“Overnight Stay DBB Spring Deal”
Reviewed 8 May 2014

Vast improvement from our last stay, Staff were all excellent from checking in, through the bar staff and dining staff and the final check out. Very professional and service with a smile which is all too lacking these days. Upgraded from a standard to an executive room which was a nice touch.

Room was nice and funtional, very clean with comfy bed ( not two singles pushed together ) and didn't here any noise from outside or from other rooms or the corridor. From the area's we visited it was all clean and well organised.

The bar was well stocked with the staff being friendly and knowlegable on what was available behind the bar, nice touch of bringing your drinks to the table and providing nibbles, but watch the prices, wine was around £8.50 for a large glass with a pint of beer being around £5, so not the cheapest but not the dearest place either.

Dinner was on the whole not bad, service was excellent but found the menu a bit sparse, not a great deal of choice. Starters were very nice although the pea puree was frozen solid at the bottom of the dish. Mains were again well presented and tasty, on the whole the Dinner was ok, but a more varied choice would have made the experience better.

Breakfast was a buffet style for continental with a great variety on offer from cereals through to cold hams etc, in addition the cooked version was served after being ordered, no complaints about the breakfast, great choice and seemed to be cooked to order, if I had one minor complaint it was that the black pudding tasted like it had been deep fried, far too much oil evident but I am picking hairs here.

On the whole good break away with reasonable food, hotel, room and staff were excellent and location very handy, just provide more choice on the menu ( scallops or venison always a big hit ) and extra star would have been awarded.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review on trip advisor.

The team here at the hotel takes great pride in the service they provide and it is encouraging to read that you appreciate all the hard work and dedication that they put in. The staff are all very proud of being awarded the AA hotel group of the year 2013-2014 for the second time.

I do hope we have the pleasure of welcoming you back to the Macdonald Crutherland House in the near future.

Kindest regards

Three of us went for a spa day, treatment was excellent. Special mention for Sarah, very good.
Small relaxation room, 4 beds, but warm and inviting. Dinner was lovely, good choice on inclusive menu. Nice to have fresh cooked breakfast rather than buffet.

Our children sent us on a spa break in February. It was a wet and windy weekend but the welcome at the Macdonald was warm and friendly. We were greeted by a most efficient receprionist who informed us in a pragmatic yet pleasant manner what to expect during our stay - where to find the dining area, bars, spa/pool etc. Once settled into our light a comfortable front facing room we headed up to the dining room for a light evening meal. My wife had a very delicious goat's cheese salad which we ended up sharing (I couldn't resist a wee try) and then we both selected a chicken dish as the main. The main was good but it wasn't great. However, the waiting staff fall over themselves to ensure that your dining experience is an enjoyable one. Nothing is too much trouble and my wife's enquiry as to wether there might be any gluten free beer in the house sparked a search which, although it ended in defeat, was very much appreciated. Breakfast at the Macdonald is a delight. There are several options on offer and again the waiting staff ensure that you have all that you need to start your day. The young people who organise and maintain the spa area are friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. We spent a most relaxing morning being pampered (our weekend break included a massage, use of the pool/sauna and gym area). We went shopping in the afternoon and had dinner whilst we were out. We did, however, enjoy a couple of drinks in the hotel in the evening before going off to bed and a comfortable nights sleep. The hotel is set in several acres of land and the only 'noise' that can be heard is the sound of nature! Would we stay here again? Absolutely. The excellent staff are a credit to the Scottish tourist industry, the hotel is beautiful and the food is top notch. If its the perfect weekend retreat you are after you will find it here.

Room Tip: I would imagine that all rooms are quiet. The hotel is quite sizeable so if you have difficulty with...

The location of this hotel indeed makes it country house hotel as it is almost in the middle of nowhere, despite its proximity to East Kilbride, which makes it very quiet and away from the hubub. You need a car to easily access the property.

The rooms are plainly furnished but clean and functional. Hotel has a swimming pool, steam and sauna and spa area with reasonably priced treatments.

The quality of the food is very good. I had afternoon tea, dinner and breakfast all of which were of a very high standard.

All the staff were very friendly and eager to help you in any way they could.

this resort is around a quarter of a mile off the main road, the only noise you hear are the birds singing. staff are very attentive, food great, and rooms,we were upgraded to an executive room,we did it through a 5pm deal. the menu is therefore slightly limited, but is adequate for a fussy eater like meit does have a pool and spa and sky sports in the bar. as it is a more upmarket establisment be prepared for a slightly overpriced bar bill but go and treat yourself

Stayed at this hotel last week as part of a great value 5pm deal. Having stayed at the hotel before for a wedding I had a good idea of what to expect. Our room was comfortable and clean with well appointed power points which you don't often find in hotels. Our complimentary wine was waiting for us in our room and I was pleased to be offered the choice between white or red. After checking in, we used the swimming pool, which was a great facility. Our evening meal was great - the menu offered a good selection of dishes and the items I chose from the menu were all delicious. The restaurant was comfortable and offered a very relaxed dining experience. Breakfast the following morning was also a relaxing affair with a plentiful choice of items offered on the buffet as well as hot food available from the menu. I particularly enjoyed the freshly squeezed orange juice which again, you don't often come across. All of the staff in the hotel were friendly and chatty from reception to the food and beverage staff to the housekeepers. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and wouldn't hesitate to return.

Myself and husband have enjoyed our stay and we wil return again, I will recommend Crutherland House Hotel to friends. The staff have been nothing but pleasant and attentive. The pool, sauna and steam room are great and the best leisure facilities we have used and we have stayed in a lot of hotels. Dinner was fatastic and breakfast as well. The room we stayed was beauiful. Cannot praise this hotel high enough. I do not understand the unpleasant and negative comments about this place on tripadvisor, my experience was far from that so dont always believe what you read!!!
