I spent today at the hotel with my daughter and daughter-in-law on a 'spa-day' through Spa Breaks. We were extremely disappointed with the facilities at the hotel. Our payment included use of the pool, sauna and steam room all day; with treatments at Eclipse based within the hotel and a light lunch. We arrived expecting to use the pool then have lunch, return to the pool area until our treatment times and a further swim before leaving. This was not possible as the lunch is in the bar situated in the reception area of the hotel. Likewise the treatment rooms are along a public corridor from the pool. Both of which necessitate you getting dressed (robes are not provided only a towel - the bar area is the only place to get a drink or food and was also being used for a wedding so it is clear you have to be dressed to have any refreshments during the day). We had lunch first and the food was fine although the bar staff insisted there was not a drink included and so we paid for those. We then went to the pool area. The changing rooms were grubby and the floor was dirty. The shower area was not clean; the soap dispensers were broken and there were tiles off the wall. The pool area itself looked like it hadn't had a good clean in a long time with green mould between the tiles and areas of the floor were dirty. The steam room was not working (a notice said this was a repeat problem). There were three loungers, one of which was broken, one table and four chairs around the pool so we couldn't all sit down as there were a few other people already there. We stayed for an hour and got dressed to go for our treatments with no desire to return afterwards.
The treatments took place in a separate area run by Eclipse which was very clean and well presented; the treatments themselves were excellent - we have no complaints re Eclipse. It was a shame we felt we could only use the pool area for an hour but even that was struggle given it was not clean! I am not someone who normally complains but will be contacting Spa Breaks with some photos to hopefully prevent others being as disappointed as we were.
