“Midweek one-nighter”
Reviewed 3 September 2014

Made very welcome on arrival. 2 couples staying on a midweek leisure break. Didn't have enough time to make use of leisure facilities. Bed very comfortable, good food for both dinner and breakfast. However, room not overly large. We were located in the annex, which was a pity, as we were staying with overseas visitors who would have much preferred to stay in the original older part of the building - this option wasn't mentioned in the hotels booking site. Would stay again, providing the price was right.

stayed here on Sunday night as a treat for my friend who was up in Scotland, got a great online deal for £99 twin room, dinner bed and breakfast; impressive building on arrival, thought it would be nice and quiet, but the place was buzzing as there was an Indian wedding on the go, but still had a great time
lovely girl on check in very friendly, allocated room on top floor, twin room, not huge, but very comfy, tea/coffee gear, big tv, radio alarm, all very nice, bathroom was lovely, looked brand new and had a rainfall shower head - nice - nice crabtree & evelyn toiletries - what's not to like
I had reserved a table online for dinner at 7.30, and we were given a nice table in the conservatory area of the Nick Nairn restaurant, menu was explained, three courses included....wonderful food, and beautifully presented, well impressed; only negative was that the service for started and main was great, but at around 8.30 the restaurant got crazy busy and we waited ages for dessert - maybe they should manage their bookings a bit more effectively as the staff were clearly very stretched, no matter it was an enjoyable experience. After a fairly good night's sleep on the comfy beds, breakfast beckoned, this again was in the Nick Nairn restaurant and offered a huge range of food, all very nice, including porridge, haggis, and vegetarian haggis, a full range of cooked items, bakery items, cereals and juices, very enjoyable, but the service of coffee and tea which is brought and poured into your mug is a pain, I am still waiting for my second cup of coffee!
All in all a great break for a great price, well impressed

Having used this hotel a number of times we were very disappointed with our latest stay from the room service we received and also the menu for the evening meal where there were one or two things not available and our meal was booked for 7pm. Not all that late!

This hotel turned out to be a nice surprise. The façade is very grand and traditional and the rooms were small but serviceable. The onsite pool and gym were pretty good for this class of hotel (but hours are so-so... doesn't open until 7AM). Biggest complaint is the hotel is very busy (and feels it), the walls aren't super thick (so you hear a fair amount of ambient noise) and the onsite restaurant and bar aren't the greatest (skip the house red wines). The staff was helpful but again a step or two below a truly exceptional hotel on knowledge and time to help you. Overall, though, a solid tourist stay for excursions around Sterling or an offsite hotel for Gleneagles (which is about 20 minutes away by car).

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing town for a nice view of Dunblane and the cathedral. Its quite a pretty setting...

A truly wonderful property. Rooms are dated. Service and staff are warm and caring. Appears to be a very popular locate attraction but if your flying into Edinburgh and drive to the highlands, this is a perfect stop.

I chose this hotel because it looks like a castle and had a separate adjoining gym. The gym was ok but small and was very busy. They do have a large indoor pool on site also. Their food costs are very high, so I would suggest eating outside if you are concerned with costs. I wish these hotels would give free Wifi, and a coffee maker, I just do not understand it. We had 2 twin beds which is good for 2 adult people but not really much room more than that. On the plus side, the beds were comfortable and they gave a nice warm complementary cookie at check-in.

We stayed for an overnight to celebrate our anniversary. A lovely card and chocolates were left however that is where my praise ends. Rooms are looking a wee bit tired as do the carpets need a good clean. Vanish foam is good for that.
Service and food in restaurant were below par. This is a Nick Nairn restaurant! Food cold and chewy. We were given a bottle of wine for our disappointment.
Breakfast at the Dunblane Hydro was always second to none, again a disappointment. We have stayed here 4 times in the past 18 months and this time same pattern as dinner. Cold coffee and rubber eggs.
My husband and I have been going to this hotel for 20 years and I am starting to think it will be my last.

Room Tip: Don't have any
