This is just one of those hotels where it is just fine. Room was spacious and bed comfortable, although furniture in room beginning to look a bit tired (wardrobe door hanging off a bit). Staff were pleasant and helpful at check in/check out. Didn't have dinner in the restaurant but breakfast was tasty and good selection. Breakfast service a little chaotic at busy times though, had to wait a while for a seat and they ran out of plates at one point too. Would stay again though.

Rooms are reasonably clean and roomy, but the whole place has a slight smell of stale cigarettes. Breakfast was fine. The bar wasn't great.
The worst thing here is the location. It's got a big flyover right beside it, and nowhere you could go for a walk, apart from a dual carriageway or a 2 lane roundabout. There was a mixup about our booking, for which an unnecessarily convoluted solution was found ....but it did get sorted. Fine place for a sales rep for a night or 2

Had 5 lovely days over xmas arrived to a warm reception from the staff.Large rooms but could do with a revamp new tv's a must. The breakfast was lovely every morning and dinner was good the nights we eat in the hotel. We had family join us for a couple of days who all enjoyed the use of the swimming pool and the rest of the facilities. This was there first stay at the hotel and they thought it good value and worth the travel from London to spend the time with the family. Will return in the near future as it was so relaxing, plenty parking and a couple of min from the large shopping centre which is a bonus. Thanks to all the staff who looked after us not forgetting the housekeeping.

Room Tip: We had a room on the first floor it was nice and quiet.

we spent one night here it was fine just a couple of small gripes .the staff are great very helpful .room was fine clean and tidy but the tv was fred flintstones old one a mean come on how much for a small flat screen these days ? . the health club is good .the pool a good size and steam room and sauna fine.but the changing rooms are to small if there is any more than 8 people u struggle to get your breeks on .the bar area is a good size but drinks pricy £4 for a bottle of beer £6.85 for a glass of wine far to expensive the problem with places like this is if they kept the prices for a normal working man you would buy 3 drinks instead of 1 and spend more time in the hotel .another small one when we were in the bar people were asking to watch the football on tv answer? don't know how to turn the tv over to sky WHIT!! no real that's if they have sky? but apart from these things the rest was fine .the dinner and breakfast good .would go back if they sort out the tv and bar prices a don't want to pay 10 pound for 2 drinks to watch cash in the attic .

Room Tip: one with a colour tv

Thank you for taking the time to discuss your issues when I called this morning. There are no excuses for the lapse in standards regarding the bedroom cleanliness; this has been reviewed by the housekeeping team to ensure there is no repeat. The fault with the heating system has now been repaired and I am sorry the room was not as warm as it should have been on arrival.

I was pleased to hear that you enjoyed the Hogmanay Ball and I look forward to welcoming you back again soon.

Kind regards

Have stayed in hotel before and always had a pleasant enough stay. My review however is based on spa treatment I received recently. I am a little over 6 months pregnant and as a Xmas gift my husband bought me a mother to be treatment which is priced at £42.00 for 1 hr 15 mins. Treatment in itself was great I must say, however, if a treatment states 1 hr 15 mins this is how long the treatment itself should last...am I wrong? I was out the room within an hour but for 10 minutes of this treatment I lay in a room by myself with a face mask on. So instead of the 1 hr 15 mins I was basically given a 50 min treatment. As I say, treatment was great when it was being done and the girl doing the massage herself was very pleasant but just felt a bit disappointed with the time spent doing it. I was so excited about this treatment but not 100% I will return for another.

This is an older style hotel with spacious rooms. The decor is dated and as mentioned in a previous review the rooms have old fashioned TVs. I stayed at this hotel two years ago and nothing much has changed. The lighting in some of the rooms is very dim - no centre light so you have to rely on side lamps.
The internet reception is questionable in some of the rooms and of course being an older hotel if your room is either on the ground or first floor you hear people above you walking and if they are heavy footed this can be very annoying.
The redeeming feature of this hotel is the staff who are always friendly and helpful at all times. From the ladies at the check in reception right through to the restaurant and bar staff, room cleaners to duty managers all the staff were friendly and helpful. At the time I stayed they were dealing with a major IT system failure and all the staff did their best to maintain their great level of service at all times.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on a high floor if possible.
