Visited last night for the first time and was very impressed with the warm welcome, attentive service and excellent food.
The salmon was very tasty and I really enjoyed the sticky toffee pudding for desert which was made traditionally with dates.
We will be back!

“Outstanding- Best meal we've ever had!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 March 2014

Literally the best meal either of us have ever had- all in the comfort of a cosy and traditional country pub! Beautiful, good quality, well presented food- cooked to perfection. The menu was reasonably small but brilliant, plenty of choice- both of us would've happily eaten anything from it, it all sounded lovely. Very well designed. I chose the Black Pudding Fritters to start followed by the Lamb Rump from the Special's Board. My other half had the Deep Fried Brie Wedges, followed by the Duck. We finished with the Sticky Toffee Pudding and the Belgium Waffle- both were delicious. Neither of us could fault any part of the meal- it was absolutely gorgeous, such attention to detail! The staff were really friendly, food and drinks came quick, the waitress was attentive but not intrusive, and the wine was really lovely too. For the quality of the food we both thought the price was incredibly reasonable too (I have paid a lot more for a lot less at other places!). The atmosphere was buzzing, but not over-crowded. I really could not recommend this pub enough- excellent all round!

“A very friendly "proper" pub”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 March 2014

Visited on a Saturday lunchtime just for a pint. Very friendly guy behind the bar who turned out to be the landlord's dad. They were away so there was no food but that didn't bother us. Excellent beer, Jennings Cumberland Ale, and we were made very welcome.

“Excellent for a group.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 March 2014

We visited as a group of around 25 last weekend and the service and food was amazing. Everything came out hot, at the same time and there were no errors. Nothing was too much trouble, these guys did a first class job. We will be back next year for sure.

“Fantastic all round.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 February 2014 via mobile

We wanted somewhere special for our first Valentines meal out in many years... We were NOT disapointed.

The food, the staff, the pub, the atmosphere were all absolutely fantastic, the best I have ever had and experienced.

We both had the Pork Belly and it was melt in the mouth.

The cosy fire for a few drinks after the meal was very nice and homely.

We will definately be coming back for more time and time again.
