“Well deserved no 1 hotel in Malta”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 May 2014

Trip Advisor ratings are rarely wrong and so it is with Hotel Valentina, St Julians, Malta.
It really is a spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated boutique hotel, I get the impression that no expense was spared in every detail of this beautiful property.
My room was very comfortable with separate wc and shower room, small balcony and decent wifi.
Breakfast was fair enough, not a British full hot array, but I'm sure anyone would find what they wanted for breakfast anyway.
Beautiful bar area, great staff, the small roof pool and terrace were great with a very friendly barman behind the bar. The strange thing was that the pool area was empty most of the time - where did everyone go during the day?
The only downside was the fact the hotel is in St. Julians, disgusting filthy hole of a place.

Room Tip: Don't take one of the rooms with a balcony at the annexe part of the hotel! I was in 101 - screa...

Long story short - everything was perfect! The location is pretty nice, because even though it is in a "party area", the small street is quiet and the guests of the hotel have the opportunity to sleep well. The breakfast is great, room was great - nothing more to say :)

This is a great hotel with excellent facilities. The staff were brilliant; from check-in to check out. We haven't experienced such lovely, friendly service like this before. The hotel is well placed for what St Julians has to offer. The room was bright and modern and immaculately clean as was the rest of the hotel. The rooftop pool area and the bar downstairs are great spaces to spend some time.

Stayed May 2014. Hard to understand why this hotel only has a 3-star rating. It is conveniently located on a quiet residential road but very close (couple of minutes walk) to restaurants and a decent supermarket (Waitrose products). Not much further away is the Spinola Bay waterfront, Portomaso marina and St George's Road which is the main bus route to Valletta and towards Gozo (unlimited bus travel for $1.50 a day – bus network is extensive, services regular and the busses are modern, clean and air conditioned) . The hotel is also fairly close to St Georges Bay beach, Baystreet shopping centre and the Paceville nightclubs (although sufficiently far away so as not to be disturbed by them).

Without exception the reception, bar and housekeeping staff were friendly and the former exceptionally helpful.

The hotel is clean and modern with a spacious reception area with bar and computers for internet access (there is also free wi-fi available throughout the hotel). The mezzanine floor breakfast room is a reasonable size and the range of food provided is very good. There is no hotel restaurant but just around the corner is a restaurant called The Avenue at which Hotel Valentina guests can get a 10% discount. The Avenue also provides free delivery to rooms in the hotel. The rooftop pool and sun-deck is small but was never busy during our stay and sunbeds were available at any time of day. Sensibly the hotel does have a ‘no reserving’ rule for sunbeds.

Rooms are a reasonable size with contemporary décor and air conditioned. There are separate WC and shower rooms. Free safe, fridge, alarm clock with ipod dock, iron, ironing board and tea/coffee making facilities are provided. Beds very comfortable and housekeeping standards were excellent.

A very good experience, everything was good, coffe too :-)
Very clean room (not large), free wi-fi, good breackfast, great restaurant. In the middle of night-life, many pubs and choices for fun with no car.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms not on the street (quieter)

The Hotel was well located, just a short walk to the bay and nightlife area, but located on a quiet street. The hotel is very modern and clean, with a bar in reception serving lovely cocktails. There is a beautiful pool on the roof. The staff are very friendly. We ate at the restaurant owned by the hotel The Avenue, it is very good value, was very busy and had a great buss. The hotel driver collected us from the airport and drove us back for our return journey at a cost of €17 each way - good value.

This is my second day at Hotel Valentina; I can truly say that this boutique hotel deserves 4*'s and above.
The reason why it does not get a 5 is because there is no Gym here!

After eating the hearty/healthy breakfast they serve here you need to have some means of burning a few of those calories off.

True, I could eat a lot less and have no need to burn off calories but I like to keep my heart and lungs in good shape.

So far, all staff seem to be helpful, the rooms are cleaned to quite a high standard, very efficient.

I have a few more days left here. Will keep you posted.
At the moment Valentina is one of my top 5
