“WORTH A VISIT”
Reviewed 31 July 2014

We have been using this pub/restaurant fairly regularly for a number of years. We were there with friends on Tuesday night. The service, quality of food and general atmosphere cannot be faulted.

This particular night was unusually quiet, and we got a table (without having booked) straightaway. One of the things I like about the place is that on evenings when it is extremely busy (and, from my experience, this is the norm), potential diners are always told in advance how long it will be before a table will be available, giving time to make alternative arrangements, if need be.

The menu is varied and reasonably priced and the staff friendly and attentive (without being pushy).

And for families with children, there is a well-equipped outdoor play area.

It's worth a visit.

“Over priced food”
Reviewed 10 July 2014

A friend of mine raved over this place having driven 25 miles to get to it, to arrive at 7.30pm on a Wednesday evening to a packed carpark with no spaces where I had to sit and wait 15 mins for someone to leave to evenutally park, I thought this must serve good food for it to be packed so early on. I ordered the vegetable quiche for £10.50 just a small piece of quiche with a few over done chips and a spoonful of warm coleslaw didn't look very appetizing to say the least not even any salad as a garnish a lot of money for what it was, plus slow service had to wait nearly 35 minutes for food to arrive. On the plus side the staff were very friendly but the menu is well over priced.

“More scrunched paper than chips”
Reviewed 29 June 2014

Just eaten here having been regular visitors over 15 years and have just been massively disappointed in the meal we've just eaten. Ordered Lasagne which came with salad, garlic bread and coleslaw chips could be added for £1.60, also ordered a side portion of chips at £1.95 to go with the salad. The garlic bread had shrunk in size and both portion of chips were ridiculous. The ones for the lasagne came to 10 chips, the other came to 12 chips. utterly ridiculous considering the price we paid. I understand that they are selling them as a basket of chips but they were abysmally small. We complained to a waitress and were told that it is based on weight and the old buckets they used to use. The baskets were served with a load of scrunched up paper under the chips to make the portion look bigger. Although we got our money back on the chips I can't say I was particularly impressed on the portion size or the response from the waitress.

If they are wanting repeat business this issue of portion size needs to be addressed. Its got to the stage where the portions have been getting small but now its a bit of a joke.

“great summer menu”
Reviewed 26 June 2014

The white swan has done it again, served up tasty appetizing food at a very good price, my husband had the salmon which he thoroughly enjoyed, my son had the gyros and he too was pleased with his choice my daughter in law had the chicken breast with chilli which she said was very filling, I had the fish and chips which was lovely. My husband and son reckon it's the best of Rosenberg and the mild is the best around, he said Horace keeps a great cellar
