A cheap and cheerful Marston's 2 for 1, with typical pub-grub menu changed twice a year. We've eaten here a few times but the experience depends on how busy it is and who serves you. The wines are good, mains are ok, but veg portions are invariably boiled for what seems like hours - often most disappointing part of the meal. Desserts are typical pub-sugary ice cream-baed. A fair few pies on the menu, and these are heavy on pastry and light on meat. When we wrote to Marstons about this we didn't get a reply. The lawn and deck area are very pleasant in the summer but because it's 2 for 1, it often gets crowded, especially at weekends, and the level of service tends to drop. Cheaper than the competition but not necessarily good value. But well-liked by the locals.
