I came to this hotel because of the good results in trip advisor. There is no doubt! All excellent descriptions are right. This hotel is beautiful, all the staff is very professional and warm, from the chamber maid to the manager.. The meals in the Café and in the restaurant Zest are delicious! I had a room on the back side with a terrasse, wich was very comfortable and quiet. I will come again.

Our experience at Julaini was as a delight. The service staff was excellent and attentded to all our requirements promptly and with humour. The views. Wow. You have to ask for a room with the view of the little Spinoila bay. From the street side rooms, you get to see all the little coloured boats and the bustle of tourists walking up and down. We also had a great meal at the restaurant.. You have to order the Sushi ...It was to die for !
All up we really enjoyed our stay .
On the negative side I guess we could have stayed for longer.
Highly recomended

I booked this hotel based on the reviews here. I planned to stay 3 nights at the hotel. Due to problems with strike of Lufthansa pilots and had to make my stay longer, but Juliani was full so I had to book Le Meridian (see my other review).
First we went to Le Meridian and after check out there we went directly to Juliani. The hotel is located right on the seafront in St. Julians with bus stop, restaurants etc. right in front of the hotel.
At the check-in we were told that our room is not ready yet. This was okay as it was only 9am. So we left our luggage at the hotel and went to explore Malta.
When we returned in the afternoon we were told that the hotel is overbooked and they have to move us to another hotel which turned out to be Le Meridien. They ordered us a taxi and took us to Le Meridien.
Next day they gave us a "better" room (with partial seaview) as an apologize for the previous night. The room was okay, clean, modern design, not really big but the only real drawback was the smell of cigarettes (probably a smoking room).
The plus was a free wi-fi connection.
The bathroom was clean.
Breakfast was good with variety of food, including baked beans, fresh orange juice ...
Staff was helpful (including dealing the overbooking situation). They even called to Aviation Museum to check wheteher it is open.
Despite really nice stay, good staff ... I probably expected something "more" as this hotel is rated as no. 1 in Malta. I has had a chance to compare I would not say that although I agree that it really is a good hotel.

I don't think there are many (or any) other hotels of this kind in Malta. Most of them seem to be large chain hotels, which I can't imagine have the same charm as the Juliani.
When we arrived we were told that we had been upgraded to a suite, for the first night only. We would then be moved (the staff took care of everything) for the rest of our stay to the standard room that we had originally booked. It was interesting to see that the difference between the rooms was not that huge. The suite was just a larger room (with a sea-view) and a jacuzzi bath instead of a regular one. Both rooms were very well decorated and the huge bed was super comfortable!
The location of the hotel is perfect, with many bars and restaurants within walking distance as well as a bus stop just across the road.
The restaurant, Zest (closed Sundays) is very good and worth checking out.

We had a brilliant stay at the Juliani! The hotel was really nicely decorated, it had large rooms and beds, air conditioning throughout and most rooms had balconys with chairs or sunloungers.
We had arrived 3 hours before our check in time and planned to leave our bags and go out for the day, but we were told if we waited just 5 minutes, our room would be ready. All guests were given a complimentary drink on arrival, so we sat and drank our drinks in the bar area until our room was ready.
The reception staff were ever so polite and helpful, giving us a 10€ voucher for hotel restaurant, booking us on a hop on and hop off sightseeing tour, and helping us with transportation.
Our room rate included breakfast at the hotel and is definitely worth having. There was a wide range of choice of cereals, fruits, juices, tea and coffee, yoghurts, pastries, cakes, breads, cheese, ham and full english, and you could go up as many times as you like. We had such large breakfasts that it meant we didn't eat lunch at all during our time in Malta!
Everyday we were given clean towels and flannels, the complimentary toiletries restocked and the room tidied. At 5.30pm everyday, a member of staff would come round with free small cakes for the guests which I though was a vert nice touch. If you weren't in then they would leave some in your room.
The hotel had a sun terrace with a pool. They provided clean towels up there for guests to use.
The large majority of guests at the hotel were middle aged couples but having looked at their complimenatry DVD collection, there were childrens DVDs too so presumably the hotel is open to all ages.
If you wanted to use the internet, they had laptops that you could borrow and use in reception.
Overall, I'd definitely recommend.

Top tip:
Use the buses!! It's 47cents to go anywhere on the island, the buses come every 10 minutes and there are hundreds of different routes.
To get to the hotel from the airport we took a taxi as we weren't sure where we were going. It is a fixed rate of 20€ and took about 25minutes.
Having discovered the buses during our stay we decided to use them to get back to airport so we took the 62 to Valetta (bus stop is right outside the hotel) and then the 8 to the airport which costs us only 94cents each in total and took about 1 hour.
