We have recently moved to the area and had heard food things about this pub. We went last Wednesday lunchtime for food and it was excellent. We were pretty much the only ones there but I’m sure at busier times there’s a lovely traditional country pub atmosphere. The food was great. We had pate to start and it was so good we asked where it was from, turns out that it’s the chef’s own recipe and he made it himself. We then had steak and ale pie, it’s a classic dish which although simple many still get wrong. It was fantastic; light pastry and great quality meat. It came with a huge side serving of vegetables too.
We sat in the main bar area but there’s a more formal dining room too which looked nice. Husband was impressed by ale selection too. Will definitely be back.
