Peppinos a few further doors up has Maltese food and a varied menu, and Wigis is a short walk along the front is a family run place serving excellent food.
We would definately recommend this hotel for its wonderful position overlooking the bay and within easy reach of shops and bars.
Thankyou for a fantastic week.

Room Tip: The best rooms have a balcony overlooking the bay, worth a little extra.

Hotel Juliani in St Julian's is a great stay. Nice clean room, nice staff, good value. You're surrounded by a great choice of restaurants, and the public transport is handy.

If you like a comfortable room with good amenities and a sea-view in a small hotel, I recommend Room 802 in the Hotel Juliani very highly. The weather was cold and windy during our stay in March 2012, but as soon as you walked into the Hotel lobby, you were met with a blast of warm air and immediately felt comforted. The view of the unusual Force 9 gale from our bedroom windows was spectacular and Spinola Bay is very pretty. The staff were very helpful, friendly and obviously very well-trained. The Hotel truly deserves its Tripadvisor rating.

Room Tip: Ask for a sea-view room on a high floor to make the most of the location.

A nice location in front of a cute bay in a modern and lively part of Malta. The hotel is very modern inside, our bedroom was from their cheapest type and with amost no view on the bay which is in front of the hotel, but we did not want to pay for a room with a view, so we did not expect anything special. However, seeing how the front rooms looks from outside with a nice private balcony, it must be really lovely. Also make sure you go on the top floor where you have access to the rooftop psmall pool, for a very nice view of the neighborhood.
The room was very clean and nice, bed very comfortable, and it was quiet at night. Breakfast was very good with nice choice, the staff was very friendly and we got a complimentary drink from the bar when we checked in.
The only flaw perhaps was that the wifi connection (which is available for free in the whole hotel and the bedroom) was a bit slow for us when we used it (but it may have ben the firewall of our laptop being too secure!)
So I'd definitely recommend the place and would go back if we visit Malta again.

This was the second time we had stayed at the Hotel Juliani. As before and as most reviewers have recommended, we chose a sea view room (we were in 401). The layout of the hotel is such that there are 8 or 9 rooms on each floor, but only 3 of these have the sea view. And some are "internal" in that they only look out to the light shafts.

The room was pleasant, with modern decor, and a balcony overlooking Spinola Bay

The layout of the hotel is also such that rooms only start on the 4th floor

If you are staying 4 days or more they offer a free pick up from the airport, which is quite useful. You have to pay for the taxi back yourself!

We ate one night at Zest, the hotel restaurant, which I felt lacked the intimacy of a smaller restaurant, but that is a personal thing. Zest is expensive with a meal for two, if you include service and a modest bottle of wine, coming to around 100€

The ground floor lounge was a nice place to grab a coffee

Room Tip: I would go for a sea view room
